I will most likely run 9 to 9.5 weeks with this round. I am ready for something different. My ghost ogs are massive, a foot above everything, going to do some staking this week sometime. Got so.e nice little bunches of pistils, shit is getting interesting.
Good morning Packerfan.

I bet it's nice to work with some genetics that you've run before so you know exactly what to expect for finishing time. I'm guessing around 9 weeks for the c91jbXsl but I'll have to watch the swell and trichomes. I'm ready for some new buds too. The gb I've been puffing is great and it seems like it's pretty resistant to strain tolerance but some variety would be nice. I love those first bunches of pistils too and it's exciting to see how they stack.

hell yeah its been hot,p'fan
its the dry heat so its not as uncomfortable as the humidity we had earlier in they year, but when ever you hit tripple digits, its freaking hot

so my buddy comes home this week but im kind of reluctant to cut down my plant with the heat and especially the low humidity
today was supposed to be the worst of it so im hoping it will be closer to normal temps by the time we get to the weekend
im going for a nice slow dry at his house and then we will each cure our own
i will be sure to post up some smoke reports one i can
i would like to tell you good things about the seeds ive been trying to sprout but ive had low strike rates with the nirvana mystery seeds
and something ate a bunch of the sprouts of the others

hope everyone is having a great week
Good afternoon pop_rocks.

I'm starting to miss the heat of summer allready. It's been a nice fall up to this week lots of cold and rain damp weather. Time to get use to it and look forward to spring I guess.

I hope temps come down for you guys by the time the weekend rolls around. I guess I'm lucky that my basement stays about the same temp year round for harvesting. My humidity gets low in the winter but it doesn't seem to make a drastic impact on how long it takes the bud to dry.

Sorry to hear the news on your seedlings. I've been lucky and had fresh seeds and gotten great germ rates. I've read that when a seed gets to be a few years old it is harder to germ. I think there are some things that people claim can make older and harder to germ seeds pop like using h2o2 to soak them, superthrive and things like that. When you say something ate your other sprouts that makes me paranoid about it happening to me. I've not heard of anything that eats seedlings but have heard that fungus gnats can eat the little roots of young plants. I hope you have better luck with the next batch.

i suspect it was the brown moths that have been fluttering around the house lately
i think they come from the boxes we take our food home from costco in
its usually bad in the summer and we put out pheromone traps
a friend had the same problem, so bad he called an exterminator and that is what the guy said to use
it works but by this time of year the moths have usually died out
i usually keep the young ones covered by a humidity dome until they have their first set of leafs, (the one fingered ones )
but one morning i was kind of in a rush and forgot to put the dome back on
it was totally my fault so i can only blame myself
as far as the germination rate, i agree
its most likely the older seeds that are only hitting at like 50%
the fresh seeds seems to be doing really well
now that you are having great success with the cloner maybe you will be able to run a strain a few times
i like variety too but try and save a couple spots for at least a couple "grown before" strains
im transitioning right now so i will only be growing out the dog treat agian, but am hoping to find a keeper in the next batch of seed

so how is the party planning goign, brother?
haloween is right around the corner and i bet the time will fly by like that
/snaps fingers
dude, thanksgiving is right around the corner!
i cant believe we only have a few weeks left in the year!

Good evening pop_rocks.

That's just bad luck about the moths. Sorry pops. The only insects I seem to get ate the gnats from the soil and for some reason I find dead spiders in my tents too. Probably nothing for the spiders to eat in there. A humidity dome is a great idea to help protect young ones from unwanted guests. The only thing I get paranoid about with the dome is it seems to make for an easy place for the gnats to breed in the damp soil.

Yes for sure as long as I like the strain I'm growing now I will grow out clones from the best plant or two after 1 more seed run. I plan on keeping clones from the next seed run as well which gives me 4 chances at a keeper pheno on these and 3-4 on the next round too depending on how many girls I get. I want to grow clones from these two runs for at least the next couple runs after that to get to know them better. Then I might be back to some new genetics and another pheno hunt.

I'm glad you still have the dog treats going, I know you liked that one.

Just a couple more days to get ready for the party and still lots to do. I've been putting off doing much but it's crunch time now. Gotta pick up a couple butts and I think I'm going to make slaw. I have a recipe for jalapeño buttermilk Cole slaw that should be a hit. I also need a new fire pit since the house gets crowded with people a lot of spill out on the back porch and puff bowls. It's going to be dropping into the 30's so will need that fire to stay warm. Yes the year has flown by and it will be New Years before we know it.

Pop Rocks, it is crazy how fast this year has gone by. I am excited for the holidays, should have harvest on the big room mid Jan. Swinging for the fences for the next couple years. I need a nice stack of cash so I can afford to move when the wife finishes school .

yeah we are in the home streach and there are only a few weeks left in 2017!
and before i forget,i would like to thanks each and everyone of you guys in the jungle
i remember the first day i joined ICMag like it was yesterday and soon after started making new friends
p'fan, rode', and most of all you f'nut!
you guys are the best of the best and its been fun seeing the thread evolve and ive learned so much from all of you

yeah definitely get a nice fire going outside, fiddy
i notice a great party has several distinct regions, so to speak
i would almost always find myself in the kitchen or outdoors
a nice fire draws people in and is just cool to have
thats funny you mentioned a spicy slaw!
i was just talking to a friend today about spicy coleslaw
it had jalapenos in it too, so it might be very much like your recipie
thats crazy about the gnats
thats one pest i dont really have problems with
its mostly mites and PM here where i live
i was thinking about finding something different than the dome tho, something that could pose a barrier to pests but still breath
maybe like a mesh over a wire frame or something like that
/has to be small enough to keep out little critters but not interfere with the light too mcuh
talked to my buddy last night
me and the mrs are going over tomorrow for dinner
i might have him chop the plant sometime this weekend or early next week and then let the plants dry a bit with the leafs on before we trim them up for a nice cure
so how do you guys harvest?
do you teim the whole plant to final trim right off the bat or do you let it sit a while wiht some leafs on it?
maybe just take the large fan leafs off and let the sugar leafs alone till we can all sit down and trim the lot up?

i hear you, p'fan
with the coming of legalization have you seen any change in demand?
i imagine the market will soon be flooded with this years outdoor crop, but premium weed will always command top dollar
about how many units are you anticipating for this next cycle?

one more day fellas'
we got this!

Pop Rocks, I haven't seen a change in demand. I am hoping the taxes and regulations keep things expensive. I am in an area with no medical storefronts, delivery only of which I have heard nothing but bad reviews. I don't even know if legal recreational will be sold in my area. I have noticed an uptick in bust, some outdoor huge grows, thousands of plants. I am hearing about Asian investors buying homes and blowing out the whole house. I am a little nervous about the bust.

I have to agree this is my favorite thread, no trolls, or crazy political shit. Fiddy you are a great host even online. Keep up the good work.

Fiddynuts spicy Cole slaw sounds like a great addition to pulled pork sandwich, I may be hitting you up for a recipe.

Hope all is well m8s! Pops, there is a thread Reiko started about popping old stock skunk seeds where many people put in their methods/ .02 about how to pop the old seeds. You can probably find your solution to old stock there. (I will have to say some of the methods are f ing ridiculous lol) good luck with them! Hope everybody else is doing well

Good afternoon pop_rocks.
I can't believe haw quickly '17 has gone by. I had big ganja garden goals for this year and, while I can't say it's been as successful as I'd hoped, I defenatly had some good runs and learned a lot. I lost time due to well issues and had some hermie issues with a couple grows but other than that I'd say it was I green year. You and the others here have been a big part of that success and thanks is in order. I too feel like it was yesterday that I joined the forums here and I now feel it was one of the best things I've done ever. I'm glad you have enjoyed the ride as much as I have.

We're going to need a big fire tomorrow. They are calling for some snow flurries in the morning and a slight chance of a little rain during the day, but it should be dry by evening. It's supposed to be about 40 during the day tomorrow and dropping into the low 30's in the evening. It was in the 70's last week so no time to adjust to the cold. You are right that there seem to be regions at the party. The kids and older folks seem to gather in the living room where they can chat. It's the younger crowd that drink more and like to puff bowls that seem to end up out on the deck around the fire. Like you, I cover the kitchen and make sure there's food for everyone and the deck where I keep the fire stoked. The jalapeño slaw is a bit of a work in progress, a recipe that I've added some things to. I'm still tweaking it but I'll be glad to post the recipe in its latest form after I make it tomorrow.

I think I've read that fox farms soil is mixed in several locations around the country so the ocean forest that you get dosent come from the same place as the stuff I get around here. That would explain the diffrent bugs we get. I am sure I've seen gnats fly out of bags that I open. As far as bugs go the gnats are easy to deal with so I think I'm lucky there. Instead of putting the mosquito dunks on top of my soil I put it in the water and let it sit for a day or two before watering and it's working well like that.

A screen covering for seedlings is a great idea. The bugs I worry about most seem to be the really tiny ones so your right it would have to be really tight to keep them out.

I hope you guys have a good time at your buddies tonight. I like to do a 2 part trim where I get the fans and the bigger sugar leaves off right at chop then do a second trim once the buds shrink up and as I seperate them from the stalks. In the winter when I have low humidity I take less off on the first trim so it dosent dry too fast.

Just a few hours of work left this week and than its time to really get the house ready for tomorrow. I have to go and get the food tonight so I'm ready to get the butts on the smoker at 6am tomorrow. It's going to be a busy 36 hours but it will be fun once the guests get here.

I hope you have a great weekend...Fiddy.

Thanks brother. I'm glad you enjoy the thread as I do. I just want a place where we can talk growing or food or whatever. I don't like conflict or devision and we all seem to respect each other here. I'm glad to be a part of it but it's you guys that make this thread what it is.

I'll post up the recipe for the slaw in a day or two.

I might take you up on that someday. I like to travel and see the country but don't often find/make time. Maybe that will change!

/might take a while to get all the way through but im seeing some interesting stuff
still not having much luck wiht the seeds i have and i think im just going to drop all of the rest of them into water and see what i can get to sprout
/besides, they arent getting any younger so it will only get harder from today

thats a good point about the soil originating in different areas, fiddy

Elaborate on soil ‘bake’ please. Damn perfect sideS! Yeah I’ve cooked a pig or two in my life lol. Used to have them once to twice a year. Along w a crab boil or 2.

you bet,fish
before using bag soil, (or reusing any soil) i place it under a clear tarp in the yard for a few days/weeks
this creates a sort of greenhouse effect and sterilizes the soil before i bring it into the house
/what happens is the internal temperature of the soil gets crazy hot and pretty much kills anything living in there
mention crab boil and you are speaking my language, brother
i dont like most seafood but i love crab
i used to live on the gulf side of fla and have pulling up a few crabs traps
/most fish are good too, but lobster are way overrated in my book
we even had a neighbor who would pay me and my friend a nickle a piece for crawdaddies we would catch in the canal down the street
/ we were just sprouts and 5c was good money at the time

thats funny that kids have never heard of pen pals, rode'
i had a few back in the day and enjoyed getting the letters every now and then
the mrs calls you guys my internet friends

Good morning tribe.

I hope everyone had a great weekend. After a couple days of rest and recovery it's nice to be back in the jungle. The Halloween party went really well and the guests and hosts had fun.

@pop_rocks. Yes I remember we talked about baking the soil and I put a bag in my car for a couple hot summer weeks with windows up. I think it worked pretty well and I wish I'd have thought to do some more bags before summer ended. The butts turned out great, some of the best I've done. I cooked them a little hotter than I usually do at around 275 and I think they liked the heat.

@Packerfan. Glad to hear you are getting the season started. I hope the weather stays good.

@Rodehazrd. I like your description "a little crazy but compassionate" that fits me pretty well. I remember pen pals from back in the day one of my buddies had them all over the world. It was a great way to learn about others and their culture before this internet thing came around.

Hey Tribe,
That cooking the soil just seems wrong to me. Do you not value the microbial and fungal life already there enough to keep it? I guess starting with a clean slate appeals but I have been going the other way gathering humus and bugs from the woods and putting it in my mix to get a more diverse Population.
Here is my latest gift from the sprout so you can see I am gone down another rabbit hole I have my own local worm castings now too due to an earlier gift of wigglers. I think its tea time
