First concert I ever seen,
09/16/74
Blue Oyster Cult
Paramount Theatre, Wilkes Barre Pa.
Have seen them many times always great. Some of the sets were too short in the mid 80s and early 90s. Last time I saw them was 1999 I think, Heaven Forbid tour anyways and all I could say is "THERE BACK AND TAKING NAMES". Hinted to the boys about that DVD they got for Xmas, we'll see. WOW just at there web site, looks like a road trip, be seeing them again early next year. [Insert picture of old man MOSHING here!]
12/29/03 American Airlines Arena, Miami, FL
Set I: Piper, Foam, Anything But Me, Limb By Limb, Wolfman's Brother, Poor Heart, Cavern
Set II: Rock and Roll> Twist> Boogie On Reggae Woman> Ghost> Free, The Divided Sky, Good Times Bad Times
Encore: Waste, The Squirming Coil1
1 The band left the stage after completing "Waste", and then returned for a second encore of "Squirming Coil"
pay attention to the 2nd set on that one...rockin' show, crazy energy, if you look in the 2nd set they didnt even take a break until after free...a good solid 50 some minutes of raging...
then i did their entire june 04 tour from New York > Wisconsin...
a standout show from that tour imo would be:
06/19/04 Saratoga Performing Arts Center, Saratoga Springs, NY
Set I: Reba, Runaway Jim, NICU> Scents and Subtle Sounds1, Wolfman's Brother, Walls of the Cave> David Bowie
Set II: Song I Heard The Ocean Sing, Piper2> Gotta Jibboo> Limb By Limb, Cavern
Encore: Wading in the Velvet Sea
1 did not include the introduction found on the album
2 with Tweezer Reprise tease
i was gonna say the roots rock reggae festival where everyone from the marley family preformed with slightly stoopid opening, but blueman group was a great experiance indeed... so thats my favorite, i def. need to go to more concerts and explore the possibilities of festies!.
The private Love4oneanother shows Prince played at paisley park a few years ago was nice. Shows were every sturday night and free admission. $$ at the door was donations that went to charity. Most people gave $50-$100. Prince would walk around before the show and you would be right by him able to talk with him. then he would hop up on stage and just play. He would do hendrix covers that were amazing! Most shows lasted 4 hours and they were total jams. He would ask audince what they wanted to hear and he would play it. his song or not.
No pre planned set list shit like there is today. no 60 minute show of hits. Just making fans happy and having fun playing music
the spac piper from that show i posted second is better than the miami one in my opinion...but the miami piper is nasty too...you have to definitely keep in mind that it was an opener...and set the mood for that evening...good times.
