my nycd smells just like mandarin oranges..the ecsd reminds me of a train/railroad yard when i rub the stem.

I've got the ECSD cut and have not ever noticed a smell from any stem...
She actually doesnt have much of a smell till 4 weeks in flower at the least .

hmmmmmm.....????

I've yet to run into a plant that did not have stems that smelled at least a little. Thousands deep now. It is one of the best initial selections tools when breeding. My SD ibl plants, been through several packs, have very stinky stems especially the ones you want. You might have damage to your sensory smell perception perhaps? I can't imagine ECSD stems not smelling but have not grown it myself anyone else want to chime in on this?

Curious if this is true.

Hey 40

Yano I got a laugh outta the sensory damage remark..
hell I've been doing tile work and breathing in enough mortar and dust from travertine, slate, granite etc for so long I thought ya may be onto something ..

But honestly I can smell fine..and yes I tend to select by smell as well when breeding as just another trait that will almost always tend to indicate worthiness,,,you know that dank greasy sticky residue and smell left on your fingers from a superb male or female ?

I have a few old ak47 gals from Simon going currently that are phenos from whatever indica afghani pheno he used in that F1
that are real stinkers in this respect ,,,TY Joey Weed where ever you are .

I've made a Femmed F1 with the ecsd pollen crossed to the Chem D cut a few years ago that have shown some real stinkers in veg...but the Chem D is most likely the culprit there.

Yep my ecsd gals truly are void of that trait when rubbed from the stems in veg.....True story
she's an absolute stinker in flower and the quality isn't even in question...

all my best

Thank you for info I find this very informative and I meant no offense by my remark was just being inquisitive as this has sparked my curiosity so had to ask. And yea Chem D can really stink in some crosses sd x cd and cd x ogk is some rank stuff.

I've never tried the real deal ecsd but I was gifted 2x Shrom x ECSD fems seeds - Should I give em a pop? It sounds dang tasty

I made those beans ....

I'd say go ahead
There is variation in that F1 as you may expect

ECSD is a multihybrid as is shrom so with that said
there are phenos in there that grow crazy with vigor
but there have also been numerous reports of hermies.

The colombian in shrom is what seemed to donate
the taste she is known for , lemony cleaner and it has
carried over overwhelmingly in this cross...

Here is a Big ass bush of Shrom x Ecsd in hydro ...
clones very easy and bushes out naturally with no topping.

Hope you enjoy them...

Tacoma can tell the ecsd by rubbing the stems and another guy I know is the same.I can't smell what they do, its all green to me.We're all a bit different.I wish I could tell because I mixed up some moms but luckily I had a tray of 20 cuts taken from the big old mom before I chucked her.:)

Ya know guys, for me sometimes it goes sometimes it comes. When I need to take notes, I do it after I water them and I take a warm shower. For some reason Ive noticed the warm shower helps me smell better.

Smells very similar to my keeper Chem 4 cross cut on the stem rub, but with out the sweet floral aspect. The Chem4 cross has that lemon pledge cleaner during the growth that matures into stinky b/o, skunky smell (but with a strong sweet floral background when done just right) and taste like a wonderful, yet to be identified, floral citrus fruit and a touch of a earth all the way to the back, that sticks to the palate. The sours, instead of a sweet floral background, have a stonger stinky skunky background but If the sours taste similar but with a more happy sativa kick to the high i'll be real happy.

I just poped my rez sd about a moth ago after reading your thread, although I had it in the fridge so damn long. Thats the first time Ive ever had so many males, popped and planted with the moon, kept moist and everything. I guess the good luck had to run out some time. Ive got two phenos at around day 15 and I am absolutly loving the vigor. Its on par with ssh. Only thing different is i had to tie the all the bud shoots to the main stem. Lots of growth at the bud sights early on that lets you know she is gonna be a major yielder. Gonna snip off those tarp like, bigger than life fans at around 25. Cant wait to choke on a few bones.

Stinky or not stinky...?

Stinky or not stinky...?

ECSD, and its hybrids, has to be some of the most stinky weed on the planet. Maybe not so much so while its in veg. All the different pheno's I've ever had/seen, when stems were rubbed, gave off that distinct sour/fuel like smell.

I've found that the smell doesn't get overpowering until the last few weeks of flowering, when they start to get seriously plump and swollen. This effect seems to itensify right before you chop them down. Being a near perfect blend of Chemdawg and sour d, my 4SD absolutely fucking stinks the during the last week of bud. Highly toxic chemy/fuely terpene's on steroids, handle with care. I've had to wear a painters mask(with carbon filters) numerous time's when trimmimg 4SD. The fumes are too much for me, and can make me start to wheeze if I dont take precautions.

I've seen a cutting of ECSD that was more powerful smell wise. It was so dank, it went thru cinder block walls, overpowered carbon filter's, and once harvested, was difficult to transport anywhere because its smell would go right through two or three plastic bag's. Only glass jar's would semi-contain the smell.

Centennial Seed Co's "21" x ECSD

Centennial Seed Co's "21" x ECSD

I had 3 phenos of ECSD. It was extremely kushy growth wise and produces small, round buds of pure gasoline. So fuel oriented that it was on the gross side of gasoline. I wanted a bigger yielder so after running it a few times I decided to toss it but not before crossing that extra fuel scent to the 21.

Ive yet to get the ECSD cut Ide like to find but this Sweetn'Sour BB sure brings out alot of that fuel note the momma had. The momma ECSD was the stinkiest girl Ive ever smelled to date in my garden.
Heres a pic of the Sn'SBB. You can sure see the ECSD in her.
TIP:
I find that the best time to smell the ladies is at lights on. Thats when they reek the most. If you have a green filtered flashlight then you can go into your room 2 hours before lights on. Thats the exact BEST time to smell the girls or the males even if youre looking for a good one to breed with. Thats when they smell the most. 2-3 hours before sunup. If you dont have a green light then as soon as the lamps come on.
