AP WASHINGTON — The federal government says it will not sue to stop the states of Colorado and Washington from allowing recreational marijuana use.

I imagine instead they'll just send goons to destroy the business property of citizens, and steal their money, without "officially" pressing charges in court.

To my knowledge, that's been the M.O. in use for quite some time now.

Call me crazy, but I don't see citizens standing for this kind of heavy handed and ludicrous approach for too much longer.

It's probably much more profitable to wait it out, raid pot shops and grows and seize everything they own and every penny they have.

Don't be fooled, they are still raiding and putting up every road block possible for pot businesses.

DOJ Won't Sue Colorado, Washington Over Marijuana Legalization Laws

The Justice Department will not sue Colorado and Washington over their marijuana legalization laws, a department spokesman told TPM on Thursday afternoon, announcing a change in marijuana enforcement policy. The aide said the DOJ has spoken to the state's two governors and has received reassurances that state enforcement of the laws will not infringe on a series of a new federal priorities the Department is set to release.
"The Attorney General has called the two governors of those states today and told them ... it's up to them to make sure they're able to regulate their marijuana policies significantly to make sure it doesn't infringe on our enforcement priorities," he said, speaking on condition of anonymity. "Based on assurances from the two governors that the laws will not infringe on them, the DOJ is not going to seek to challenge those two laws."
The DOJ will reserve the right to challenge the laws in the future if they run afoul of the new federal priorities.
Deputy Attorney General James Cole sent a memo to U.S. attorneys outlining the new marijuana policy and enforcement priorities, which can be read in full below.

When they take it off the Schedule 1 list I'll jump for joy...but not until then.

A few years back they said they would back off the med folks and what happened...??? They will bring folks out in the open and then start picking them off like ducks on a pond.

8 Days before this statement was posted, his office conducted 8 raids on businesses in one medical state.

Say one thing, do another. When will people learn?

Damn politicians.

edit: So they did a major pullback, right after they did a major enforcement push. riiiiiight. I was for the war, before I was against it.

We'll just have to see how this plays out...I doubt it's as cut and dried as it seems (it needs to cure first). ;)
