EZ-Cloner review

alot of people go by look / smell. some go a week, some two, most just till roots, i guess it depends on your past experience with slime etc.

i let it run till theres a ass load of roots. almost 3 weeks, not much more. i let them veg alittle in there too. as you will see when u clean it. these fuckers get dirty as shit.
you should have roots by day 10. but let it got another day or 2 then check them. those extra days go a long way.

I let it ride, I also check it everyday to make sure nothing bad is happening in there.

definitely check it daily, i dont know how. but some of my coco found its way into my cloner. clogging up misters, so much i had to pull them off and poke them w a pin to unclog it.
since then ive been going the extra mile, and filling the cloner w water directly from my reverse osmosis system, instead of moving it in a dirty watering pale.

That coco does get around.

I always check the cloner daily, make sure nothing is getting strange. Around day five or so I always notice the water changes smell. It doesn't smell bad, it smells a little... metallic?

Dunky are you using tap water? My water smells "earthy" the whole way thru, but I use RO.

It could be the metals in your tap water, maybe.

yea, water quality can b a big part of not getting roots. i have a friend that cant use his e z cloner at one spot bcuz of the water...
i had trouble last round, BIG tip, and will save u cuts. CHECK YOUR REVERSE OSMOSIS FILTER. (if you have one) heres a picture of my old one... b4 i replaced her, she was putting out 2 PSI, instead of the reg 50 PSI!!
i got nice clean water now. and everythings rooting up. EWC tea helped alot!

Looks like you might as well have.

I did use tap @ 150ppm. I started another batch of tea and I'll use straight r/o. The cloner instructions say tap, and I've been hearing canna recommends tap for their nutes, so I've been flip-flopping around between r/o and tap with chlorine bubbled out.

Using tap is definitely location specific. Fortunately, some have great local sources while others have terrible water supplies. Where I live the water has chlorine, flouride, a pH well over 7 and a PPM count I'd bet is well over 300. I must look like either a health nut or a guy with no running bath water when I go buy 5-6 gallons of water at a time. :D

Fwiw, a heating mat will suffice if low water temp is an issue. Along with the slight temp increase from the pump placing a mat under the bin (I have a DIY EZ) gets water temps up to 75-76. A cheap fix for the what is IMO the most important aspect of the aero cloner - water temps.

Thanks for the heat mat tip, rasputin. I use a submersible aquarium heater with a built in thermostat, temps stay dead nuts at 78.

you shouldn't need a heat mat, i have the 30 site ez cloner. i have well water, all i put in my resovoir is water and advanced nutients (Jumpstart) and i dip the cuttings in Olivias gel and within 10-12 days there ready for the medium, my room temps vary from 70-76 degrees, good luck peace

Sorry to keep flogging the dead horse that is my ez-cloner, but here's the latest. Day 8 I swapped out the res, and though it was nice and clean, it did smell metallic, as mentioned before, and the pH was 7.3. I hadn't been monitoring the pH over the last week, didn't think I needed to, I'll think again. I have about six clones with short spiny roots, on clones that had the outer skin peeled away by accident. The roots are nice, but slow growing, maybe a couple mm a day. Half the remaining clones, of thirty total, have bumps, but no roots. The last half aren't showing much of anything. All the clones are just starting to show the slightest yellowing in the leaves. Using 40amps formula, the new stock in the res is pH 5.7 @ 80 ppm, 70 degrees and rising to 78. Even though this isn't spectacular, or anything like the results I see others getting, it is still better than past runs.

Dunky as you already know I am sure make sure that ph stays at around 5.8. It will rise drastically in the first 2 days of running in the cloner (the user manual tekks you this on the ez cloner). To make this adjustment I let the cloner ph level out before I use it and usually ph around 5.3 to start it. When it hits 5.8 I get the clones going and keep it in check from then on out.

Thanks 40amps, the pH had already climbed to 6.3 in 6 hours. But the spiny roots have also show visible growth in that short amount of time. pH huh? It's always the simple things.

i dont understand all the problems? the beauty of the EZ-Cloner is its simplicity! just add water and your favorite root accelerator, place cuts in grommets, mist daily, and DONT TOUCH ANYTHING, theres no need to even open the cloner or look at stems for the first 7-10 days. Anyone who says they have roots in 5 days is LYING to you, have patience give atleast a week, dont touch anything, and you should achieve 100% success, good luck and remember K.I.S.S

ok, so ive been thinking, and wondering if it works. or any one does this...
but i was thinking about getting a cheap coffee machine, and use it for EWC tea. seems like it would be easiest. i mean im using a coffee filter to filter it anyway. so why not, buy a machine that does it all.
fucking boiling poopy water on my stove.
has anyone tried this???
i was thinking i wouldnt put as much EWC as coffee it takes. prob half cup to a cup, so it doesnt clog up.

My first shot at ataching photos. If they come out right, these are the clones at 10 days, ewc stabilised @ 5.9 pH.
