External Breaker Boxs (30 amp + 50 amp) = DIY Tutorial ??

Mine makes a very faint buzz/hum sound. I had to put my ear to it to hear it over the fans and pumps, so not a big deal IMHO. The only noticable sound is when the box kicks on and off. Its a loud CLICK that *can* be heard through the wall. I live alone so I dont care but others might. The trigger cable to the remote timer keeps the load from going through that timer itself so I think its a pretty sound design that wont cause timer failures. Do you have a link for your T1033 timer DB?

Thanx a million for the insight DB2004, but with all this knowledge of panels and timer boxes that you posess, could you pass on a schematic or atleast a parts list to get one of these units accomplished?

thanx a million

The load center can be built at just about any hardware store, it's A Siemens Main Lug Load Center, model E0408ML1125. You can request flush or surface mount, you'll want surface, but flush style is fine. The Siemen breakers can also be purchased from hardware (Home Depot). The receptacles, gang-boxes, spacer nipples, wire, 30 amp dryer cord, etc can all be bought at Home Depot, etc. The contactors you'll have to see an electrical distributor. If you find an electrical distributor, you can probably get all the parts there. If you want a detailed parts list, let me know. I'll list everything from the loadcenter to the terminal lugs. As for a schenatic, I can email you a few internal pix. Unless you're comfortable with electrical, I wouldn't attempt to build.

Best Regards

DB2004 i looked in your gallery but only found an old tv lol. Could you post a pic of your box and maybe a description thanks.

Don't know who's gallery you looked in, but there ain't no tv. Here's a pic of one style of load center I build. There are 8 timed 240V outlets, grouped in four for 2 double pole breaker. The other 4 15A breakers are for the 4 constant outlets. This loadcenter has no range cord, must be hard-wired to panel to a 60A dp breaker. I have other styles and variations for loadcenters.

Cesartime, I'll have send you a parts this by the weekend.

Best Regards

DB

hey thanks DB2004 your a big help srry about the tv thing it must've been someone else . I have a couple of questions if i can.
I need 1 220 outlet timed with one of those you recommend and 4 110 constant so...

1. what sized breaker would I need in the main box 30a?

2. What gauge wire should I run from main to sub?

3.what 1 or 2 breakers do i need in the sub panel?

thanks

I build these timerboxes for a living, sort of like cutting my own throat. Do you think CAP, GreenAir, Sunlight Supply, HID-Lite, etc, do they give out schematics, no they sell you a unit.

Hey DB sorry if I offended you by asking for a parts list. I was just looking back at post #24. where you offered to send someone a parts list. Just thought I would ask also.

No offense taken, I will post the parts list, assembling is a different matter. If you have the electrical aptitude and tools to build a timerbox, I wish you the best.....
