This is dumb as shit and really ****ing low on your part. If I was a maintenance person for an apartment complex and I was just doing my job and someone accuses me of stealing something I never took I would make the rest of your experience in that complex a living ****ing hell and if your accusations somehow get around and I lose my job you'll know you ****ed with the wrong person. I'm not intimidated by people so this trick wouldn't work on me for a second. Hell if I knew I did nothing wrong I would call the cops for ya' and then you can explain. My job and livelihood are far more important than your little closet grow even if it is for med. reasons.

Maybe what he did is dumb, but he had the right idea. I have been successful in an apt. for close to two years and around 6 grows... if the maintenance men need in I tell them I have had trouble in the past with apt. poeple commin in and found valuables/money missing so at least they know they aren't going in unless your home.

It's different for every situation and area but my #1 advice.... real advice not 'don't smell' or 'sell' those should be obvious if you want to grow... is to chose your apartment. Its all in the way they do things, where they are located and the kind of people that live in your area. Take time in choosing your apt.

Thats legitimate and no one should get angry if you tell them that but if you accuse me of stealing and I didn't I would make you never wanted to live there again.

Please elaborate...

Location Location Location... also growin' in apt.

I made sure to research nearly every apt. on the east side of my city before choosing. Picked a somewhat more expensive place in the best kept most luxurious apt. complex, located near a local mall and lots of public.

The real clincher for me was floor plans tho. Crime in the area is low and there are mostly families / non-college students living here. Application process was easy as well with no real income stating problems.

How do you pick your grow locations?

yo bateman, funny how you are living in luxurious apt. complex. just make sure you buy out the whole floor so you can chainsaw girls apart. also, if anyone asks you where you were, you respond with, "returning some videotapes". sorry, but american psycho was a great movie.

I have found that these kinds of areas are best. By this 'kind' I mean the more expensive, families living in them, and very professional. I believe you pay that extra penny for a reason most the time and it is privacy. I live in a very expensive apt. (around $850 a month for 1 bdrm, real expensive for where I am), right next to vets, retired poeple and families.

No one has ever come in for any reason. But because of how professional they are, they ALWAYS give notice, they follow ALL guidelines. Now don't go thinking just cause their nice they all will do this, you have to somewhat get a vibe/feel on your own, but always read your lease... this is a good time to bring up things that have been missing from your apt. and that people coming in without your there is not a good idea. Any professional place should see no problem in ALWAYS giving you notice.

I have lived in all kinds of apartments to the good old $300 lock your doors every night to what I am in now and I will say pay that extra penny for the bigger, more professional apt. people. While that is my #1 advice there are other factors... in an apt. I find it isn't about trying to hide your grow, or try and get through it without anyone bugging you, even though that would be plan A... its about being prepared. The less professional and cheaper apartments ALWAYS and I mean ALWAYS let themselves in...seems like there is no privacy not to mention you've already made the mistake in growing somewhere thats already being watched. But again this could work in a diff. situation, a diff area.

I practice a "fire drill" so you can have all your things wrapped up and tucked away in less than 15 minutes. Yes I actually time myself and yes I practice it, not as much as I used to but I will go through the motions checking things are where they are suppose to be.

Being in an apartment that gives notice, you should have plenty of time to get things wrapped up if need be. If you do it like me, it can all be brought out again like nothing ever happened!

Nice thread.

I was searching craigslist for apartments around the country, and was wondering how often an issue comes up with landlords. A lot of the ads in medical marijuana states always includes, the closet as if they know the possibility of renting to someone who's growing pot in the closet. And some of them have utilities included.

I don't think I am willing to grow in a rented apartment. Too much fear factor, and you know the moment you let down your guard and relax into the new place, something may go wrong. You're going to need a stealthier grow cabinet or closet. A locked cabinet is one thing but a lock on the closet isn't going to fly.

Rented lots are OK. Like in a trailer park. The landlord doesn't get the option of entering the $2500.00 trailer you just bought. I've seen rents for as little as $215.00. More safe than an apartment, but you'll need more than a deposit and 1st and last month's, or find a cheap trailer.

Changes, changes, changes....
