Throughout the summer months here in nor cal there is camp. The understanding is that they use airplanes taking areial photos. I can confirm this by hearing light prop aircraft flying lines for a few days in a row. These photos are then taken and looked at. A large garden sticks out like a sore thumb, smaller ones less but nonetheless they are noticable.
Now sometime in late august or early sept, the choppers take to the air fully aware of the locations of large crops. camp is funded by the numbers of plants collected. If they spent all day going after gardens with less then 100 plants they might ge ta few hundred in one day. They are not so interested in these small gardens as much as they are looking for the ones that number into the thousands.
In my area in southern trinity county I think the camp raids lasted one day and i'm sure they went for the largest gardens probably over 10k plants. I saw 6 choppers all headed to the same area just out of sight. Currently there is so much weed grown on public lands and on private lands owned by logging companies by mexican DTO's that there is no way this could happen by just looking out of a helichopper add the cost of a pilot crew and chopper gas and the airplane theory holds alot of water.
I can also add that after I heard the airplane recon, about a week later the sherrif mentioned in the newspaper that there is alot of weed grown on pulic lands and thet camp will be targeting those areas and a week later the choppers did its raids.
So, thats how it happens to my best knowledge. My advise is grow smaller then your neighbor, keep it under 100 plants and never too many in one place and never on public land. I thinks that all for now and q's Ill try my best to answer. SmokeAnother
