First Grow...(pics)

Sweet!

Sweet!

As always no problem. I am pretty stoked, looks like there are already tiny trichomes going out on my girl. :) Ill try to get a good pic of it tonight

Dude that's great. I think I can see some tiny ones growing on my lady as well. It's exciting to see them grow out and develop. Heres some pics from this afternoon. What do you think? Is she coming along well? :tiphat:

I'm excited to see your grow progress NY, especially that lovely sativa lady you have! Should be fun!

Thanks man me too. This is my first time flowering so it should be interesting. I hope it goes well, so far so good. Her buds get bigger and bigger everyday.

On the others, I weeded out 3 boys but have found 2 beautiful ladys from the hillbilly kush. The Silver skunk bx1 is growing slower and hasn't shown yet. Both HBK females would make mothers they are really bushy with great nodal growth but I think I'm only gonna keep one and send the other all the way. Who knows maybe I'll keep both and take some clones.

Looks like she is starting to be a happy budding plant :)

Yeah I think so. I'm tryin to keep her loved as best I can. She even starting to grow more in the nodal areas. It seems that sativas want to grow up rather than out and have poor nodal growth. I'm sure if I topped her off she'd grow wider but its to late for that as you know. She gotta be 32"-36" now but all stem. I'm hoping that through the flowering cycle she'll fill out. Whatcha think?

Sativa's are stretchers, its what they do. They are more about vertical growth than bushiness, which is why for my most part they make the better choice for sog grows. but yeah a little late to top her :c

I bet you she grows a gorgeous main cola though! You could probably still work in some LST without harming things too much.

You could. But if you are going for a sog grow, forgo the lst and just quick bloom a lot of her and clones of her in a small space for an awesome yield in minimal area. The main cola with such fast yields would outdo whatever dual cola's you got most likely, only because they wouldn't have had the chance to develop fully before going into bloom, minimizing their yields in the end.

I could be wrong though, certain strains might benefit from the lst or topping or some form or another of super cropping etc might greatly benifit yields. I will have to try side by sides for myself some time :^)

Strangest thing......

Strangest thing......

Hey all I noticed the strangest thing on my hillbilly kush females the buds aren't growing in the nodal areas but more on the end of the nodal growth and out of the area where the leaves are budding. I always thought that they grow out of the nodal areas under the outshoots. Has anyone every seen plants that don't grow flowers from the nodal areas under the growth shoots? Regardless the hillbilly females seem to be fit for cloning as they are growing lots of off shoots that are already 4-5 inches long. Much different than my sativa female. I guess that's why I didn't recognize them right away I was looking in the wrong place. Is this a difference between sativa and indica? I'll try to take some pics and post them of what I'm seeing but the pistils are small so they might not be picked up on the pic.

If I'm understanding, then yes that is normal. Just because a bud starts forming at a node doesn't mean it ends there. They grow little stalks of there own and stand off of the node. sometimes only an inch but other times they form into secondary colas and grow up. Then you may also notice as flowering continues that the nodes beneath it start to shoot out pistils as well.

From what I have seen the possibility that entire nodal branches become engulfed in bud is common, including the tips. I think this is what you are looking for right?

Well isn't that pretty....

That bitch is gorgeous! but not what I mean. I mean the in the node grows a branch. it grows out and leave come from it. Then in the center of those leaf buds grows a flower, but no flowers are growing in the nodes like in your pic. But maybe its to early in the process for them to sprout because I was just sexing. But normally that's the first place that I notice pistils. However this plant didn't grow pistils in the node yet but it did out on the growth shoot. Odd?

Also, everyone check out this link and tell me what you think...

I'm gonna try it. I have seen and read good things about it in more than one place. Any thoughts?

Pm me a pic of the plant you are talking about, my girls a ways into flowering so yours wont look like that yet. Hell, until a week or so ago I didn't know she was fully in flower yet. The change is fast lol :)

ok I'll take one today.

Update: I found another lady amongst my crop this evening. It's one of the Silver Skunk BX1's. That brings the total now to 3 female hillbilly Kush, 1 sativa lady and one Female BX1. I got my wish for atleast one female per strain. But I think I might get more than I bargained for. I suspect that the two remaining BX1's might be female. I have noticed that males seem to show quicker than females in the sexing process and these three silver skunk have just began to show when all others have passed and the first to show was a female. That leads me to believe the others may be as well. Jeeze.... I am certainly keeping a mother from each strain, but I really wanted to keep both Kush females because they are so sweet looking but I don't know if I have the room for 3 mothers right now. I also took two clones today from one of the female hillbilly kushes. That means that's two more females certainly. 7-9 females at once maybe I should give one away.

End Week 3 Update...

End Week 3 Update...

Hey all here are some pics from the end of week 3. This is the sativa. She is starting to bud up nice and I even see some frost starting to accumulate.

Also here is the top. It got a little to close to the lamp and I found her this morning with the top leaves browned out. I hope this doesn't ruin the main cola.

The flowers are looking good. I feel like weeks 3 and 4 of flower are kind of a waiting game then in week 5 and 6 the buds really start looking like buds. Hopefully in your case nice big ones! One of these days I will try running a sativa dom strain.

Lol GBOGH; he didn't veg her that long since he didn't want a big plant. :O But it looks like what about 32-40" Yeah NYUF?
Oh, and as long as the bud didnt get burnt you should be fine. You will get a little less, but all in all its not going to decimate your main cola. :)

how tall is your plant and how tall was it when you finished veg?

Yeah shes about 40", Sativa's are climbers from what I hear. I try to keep the lights real close so she doesn't try to climb because she'd climb to the ceiling if I let her. Her Nodes are far apart but I noticed that her nodal areas are larger than my indica females. My indica females (hillbilly kush & Silver Skunk BX1 by Medman) are shorter bushier have more nodes but the nodal growth seems to grow out further rather than larger. Now this could just be a individual plant thing or a strain thing but I have 6 indica females and they all look alike as far as nodal growth, IMO.

Yeah trypp that Bitch would grow and keep growing to the roof if I let her right LOL.

Yeah it looks like she's rebounding. A little crooked but still growing LOL.
