Strawberry Diesel... not a bad idea.

Strawberry Diesel... not a bad idea.

As time marched forward, and my appreciation for strong cannabis genetics grew, I became more focused on which varieties to grow, and which to avoid. Since I had already grown and liked Diesel, and since I had already grown and liked the Strawberry Cough... I was excited about trying Reservoir Seeds' Strawberry Diesel.

As any Diesel fan can see... This hybrid is heavily influenced by the Diesel genetics. Diesel is dominant in about any cross... lucky us! :) But the Strawberry Cough genetics make a good showing as well.

I can get very nice yields from the Sour Diesel clone, and I've gotten very, very good yields from the Strawberry Cough clone... so I was expecting extremely nice yields from a cross of the two, especially when considering seed vigor. I was not disappointed at all. Crossing these two is not a bad idea at all.

And then there was... M39

And then there was... M39

M39, aka Basic 5, aka Skunk #1 x Northern Lights #5... and old school production powerhouse.

M39 entered my life just when I needed it to. We needed to grow more pot... so M39 came to the rescue!

M39 is easy to clone, vegetates quickly, has the perfect stretch, and yields very, very well. The smell is old school sweet, skunky, groovy. Nothing like the Diesels, Chems, etc... Just old school, 1980's dankness.

Those are the good traits... There are a few cons as well... Not the most potent herb, fluffy buds, too many leaves per bud (but not terrible), and people tend to get tired of smoking it after a few batches in a row.

Whatever the score is in the end... I grew it for a couple years, and did quite well with it before ditching it for Chem D. But that's another post. ;)

M39... for your consideration:
It starts off innocently enough...

Then this stuff explodes!!! (50 days)

Sour Bubble

Sour Bubble

My first experience with Sour Bubble was a beautiful couple of buds BOG gave me to sample. The bag reeked of a dank, sour milk sort of scent... but in a good way, of course.

Sour Bubble is sometimes confused as Bubba Kush because they grow very similarly, but after much experience with both strains, I believe Sour Bubble is a unique plant from the Bubba Kush. The Bubba Kush has an astringent, perhaps coffee-like smell... Sour Bubble is kushy, but it has a different taste from Bubba, more of a (aptly named) sour smell.

The buds smoked very nicely and I remember getting high in really mellow way. Super potent, but mellow and relaxing.

Another thing that really stuck out was the amount of resin density... and the density of the buds themselves.

Where FFA came from

Where FFA came from

The FFA clone was selected from this group of MSS x OGKA sisters. (Massachussetts Super Skunk x Abusive's OG Kush)

The MSS is a main ingredient in the Sour Diesel family, and IMO is largely responsible for the unique bud structure of the Sour Diesel family.

FFA was kept for its unique smell, high and visual likeness to the Sour Diesel clone.

These are sisters to the FFA... none of which were kept.

FFA proper

FFA proper

Here's the FFA. :) Free For All... or... Future Farmers of America... either name is good... I wanted to give my favorite high school organization a plug. :)

The first picture is of the original mother FFA, when I decided she was the one to keep. :)

Nice thread brotha! I hardly ever read through an entire thread. Now I am disappointed it ended so fast. Great work.

Also, I am witcha on the flushing. I grow 100% organic indoors and find that my soil is pretty much drained of all nutritional value around day 45. Molasses and EWC tea helps me through the rest of the crop. By the end of bloom, all plants are yellowed and end up very tasty.
