What's new

Ferrari, Porsche or Mustang ?

Yeah the gts's are sweet, and I love the noses on them. I disagree on the 968 however, I always thought the 4 cyl was a big let down.

In the next few years (money and time dependent) I would like to build my own aluminum chassis and either make a body out of carbon fiber or abs..... I just find myself always "ok" with my cars, but want to build something out of parts drawn from different vehicles. Think first gen Focus steering and front suspension, with a Cadillac northstar engine AND trans mid mounted. I've been designing a pretty sweet rear suspension that is a mix between a buick GNX, a Baja truck, and a corvair...... It's excellent in theory, and it would move the engine's weight forward about 6-7 inches from the rear wheels, giving LOTS of traction and throttle would increase the grip. But I have a feeling that when the car would be pushed beyond the limit it could be even more treacherous than a 911.

Im a Porsche guy as well. Ferraris are amazing cars to look at and listen to, but are way to fragile. Anyone I have known with one hates to drive it because they don't want to put miles on the car. If im going to pay that kind of money for a car I want to drive it and experience it

To each their own, but I feel like the modern crop out of Modena is all pretty butt-ugly.

A BB512 though, or 246 Dino... meow!

Got to say for the money I would be down with the new corvette. But if i had to choose between porsche and ferrari. I'd reluctantly take the porsche turbo.

well said pizzaman,,,,
I have owned 911s,,87 3.2 coupe with g50 gearbox, 964 c2,,996c4s [worst car out of my porsches] also 928s4 and a 968 sport over the years but still my only long term keeper is my s2,,,very practical for daily driving compared to many other earlier porsches although I tend to use it at weekends now only and use my golf mk5 r32 as a daily,,,lambos too hard to live with,,,
love fezzas but not for me plus could never afford to run one ,how I would like to ie= using her as a daily driver in and around London would be totally impractical and woud get massive bills and I am a Porsche man through and through lol,,,,,now a 993 turbo s really rocks my boat lol

Why didn't you like the 996 ? I am lusting after the 996TT, they are at their bottom price now and about to go up, probably not to 993T levels, they are already up to 6 figures and almost unusable because of this.

I'll just throw a vote in for Porsche here. Not adding this to get shit on or anything, just simply saying that my 2010 Cayman S is fast (of course not the fastest but doing 72 mph in second gear in a 6-speed manual is new to me), fun, very well-balanced (mid-engine- gotta love it), and was very reasonably priced in the used car market. I purchased mine for 20,000 usd, less than it was brand-new and it had only 24,000 miles on it and was in showroom condition.
I love Porsche's. If you have never driven one, go out and take a test drive for the fun of it. That's not to say anything about the other cars. Just tossing a vote in for Porsche.

Ahhh yes. This thread is awesome.

and LOL at anyone who would take a Porsche over a Ferrari.

Too general of a statement. I would take a 991 GT3 RS over a Ferrari FF or California every time. The 991 GT3 RS will also out track a Speciale. The 918 is faster than a LaFerrari and better looking IMO.

I sell these types of car for a living. Ferrari includes pre-paid maintenance on all 2012+ cars for 7 years. Also the Dual Clutch transmissions Ferrari is using, are way more reliable than the F1s.

Porsche still makes a faster more reliable machine, but the Ferrari is far more sexy and exotic. I have spent a lot of time in various Ferraris and there is nothing like them.

That said, I would take a 991 Turbo S, as my all around sports car.

At the end of the day Ill take a Mustang...:biggrin:https://www.icmag.com//www.pinterest.com/pin/create/extension/

McLaren makes a bad ass car, but they are pretty squirrelly. Rear wheel drive, and a twin turbo V8 make for a tail happy car.

The tires take a little while to get some heat in the, but once you do, the car is great. I like the styling of the McLarens, but they all look kind of the same.

The 650S is supposed to be vastly better than a MP4-12C, and I didn't feel it when driving both cars. The 650S looks a little better, and has slightly more power, but not enough to but it over the MP4.

Bringing out the 650S, absolutely killed the value of the MP4-12C, which makes it one of the best values out right now.

Here is a 2012 with 4900 miles on it for $167k. http://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/detail/636655422/overview/

That is a steal for a car of that caliber. You can barely get a 911 Turbo for that money, much less a exotic with the amount of eyeball a MP4-12C has.

650S Spider I drove.
