As for the idea that a "large portion" of the millions of people who watch that show will think it's true, how many people is a "large portion"? Fifty people? Because 99% of the people who watch Family Guy either already smoke, or at least know it's less dangerous than alcohol and tobacco. And lastly,

When was the last time you saw Family Guy send a serious message about school or drugs or cancer research? Are you confusing it with Family Matters? That's not the Urkle that we're talking about at ICMag bro. Stick with Saved By The Bell and Boy Meets World if you want a sitcom with a message.

oh well. i've learned from my angry, jealous and insecure ex girlfriend (not saying u have those traits, just sayin that's where i learned to give up from) that you don't argue with someone who's just not agreeing with me. you have your thoughts, views, and ideas and i accept and respect that you're sticking to them. i have my consumer behavior experience and i'll stick to that. i hear you. i just really can't agree with you. like my ex, i'll leave it at that! thanks for responding!

herb is a psychotopic substance, which is a lesser form of a psychadelic, which is what acid is. a damn fine sativa can almost be acid-like.

anyways, Seth MacFarlane, the creator of family guy, is a smoker. i highly doubt he was trying to demean the herb. i have seen the episode. it's not as bad as you make it out to be.

maybe i am a little worked up. i can admit that. but my sense of humor is quite amazing if i do say so. i laugh at just about anything and everything, even the not so funny stuff. i get it all!

i am just taking it all in context. my experience in dealing with people in general, my totally understandable paranoia of the government, and it's control of the media. i've read deeper into the issue. should i take a step back? HELL NO! i like the reading between the lines and putting things together. and i still think there's more to it than just a lame ass joke! maybe it was just the bad delivery and timing of it that got me in conspiracy mode. but shit, i'd gladly do it again and again and again! someone's gotta be paying attention, even to the false-positives. i'll gladly be wrong 100 times just to be right once! someone's gotta do it!

I don't think it's that big of a deal. A lot of people who watch family guy are pro marijuana anyways, plus most people are either smart enough to know they are just kidding when they say it's the same as acid or they are smart enough to not use cartoons as their source of information regarding drugs.

There are many more examples that this show is NOT a propaganda machine, but these came to mind immediately. It was just showing us the BS they teach kids in public school regarding drugs these days. You should take up this crusade with FOX News instead of FOX. They provide a lot more (blatant) misinformation every hour than you could find on FOX in a week.

As to the original poster, you obviously didn't get the point of that joke. By lumping all that ridiculous shit in with the other BS that the govt keeps telling us, they're making the point that it is all in fact bullshit. Anyone who knows that show knows that they weren't making a serious point. After all, Brian is the most intelligent character on the show, and he's always smoking lately. Lois even put bud in his jacket pocket before he went to the prom with Meg.

Yeah, I saw this episode too.. I think they *might* have been a bit sarcastic with the whole acid thing, dont you think? You may be overreacting a little.

I've seen several episodes recently where they reference weed, and its never in a Reefer Madness/marijuana is the devil-type manner, more like coming from someone who smokes themselves.

I wouldn't read too much into one joke that perhaps you didn't find funny or didn't get. Doesn't mean they've joined the ranks of the bullshit-spewing anti weed movement.... relax, dood.

I've had a lot of friends over the years that SWEAR they can write poetry better, come up with better stories, etc... but sitting around and observing while sober, I found it to be quite the opposite. Not everyone had this problem, admittedly. But a lot of folks do. Not that I care, they can be funny to watch, especially when I'm baked.

it's true, man, at least for some people. I couldn't write shit after being put onto probation. And yes, I was an avid writer prior. I've been published in High Times and two literature mags.

I am now off probation, but haven't been able to capture the same creative magic. Everything I write now turns into a political piece on why America is teh suck.
