Hmm, that's a pity. I'm looking forward to you showing me what combination of settings you sed with the other cam to get such nice shots with good colour rendition without removing the plants from the cab.
Custom White Balance, mainly. I just hold a piece of white paper in there, set the camera to that, and off it goes. Not usually far off with that method. It's never as broad-spectrum as real light, obviously, but as long as it's balanced, it looks reasonable.

Ah, I never used the WB, you can show me how to do that sometime, I've only ever done it on a broadcast video camera.
It's a doddle, and fixes just about all the problems. 'Auto' settings will cope with normal tungsten, but the sodium lights are so narrow-spectrum that you have to reset the camera to that band. It's not perfect, but it's pretty good. Haven't tried it with the halide yet, but I think they have a slightly wider spectrum anyway, so should look more like daylight.
I wish this pic upload thing would get fixed, but if not soon, I might just go out again and take some new ones with this camera - see what the difference is. Apparently also this weekend's possible 'trouble' won't be anywhere near my grow, but I'm still going to go out there to keep an eye on things. I've just about finished building my 'Predator'-style digital camouflage suit...

Well the photo-upload is finally working again, so I can show you what's what - no time for a big description, as the last visit was ten days ago, so this is just to get up-to-date.
First up is a shot of the spot with bracken added - it's instructive to look at the shot from roughly the same spot in March - as can be seen, it's a little more tricky in summer...
Next up - some 'contact sheets' of the best of the bunch - 16 plants out of the 30. No time for labels, as I can't even remember which is which for some of them - but it'll give a general idea of what was going on ten days ago. We've had a lot more rain and sun since then, so it won't be long before I get out again, and this time I have a new camera...

Thanks folks - I'm quite pleased with progress, especially with the panic early on that weed won't grow amongst bracken! It clearly will, though soil amendment is definitely helping. And also it requires constant pulling to keep some sky free for the dope!
I'm going to add more organic granules next time though, as some looked a little light green for me. Overall, it's pretty good progress so far - many are already bigger now than the plants I chopped last autumn...

Wow Elevator Man. Outdoors. I wish I had the balls. Hope you get the rain when you need it, it's been really hot where I am. But they promise some rain on the weather forecast. Like G. P. says, that bracken is a nitrogen hog, but I'm sure you got it sorted. Well I have some good news and some bad news. I went out last night at almost darkness with my friend, which has hilarously stupid, as we ended up covered in cuts and bruises from the brambles and tripping over things...
Anyway - all patch 1 is fine, thriving, and we even pulled a couple out and re-planted them as they were floating on a bed of jelly crystals - I was right about their slow start, and hopefully they should be fixed now.
However - patch 2 has been attacked by rabbits. Why I don't know, as it's only 400m from the other patch, which is untouched. The reason we think they are rabbits, is that every plant has lost the bottom 12-18" of branches and leaves - the dead leaves were around the base of the plants. If they were deer, they would have eaten the lot, but you could plainly see how a rabbit on it's tippy-toes would have just about trimmed what they had.
So out of nine plants, two are completely eaten away (the two Purple Afghans - bastard!), and the other seven have been very badly trimmed - they all have top shoots and vigorous growth, so hopfully they'll still stretch and bud properly. But I think we'll lose a lot of yield here -but why the other patch is so far untouched is a mystery, though nothing happened here last year. Can rabbits be that localised...?
Oh, and the Leb27 was just starting to flower -that's in patch 1, as are most of the 'exotics'...I'm far more concerned about these to be honest, which is why I'm not wailing and screaming. And that wouldn't do much good anyway, so...on with the show.

Incidentally, I have a theory that rabbits love Afghan-derived strains - after yesterday's incident, and my five Deep Chunks being eaten last year (but no others), I've got a feeling that Afghanis are a little too much like lettuce for our floppy-eared f(r)iends...

i lost 10-15 leb's (all girls) from something similar, there were just stalks left in the ground with the leaves cleanly cut off and some were laying on the ground. i had to completely replant that plot :/

PA has a similar smell and taste to DC so could just be the rabbits like that smell.
I went to check on my 5 remaining outdoor plants and they have disappeared completely, they were too big for rabbits, I suspect humans, but I saw not one sign of any humans having been there and they hadn't been ripped out of the ground, found the holes, the stems are gone completely above ground level, friggin wierd. I'm through with guerilla growing, I absolutely busted my arse this year and haven't got even one plant to show for it!

after i lost mine, i made cages, planted them and only visited the other day and they have grown to 5ft. i love it haha
