Eradicate Broad Mites 100% Organically

Heat is your best bet if you can do it right. I ran space heaters and fans off 4 lights on in each room for up to 6 hours 2x (2 hours between 115 and 120f) and found that it did nothing for my system. Theres a lot of nooks and crannies in my grow space though.

Gonna be some stank

Spinosad degrades quickly when exposed to light. If you read the bottle, it advises against spraying while pollinators are active.

Heat and heat vapour treatments date back decades. Ensuring complete heating, high RH and well watered plants are key.

Vacuum cleaner technique

Vacuum cleaner technique

Another eco friendly way to get rid of the majority of mites is to use the vacuum cleaner technique.

I know that the vacuum cleaner decimates about 90 - 95% of all the mites. Even if you've got a massive infestation with millions of mites. You have to vacuum each individual internode.
It's preferable to do this during the vegetation stage.
Keep in mind that the vacuum might damage some of the foliage depending on the vacuum strength. The plant should recover from that foliage damage though.

Combine this method with the wipe-underside-of-leaves-with-finger method and you should get a pretty high success rate. Wash hands afterwards.

Then I usually just use some predator insects and they finish off the rest.

Good luck.

since noone has said it yet, i'm going to warn AGAINST using wettable sulfur in rotation with neem oil, don't use them on your plants within 30 days of each other. Neem and sulfur cause BAD reaction and can basically ruin your plants, i believe the term is "phytotocixity".

i've used wettable sulfur against hemp russet mites with very good results, i have alot of faith in essential oils to kill all sorts of bugs, same with PFR and other biological controls.... but DO NOT MIX NEEM WITH SULFUR even on the surface of your leaf from sprayings that were even a few days or a week apart, just not worth the risk in my opinion.
- Wettable sulfur thru an atomizer up to wk 2 of flower. Make sure there are no trichomes. It's cheap and very effective. Wear a respirator, turn off vents, and don't enter the room for 24 hours.
...
- Neem could be used in rotation, but I did not. Coughie (posted below) suggests neem could kill predatory mites too so beware of that if used.
might wana be careful suggesting something you haven't done :tiphat:

other than that, the regime looks solid, tess, thanks for sharing.
i'd add that removal of the worst infected plant, even simply quarantine the worst plant(s) if possible can make a big difference.

Im going to update now thank you

You shouldnt use any oil based pesticide within 2 wks of sulfur, I guess neem oil is an "oil"

personally i've used the BAS essential oil mix and neem together no problem, same with peppermint oils with neem, no problem.... haven't used any sulfur recently, decided to cut it out because of the potential risk... if i ever have BM's or HRM's i'll gladly break it out.

sulfur/garlic oil... stay far far away from any combination with neem oil

Good to know. I did the essential oil at 15ml/g 1 or 2 days after the sulfur with nothing but positive results. Slight spotty burn in 1 spot, probably from not shaking atomizer, but hard to beat the 4wk systemic effects it provides.

What do you guys think, broad mites, russets, something else(fungus), or nothing at all. These pics are all over 100x magnification.

Check out some pics of those type of bug eggs, bms have spikes/spots on the eggs for example which I'm not seeing here, could be trichs, what gives you the impression you have them? Are your plants showing symptoms?

do they (orbs in the top picture) move when you scope them? if lites are on and they are NOT moving at all.... you might not have broads
duno about broads but hemp russet mites move alot when lites are on, all writhing... so gross

Those look like trichomes to me..

Broads are as big as the orbs in the first picture, but at 60x magnification
And they have legs

Had this discussion with a friend not too long ago actually, determined that they must be stalk-less trichomes.

Granted, thats assuming your plant isnt going weird for no apparent reason..

Yes plants are showing symptoms. Nothing moves under the scope, and ti has LED lights on it. After reading other threads, I think high temps and temp swings are causing the problems I'm seeing.

Later tonight when the lights come on I will . You want it so you can see a plnt with the symptoms, without having them?
