wish folks would get it right.

Very nice looking oil , but it is not hash . wish folks would get it right.

To make hash you use NO solvents, hash is made by siffting or by bubble bags or ice water. But its not made by using iso or bho .Oil is but not hash .
It's actually whatever anybody wants to call it.

And based on your definition, you cant call bubble "hash" or water hash "hash" either as it uses a solvent: water, a universal solvent.

H20, i.e. universal solvent: A substance that has the ability to dissolve both bases and acids.

Good Lord... I just whipped some of this stuff up tonight, and it's like kryptonite, y'know, if I was like Superman...

First of all, I've used this method many times and have always been impressed with the results. Even the third and fourth washes were plenty potent for cooking.
However, this was always with dry bud/shake. I'm about to harvest several plants, and was wondering if it is necessary to dry the trim beforehand. I mean, I could see how the high levels of chlorophyll in fresh material could affect the taste... but since it is the Quick Wash Iso treatment, and the time in contact is brief, perhaps it doesn't matter?
Any input would be stellar.

It is sticky because it's pretty pure, though some guys add dry sift/kief and make jelly hash. it's a less pure end result IMHO though.

I'm gonna try it with denatured alcohol, if you get the pure stuff from home depot there are no solvents left, the good and bad stuff all evaporate around the same temperature anyway. I don't know if it's cheaper yet though...

That stuff is like Cryptonite man, so strong, I still have some left. What I can't stand is the stickyness, I can't handle it out the freezer, that's what I like about BHO. I imagine the ISO is maybe healthier? Does anyone make edibles with ISO? Alot of fullmelt bubble and BHO is very pure too, and they can be super sticky or semihard and manageable, depending on how they were made, cured, purged etc..It sure seems safer than BHO tho..How you been man? Is it storming like crazy up there? Down here it's a T-storm week with Tornado warnings!!

I read somewhere on here from a member that the process using ISO is polymerization I believe and to complete the process it should be hard in the end and break apart like rock candy. If your finding that its too sticky then cook it longer. Watch it and move it around to one pile moving it back and forth not letting it get too hot but at the same time letting it cook out the ISO. I made the mistake of not cooking it all the way and it was very sticky and too bendable. Cooked it a little bit longer on the pyrex pie plate and I got it to the rock hard form after it cooled. You dont want to get it rock hard on the plate, just to the thickness of some heated up 1/2-3/4 melt hash. Then remove from the heat source and scrape together and form as it cools.

yup youve got it, mine always comes out hard and somewhat maliable after a minute of holding it. then again the longer you wash I think the harder it is to get rock hard? from my experiences at least.

I watched the alcohol evaporate and even after it was gone, the tar bubbled a little bit, for maybe 20-30 seconds. When the bubbling stopped I pulled it from the heat and scraped it up when the plate had cooled enough to touch. And it's like a slightly tacky rock candy. So much so that when my buddy dropped a piece on the floor, it shattered. Which made for nice little portions to smoke, and then that was the end of that.

If you don't want to dry the product before making then freeze it for a few hours to ensure the trics will snap off easy in the process. As you stated when the material is not dried there is a lot of chlorophyll and good give a little harsher taste.

I made a batch using fresh buds and trim as it did taste a little harsher then the batch using dry material. To be honest it wasn't a huge difference in taste, but hey if you got an extra days to dry the stuff then do so.

Very nice!!

Very nice!!

Thank you MM, this was a very helpful thread. Superb end product, I enjoy the taste much better than BHO. Not a great yeilder but still very nice smoke. I will post some pics later this evening.
