i used to love that show!
the earlier season were the best! when it was almost like the twilight zone and each episode was its own story; the later years not so much when it was all about the gov conspiracies and scullys baby
one of my favorite episodes was about a small town and vampires, i tihnk it was luck willson who played the sheriff and they told the story form both scully and mulders point of view
/just looked it up, it was called "bad blood" and was the 12th episode from the 5th season
i was suggesting pot roast for this weekend but i tihnk we are going to make chili instead for sunday
something super easy and fun to eat, i am going to have a big bowl of chili plus a chili dog or two! plus we will have enough for lunches next week

that sounds like a fun halloween p'fan
it seems to be less going door to door now and more about events for the kids
that is great that the kids like their grandparents and i know its good for our parents too to be around the young ones
i hope your wife likes her new job,man
that is a special type of work and it takes a special type person to do it

i hope you find those bangers, fish
its fun to experiment with breeding your own and i hope you keep us posted on how they come along
what is the lineage of these plants you crossed?

one more day to go fellows and its the weekend
im super excited and hope you all finish off your week strong!

Good afternoon pop_rocks.

It was a great show wasn't it. I loved that some of the episodes were stand alone and some were part of the bigger long term picture. We use to look forward to Sunday nights for the show even though it meant the weekend was over. We just subscribed to Hulu which has every episode ever made and we have started watching them from the first one on. You are right that it got a bit weird at the end. I don't particularly remember the "bad blood" episode but I'll be watching it soon enough when we get to season 5. Since I don't dress up for Halloween I got a cancer man tee shirt to ware so i fit in with the theme. I find that the early to mid 90's when the show was newer was a great time for me and I always look back on things from that time period fondly.
Chili is another great thing to make ahead of time and just eat as you get hungry, which usually results in me eating several bowls of it in a day. I love a good chili, especially this time of year when there is a chill in the air. I think it also lends itself to great leftover options like chili dogs, chili nachos, even chili and cheese is a tortilla like a chilli enchilada can be a good way to go. Are you a beans or no beans guy? I usually add a can or two of beans to mine but not too many. A little cheese, sour cream and green onion on top and it just dosent get any better.
In other news I picked up a couple bags of a new soil last weekend and potted up a mom into it this week. It's roots soil I got a bag of the original and a bag of the 707. The original is more like happy frog and the 707 has some feed like ocean forest. But unlike the fox farms which is peat based the roots is coco fiber based and has a lot more perlite. I also got a wetting agent called coco wet and I've had better results watering the plants I have in fox farms soil with it in my mix this week. I'm way behind on taking cuts for my next cycle, after doing a few back to back it looks like I'll get at least a couple week break between this run and next. Other than that it's just the normal stuff in the jungle.

im wasnt familiar with "roots soil 707" so i went to the companies web site
does it come in that bag like that? it looks good and i might have to try it out myself
was it about teh same price as teh fox farm? keep us posted on your thoughts, especially re: the707 (707 is the area code for a part of n.cal that is know to grow some dank weed)
i really like chili so im not too picky on how its made
we make ours with beans in it most of the time but the mrs can also amke a mean vegetarian chili, you are right that it goes with so many things too!
its getting to be that time of year when we will start making a lot of coups and stews and stuff like that, this it the time for eatting good
thats so cool that you are rewatching the old x-files with your lady
i remember how it made sunday nights special for me too
if you are watching the from the begining you have to check you the one about the author jose chung is from outer space
its has a great story line and is another of my favorites, where are you guys at in the seasons right now?
its been raining here and kind of cold here but im really enjoying the change in seasons
we are going to go on a rain walk later tonight and i wouldent mind if it just rained all weekend

Hey Guys,

Got super busy lately but it makes time fly, and I am a day shy of 2 weeks of flower and they are looking good, I will post some new pictures on my thread later. I started taking some classes at the local CC for fun, I have a photoshop class later today, I am hoping to get some nice pictures of my 6 girls as they gain weight and start to glisten, I have seen some great photos on this site.

I loved X-Files too, and agree it got weak in the end, but the early shows are great, I will have to do some binge watching for old times sake, maybe next week when I am home alone and up to no good. I was so excited whren the movie came out too, but it was a let down, imo.

Our neighborhood as a ton of kids and the street just below us, makes a cool maze/haunted house, not too scary for the little kids but our neighborhood can become a zoo. The funny thing it doesn't always translate to trick or treaters, some years are dead and others super busy and we run out of candy early, always hard to judge how much candy to buy. I worked at a Kodak lab years ago and the pictures after Halloween were always a ton of fun to look at.
Fiddynut - What a game last night, your Brewers are adding to my gray hairs with the tight rope walk they performed in the 9thand 8th, but got the job done, one down 3 more to go.
Poprocks, Ya I could go for a weekend of rain but it's already clearing on the coast at 730 here, but i will take what we can get, I have a feeling this may be a wet year, hope so. Did you see they confirmed the Shark attack in Encinitas was a Great White, they took a DNA sample from the kids wet suit, I haven't been out since then but its more lack of time and weather.

yeah i saw the news about the shark attack, rocker
i hope this dosent become a trend where we start to see more shark/ people interactions here in so.cal
o hope it rain again later tonight man
it came down pretty good last night and we even saw some flashes of lightening
/i had to enjoy a couple joints on the porch with the mrs to take it all in
thats cool that your neighbors host a haunted house for the kids and i hope you guys get a nice turn out of trick or treaters on halloween night
hey, thats kick ass man that you are taking a class at your local college
photoshop is am amazing program and the only limit is your imagination
i hope you have fun in the class and learn a lot
have a great weekend brother and sty dry!

Hope all are well. The Affie that was stalled out seems to be growing a bit in height. But what is weird is her lower branches have almost passed the top. The one issue is now the upper set of fan leaves is shading and holding the lowers down. Not really sure what is going on with it. But whatever, I’m weird she’s weird so we go together like grilled peanut butter and banana! So whack. And before anybody throws shade on grilled peanut butter and banana, all you foodies must try it before looking like a dummy lol. Yup product of the south!
As far as sharks go, as stated before, fuck em. You boys be good this weekend and don’t do anything I wouldn’t (not much)

Happy Saturday friends.

So I woke up this morning and looked outside and everything was covered in frost, I even had to scrape my windows on my car before going to the gym. Looks like summer is really over here in the north.

What a game last night baseball fans. I must make an embarrassing confession that I dosed off in my chair and missed a lot of the late fireworks. It was 6-1 Milwaukee and I had had a few drinks and thought that the game was in hand. When I woke up and saw the highlights I wasn't sure if maybe it was better I slept through it to save myself the stress. But the important part is that we won the game and the first game of the series and seem to have kept the momentum going in our favor. The Brewers late relievers are the best in the game so if they can overcome a rare bad performance by them and win the game they should be riding high for this afternoons game 2. Last night was the crews 12th straight win and the Brewers haven't done that since 1987. I have a good feeling about the run that the Brewers are making this year.

@pop_rocks. I'll keep you posted on how the roots soil does for me. So far so good on the one plant I've planted in it. The soil is about 30 bucks a bag but they are a lot bigger bags than the fox farms soil so not sure if it's more or less costly. I'm also very close to being ready to do some soil amending and moving twards a more natural methods so this should be an interisting jurny. More on that later.
You are right that there are a lot of ways to make chilli and all can be great. I've never had a full vegetarian chilli but I'm sure it would be great. I think we've talked in the past about how versatile chilli is and how many ways there is to make it. From white chicken chilli to green pork to the red beef they are all great.
We're still on season 1 of X-files but I'll keep an eye out for the episode you speak of. I hope you have a great weekend and your chilli turns out delicious.

@rocker. Taking a few classes is a great way to keep the brain in good working order. The mind is kind of like a muscle and needs exercise too I believe. Photoshop sounds like a good thing to get to know, we love our pictures here on the mag. Rewatching the old x-files episodes is really a nice blast from the past so to speak. It brings me back to a simpler time in my life. Hulu has all of them. You are right that the movies were a bit of a let down when everyone was hoping for a lot more. Great show though.
That's great that your neighbors get into Halloween so much. All the kids must have such fun! I bet you would see some interesting things while working in a photo lab.
Man the Brewers sure are providing some excitement. They demoralized Kershaw when our reliever hit the bomb off him and the flood gates opened. It got close but in the end the win gives a huge advantage in the series. 3 to go for sure brother.

@Badfishy. I'm glad your affie is coming around. I've had a few plants grow like that, where the lowers grow taller than the main stem, but only after topping them. I like branchy plants. Will you defoliate? I have had peanut butter and banana sandwiches and you are right they are damn good! I hope you have a great weekend.

its funny how fast the seasons can change, brother!
last week was cool and on friday night we has a big storm roll through
the weekend was cozy and cool but today it feels like spring time
we have a santa ana blowing through so its pulling the warm air from the desert over socal
i watch the saturday night brewers game my man
you guys have an exciting line up and it looks like some of your players can hit
we will have to see how it goes tonight for the brew crew, but i had a lot of fun watching the baseball
there was some good football this weekend too and the chiefs/ patriots game was one of the best games so far this season
this kid mahomes is for real and i cant wait to see how he finishes off the season
the early eppisodes of the x-files were some of the best so im sure you guys are enjoying your tv time and with the cold weather it gives you a great excuse to ride the couch a bit
the chili came out amazing, lots of beans and ground meat and tons of flavor
we will definitely be making that again soon, but this time we will doubly everything so we have more left overs
green pork sounds really good, im sure weve talked about it before, but could you run down the recipe again?
keep us posted on your thoughts re: the new soil
are you adding anything to the straight roots soil this first run?
i think you should just let her ride and see how she does on her own, before adding anything else to the mix
maybe stick to your previous regime but just use a different soil mix (roots v foxfarm) and see how the two are different

so how was everyones weekend? what are your garden aplns for the fall?
hope everyone is having a great monday and getting their week started off on the right foot
looking forward to watching some baseball tonight (the mn'football game isnt that good) and maybe frying up some chicken

Good morning pop_rocks.
Yep the seasons are changing quick in these parts. The trees all have their beautiful fall colors and in a couple weeks they will be loosing the leaves. It finally quit raining long enough for the trails to dry out and my bro and I went for a great mtn bike ride yesterday. It was in the mid 50's and the dirt was nice and tacky. It's mostly through the he woods and there were a lot of leaves down allready which made it even more beauty out there. It's great this time of year when you can see more in the woods because the leaves arnt so thick. It had been so long, we really needed that ride. Looks like forcast is for dry all week and I should be able to get more before work rides in.
I'm glad you got to see the game on Saturday. Unfortunately not the crews best performance. They had a hard time getting anything going on the bases and another uncharacteristic lead given up late. Tonight is a very important game. Because of the format for a best of 7 we only get the first 2 games at home and then 3 in LA. If you loose a home game it's kind of like loosing home feild advantage because of how they schedule them. I'm still feeling good about the Brewers chances!
I'm glad your chilli turned out great! It sounds delicious. I will look up some pork chili Verde recipes and share them soon. I might even make some today.
I hear you on wanting to do a run in the new soil before messing with it. The one plant I transplanted into it is doing well so far without adding anything. But my plan is to start mineralizing and amending my soil to get to a more natural way of growing. I've been getting ok results but I know my plants can do better. I will start with the minerals like soft rock phosphate , gypsum, and lime but I want to start amending more of the nutrients as well. It should be a fun journey. I'll go further in depth with what I'm thinking in a jungle update soon.
I'm glad you had a good weekend and I hope your week is off to a great start!

Hey Guys fun week-end but now it's back to the grind.
Pop Rocks - Definitely a change in the weather from the Santa Ana winds, wow. It was cool and dry this morning early but warmed up rather nicely, especially inland where I am now, my tent has been at 50-60% RH in the morning it was 33% this morning, dry, dry wind. I had to laugh reading you guys go back and forth on the Chili, my wife on cue made Turkey Chili last night, she like to be healthy. Green Verde Pork Chili sounds so good, I like to make Green Pepper enchilada's but Chili sounds awesome. I've been meaning to ask you are you still a Charger fan? I personally gave up on the NFL, but I peak at it, if I am honest, I grew up a Rams fan in Orange County they moved to St. Louis when I was a kid then, as an adult to have the Charger Ownership screw us I threw in the towel on the NFL. I lived in Boulder, Colorado for 10 years, so I follow the Buffalo's, it was a blast living in a college town, even when the team was no good. This year they are good, unfortunately had first loss, Saturday to USC, but it was a good game.
Fiddynut your bike ride reminds me of some Colorado rides I used to take, I miss mountain biking so much, California we have it, but you have to drive to find any decent trails, and it's not woods like what you have, leaves changing, sounds really cool, I love fall colors. The Bullpen, bummer what a time to have a bad stretch, but it's a long season and arms get tired, and all teams deal with it, hopefully the trainers are getting them all ready, like you said, tonight is a very important game for the Crew, almost a must win, not exactly but a loss will really put them in a tough spot. I'll be rooting them on from So. Cal. Class was way cool, I learned a lot over 2 Saturday's, last week was basic's of touch up but yesterday we learned some advanced stuff like adding people into pictures, and adding layers for text or effect, was well worth my time. Ya trying not to veg out too much, I can park my ass in a chair and binge watch with the best of them, lol.
Badfish - I am with ya, Shark's just suck, and I think what went down here was related to the lobster season opening up that morning. The water is their world, I try to respect that and not do anything to arouse their attention. Hope the Affie picks it up for ya.

Everyone have a great week, and go Brewers!

it sounds like a really nice ride fiddy, and i hope you guys get a few more rides in
have you taken the fat bike out in the snow much yet?
it might take the trails a day or two to dry out and soon we will be able to go on our night rides again
im going to make some fired chicken strips tonihgt for dinner, got the chicken in a little seasoning now and will get them in the oil here soon
i would really enjoy the pork chili verde recipe when you find it
ive been taking a break from the garden for the past few weeks but am starting to get my seeds sorted for this next run, i will post up a short list when i get to that point and like to know what you guys think
i will definitely be starting a few od the fruity jack, a high cbd strain and i might run the peyote purple again this season, but i might hold that off for the 2nd round indoors

glad to hear you are enjoying your class, rock'
its great to keep learning new things and it sounds like you are having a good time of it
what kind of effects are they showing you guys using layers, stuff like shadows and cool things with opacity
that is so funny that your wife made turkey chili this past weekend too!
must be the changing seasons man because it was perfect chili weather
stick around brother, me and f'nut talk about food almost as much as we talk about growing
sad to say im not a chargers fan anymore
but its funny because like yourself i grew up a rams fan in santa barbera but became a chargers fan back in the 80's when we moved back to san diego
while i still have some great memories (and a bunch of not so great memories) over that time i just dont dig the way spanos handled the whole negotiation with the city
as far as im concerned he is a turd and the biggest reason im not going to follow the team anymore
a few days of really low humidity shouldent hurt the plants at all and i wonder how much longer the santa anas are going to last
so what do you like to binge watch on tv?

I can get my wife's chili verde recipe for you guys. She makes some fuego chili verde. Old school Mexican Ovalita style.

The change of seasons came on really quickly. We had crazy winds today 60 mph gusts. I have been lighting the fireplace most nights. I have been bringing home cutoffs from the shipping department. They bundle it up for me, I give them my recyclables. Fair trade in my book. I got a little stock pile now.

My wife starts her new job tomorrow . I am slammed with a bunch of custom work (PIA).

I am going to be building a small cabinet for veg and clones.

@ pop rocks, how did the Tahoe come out ?

that would be great p'fan, i bet her chili is awesome
yeah man, the santa ana winds were cranking today and im getting shocked by everything
burning some wood in the fire place sounds like just the thing when the nights get cool
that sounds like a sweet deal you have going at work and a good source of wood, what kind of stuff are you bringing home?
i wasnt that impressed with the tahoe to tell you the truth, brother
im still deliberating the final product but overall i found it lacking in the nose and only packed a medium hit

Maybe you should give the Tahoe a try inside, not all strains are suited for the great outdoors.

The wood is pine 2x4's and 1x4's, most are 16 plus inches long. it burns quickly but can't beat it for free. The new house has a huge fireplace. Takes up the whole wall.

Greetings friends.

After a tough loss in game 2 the brew crew won a big game 3 last night. The Dodgers are pitching well to keep the Brewers to just 3 or 4 runs a game so far. What wasn't expected is that the Brewers starters are pitching even better than the Dodgers are. The brew crew pitchers deserve a lot of props for doing what they are doing here. With four games left in the series we have 2 wins to get to move on to the World Series. I am cautiously optimistic that they will get back to the series for only their second time and the first since 1982.

@rocker. Green pepper enchiladas sounds great! I use to get these things at a place in Berkeley that were tortillas with a thick Mexican cream, peppers and onions. They were my favorite thing to get at that place and some of the best food I ever had. Pops is right we talk a lot of food in this thread. I've been on a bit of a health kick and eating less the last 9 months or so but still love good food.
I'm kind of done with the NFL too. I am a spoiled packer fan but I'm old enough to remember when they were a joke. My frustration comes from having a couple of the best quarterbacks to ever play the game playing for the last 20 plus years and only two rings. To me that is way underperforming. What a waste. Management and coaching have allowed the team to underperform for way too long and it's depressing.
Have you ever been to a game buff's game? I went to the dead and company shows at the stadium in Boulder last July and had a great time. What a cool stadium ant town.
We have some great mtn bike trails here in wisco. I've got a friend near Boulder that races mtn bikes and he says that the trails here are as good as anywhere. He raced the Leadville 100 this year and is way more of an athlete than I am. I've been looking forward to fall riding for the whole summer and I hope it stays dry so that I can get a lot of trail time in before the snow hits.
I think the Brewers will be ok. The same guy is the one who has given up the runs and everyone else is still dialed in. They went to JJ again last night and he had trouble again but was able to work through it.

@pop_rocks. I didn't get out in the snow last spring and it hasn't snowed yet this year so I don't have any snow bike time in yet. I'm not sure how well my bike will do in the snow because it's only a mid-fat tire. I am defenatly thinking about getting a full fat tire bike for snow.
How did your chicken strips turn out? I'm sure they were great. I'd love to see what packerfans chilli verde recipe is like. In the past I've loosely followed some recipes on the Internet. I mostly wing it but pork shoulder chunks, poblano peppers, tomatillos, onions and garlic are the key. I roast the peppers and tomatillos and peal them and put them in the blender to make a smooth sauce. I brown the pork, add the onions and garlic, then the blended tomatillos and peppers. Add a jalapeño or two for heat. Simmer for a couple hours and eat.

I sure hope so, boy that was the most intense 4-0, great finish. I was really happy for Chacin, he deserved better, that error knocked him out of the game and he was battling, like he always does. He pitched for the Rockies when I was in CO, and then was with the Padres last year, maybe two but he has had a solid year for you guys and pitched lights out in the playoffs.

Man you got me jonesing to get my bike out, wifie and I were just saying how we miss Boulder and biking this AM, we saw an article on housing and the price explosion, anyway I got to get my bike out and go hit some trails this week-end.

Need to run, but I had to chime in on the Brewers.
