Good afternoon Floridian.

Glad to hear you are safe and I hope your houses were not damaged. Watching it on tv it looks like a lot of people in your area were lucky that she settled down a bit before passing through. You called it early last week that she was headed to Tampa. I hope Badfishy got through it as well as you did.

I saw the roots organic at the hydro store yesterday but they had at least a couple kinds. Do you use the original or some other type ( I think 707 might have been another type they had )?

Good afternoon pop_rocks.

How was your weekend? I always like to see the patriots loose. Their arrogant coach can suck my balls. No undefeated season for them hahaha.

That was the first time I tried the queso blanco recipe. I think I skimped on the vinigar a little and my curds were small. Too much vinigar makes it sour, but I'd use a full 1/3 cup next time. The ricotta curds will look similar to that. I have a recipe for cottage cheese. Better formed curds can be as big as your thumb. With a more traditional cheese you have to cut the curds as you are bringing the temps up.

I'm glad to here that schmoopy is doing well. Looking forward to seeing more of her. I bet she is growing like crazy.

I had forgotten that I needed some new t5 bulbs and noticed that a couple of them were out on Sunday morning so I had to make a run to the grow store. I got bulbs, a new micro nutrient, and a few other things. I also got a bubble cloner to try and a big block of coco. I want to experiment with the coco for the party cup grow and if I can get the hang of it I can experiment with using it for my grows.

It sure was nice to see the packers get a nice win on Sunday. The Seahawks always play tough against us. People can say what they want about the penalty early but it's a win. I was a bit surprised that it was such a defensive game. The packs defense has not been great the last few years so it's a good sign as well.

I'm glad you guys enjoyed your morning hike. We have had chilly mornings in the low 50's here so it's already getting to be sweatshirt weather for me morning walks with Rufus. Some of the trees are starting to turn colors already here. Looks like fall is a little ahead of schedule.

the seahawk are def top 5 as far as their defense goes, possibly top-3
good win for greenbay and gives them confidence for when the two teams meet again later in the season*
that sounds like nice weather
i tihnk dogs like colder weather than people and i know ukie is looking foreward to the fall temps
so the amount of vinegar effects the size of the curd?
how firm are these curds before you cut them, could you just use them whole, like a giant cheese stick thing?
/fry that baby up is what im thinking
that is awesome you know so much about this, man
its sometime i hope to try one day and its really fun to learn from someone who has actually done it

bubble cloners are cool, which one did you get
is it the one wiht he neoprene collars and a sprayer manifold below?
they are really cool and you can use them without rooting hormone and still get good results
/the collar ones are esp cool because you end up with this stick with roots dangling from it and can transplant that into any media
man, im totally dropping the ball wiht this beer cup challenge
i dont think i will be able to get in on this round but will follow along for sure

hope your week is off to a great start!

Hey Fiddynuts, you can bake the coco for a little while to kill fungus nats. I use the bags of canna coco. It's a little pricey especially when you are buying 15-20 bags, but I have never had to flush or deal with gnats. It I recommended to flush the bricks at least 1 time, and pre charge with weak nutes and cal mag. Coco has an affinity for cal and mag, it will actually pull it out of the plant, no Bueno. You shouldbe able to break off a chunk to use with out using the whole brick.

The roots 707 is their standard soil I belive. I think they have a chow mix type product, and a straight coco. The 707 is supposed to be a step above happy frog, but I love happy frog.

Yeah it was good to have a weekend to relax. My mother in law asked me to fix her lame ass sons truck on Sat. I told her I would sit back in my lounge chair and tell him what to do while the ladies serve me margaritas. Hum I am thinking bbq and ice cold margaritas for next weekend.

I was definitely glad our packers got the first win.still waiting for the fall weather, I was checking out the long term forecast, looks like 1st week of October will be the start of the show

Good afternoon pop_rocks.

You are right the packers and Seahawks seem to meet up in the postseason just about every year the last few and I don't expect this season to be any different. A win against them gives us a tiebreaker too just in case it comes to that. Love home playoff games in GB in January.

I love the warm (mid70's) days and cool nights. Nice and cool in the house and I sleep better this time of year. Rufus loves the cooler weather too.

The amount of vinegar affects how low the pH gets thus effecting how complete the curd coagulates. I haven't made it before so I'm just guessing the curds could have been bigger from the description in the recipe but it was vague and there are a lot of factors. So in more complicated enzyme and culture ripened cheese you are making curd over the course of several hours and the whole top of the pan becomes one big disc of curd. You have to cut them so you can separate them from the whey. Curds at this stage are very soft like yogart or a little firmer. And that's just the beginning with draining, pressing and all the other things that go into it. It can be a weekends worth of work or more to get a cheese ready to age and lots of hours of hands on work. It's pretty amazing how complicated it can be to make a cheddar or something like that. Take your time, watch some YouTube vids and start with an easy one like ricotta. And most importantly have fun.

The bubble cloner has the neoprene holders (24) but not the aero sprayers. It just has a pump that aerates and circulates the water res. I'm going to see how it works on back up cuts but will take cuts with the rooter plugs too so I'm sure I have saved the genetics. I have to get cracking on my cups too.

Good afternoon Packerfan.

Sounds good bud. I'll break off a chunk and get it expanded and flushed, boiled and ready to use. I'm going to have to read up on the feeding requirements and get a plan for feeding them. I think starting small in cups will help me learn without the pressure of needing the harvest.

BBQ and margaritas sound good. That's a great way to get the guy to fix his own truck. It's nice to be helpful but if you do all the work he will have learned nothing except to call you next time it breaks.

truer words were never spoken
you really said it well, fiddy and p'fan has the right idea

good to hear rufus is enjoying the changing season
im looking fore ward to fall too but expect the warm weather to stick around for a few more weeks
plus we have the santa ana season to look fore ward to coming in october
yeah, i will def check out some videos on youtube before taking the next step
i might even look into some kind of book
but the basic recipe you laid out looks good
i will have to get the milk, but i have the other stuff in the house
i kind of get the idea of the bubble cloner, sounds like its more a dwc cloner than an aeroponic one
if you have one, add an airstone (like you would for fishtanks), to the set up for even more bubbles

Yeah, his mommy paid 850to have pep boys to fix it.

Coco is pretty easy, let them dry out some for the first week or so, once they have a good root structure you can feed daily or more. Always feed , never water. You are basically flushing slightly each time. Always get at least 20 % runoff, and don't let them sit in the runoff. Sit back smoke a j and watch the magic happen

Hope all is well lads. Got home to all the trees blown down in the yard. (Un)Fortunately, none blew over onto the house. Would have been pretty amazing since I'm already getting bent over by the landlord, if they couldn't move their daughter into the house either. Oh well take it as it comes. The lady n kids are staying at her mother's until we have power again. So in the meantime it's just myself a chainsaw and my bitch

Good morning pop_rocks.

Rufus loves it when it cools off and even gets excited to run around when it snows. Most dogs seem to dig snow from what I've seen. Even with his short and thin hair Rufus dosent mind going for walks when it's below zero outside. My wife got him one of those dog jackets but he dosent seem to need it.

I remember those Santa Ana winds, even way up north they brought a lot of heat with them. Warmest days I've ever spent in the Bay Area were when those winds were going well. I bet it's a nice time of year there and you are enjoying it.

I'm a visual learner so vids help me get technique down more easily. The couple recipes I posted are easy and best for beginners to start to learn cheese making. Watching a few vids and taking your time will have you succeeding at your first try. If you like it and want to get to some more advanced cheeses then getting a good book will help and I can recomend a couple. But start with the basics and see how you like it.

I think your right it's a dwc cloner. I have a small air pump and a couple stones and I can run the air line down an empty collar. I've heard it takes some practice to develop a technique with them. I'm going to use rooters for the first cuts I take of my plants since I've had good results with them, then I'll take more cuts a couple weeks later and try the cloner.

Well, so much for BBQ and margaritas. I guess when mommy will pay there's no need to fix it himself.

I'm looking forward to this coco experiment. I love learning new things and this should be fun. I've read about how important it is to have the runoff in coco because the salts build up easily. The daily feeding will be something new for me for sure.

Good morning Badfishy.

I'm glad to here you and your family are ok. I hope you get power back soon so you can get on with it. Your landlord should appreciate you working on the trees. Most people would be waiting for someone else to do the work at a rental property. I hope for a speedy recovery for all affected by this storm.

The link isn't working so I can't see pic.

I'm into the coco too all the folk in Mesa use it saying peat is too acidic I think some experimenting is in order. I would be afraid to start next seasons crop out there in a new media though. I'll be watching to see how yours goes you keep such close tabs on your PH:tiphat:

Yes, fortunately. Publix across from in laws is open. Obviously no ice. Went to 7-11 across the street... they were open yesterday actually. From what I understand, fuel is a 2-3 hour wait. The 7-11 got a truck this morning and has another 2-3 on the way. (Immediately off 75). My brother in law is a fire fighter in Naples... that place is FUCKED. He has been working 24 on 8 off. Having to hand cut all the downed trees as they are trying to conserve fuel for power efforts. Basically all of colliers power grid needs rebuilt. Saying some will be without for 3 weeks. ( I would be surprised if half power is restored in 3 weeks to be honest). I'm expecting 2-3 weeks without and I am a bit farther north

We tried to get a refund on St George but were refused on tuesday, Wed. our realtor called back to say please don't come there's no food water or gas in the whole county. I had not thought out very far on six million people going north and half turning left into the panhandle. I am using my refund to put fixtures in the new bed and bath I am remodeling. I hope to do air bb while we are in mesa
