E-Cigarettes: A How-To With Canna

Glycerin is a sugar alcohol and doesn't go bad, though it will absorb water if left uncapped. I've had some glycerin tinctures that are still potent over four years old, that I keep in the refrigerator in dark bottles.

Thanks Gray Wolf. The reason i wondered is because i blended my tincture in the blender before i drained it through cheesecloth... It turned from black to honey white... Over the last few days, a white "cream" has risen to the top and the bottom 95% is light - dark brown... You think there is any rish with this creamy top? Thanks again.:dance013:

I've never blended my glycerin mixture before, so I'm not sure what you got. It sounds like an emulsion, but without seeing it, it is a guess. It might also just be air bubbles beaten into the glycerin.

I would decant the creamy top and set it aside to see what it is.

If it is a water emulsion, it could affect the life of the cannabis oil

Gray Wolf, I will take a pic later and post it, luckily it was just glycerine and hash. I probably wont blend again in the future unless I use PG. Im gonna scrape the stuff off the top and try it out in a cartridge. Ill let you know how it turns out.

Thanks BKS for starting this thread and sticking with it. Medicating with these ecigs is great. This summer we were all around the pool bar at the beach vaping with impunity on my tinc. Anywhere I go I can vape. I have no fear of being caught. I love it. The effects are a bit subtler than doing bong hits for sure, but i like that aspect as well. Nice slow easy glidepath to where I want to be, as opposed to the sledgehammer of smoking. I can vape pretty much all night here and there and be functional and active. What I have done with my tinc is I cut the glycerin with between 10 and 15% of 151 alcohol like many eliquids already do. It causes the liquid to flow and be a bit easier to use. The alcohol I use is also loaded so I am increasing the potency. The alcohol is made from leaves and close trim and popcorn, soaked and aged like green dragon, and the glycerin is straight decarbed buds. I also make qwiso to add to the mix. I have a gallon of tinc ageing right now. Anyone out there still still sucking on cigs needs to dump them and get on the ecig train. The flavors are really good and you can regulate the nic levels and wean yourself off of nic gradually if you want. Your shit doesn't stink and the public can't shame you. And vaping cannabis in public is just stupid fun.

This thread could be cut down to about 3 pages of useful info. All of you high-post high-tolerance users look like immature jack-offs.
Including the well intentioned well thought out responses.

Really all of you(yes i'll include myself) would benefit from taking a few weeks or months off to let your receptor sites come up for some 02. Then who's bubble, or tinc that is the strongest is moot.

Seriously guys and gals, take a few weeks off. Respect the THC and it will serve you much more efficiently!
... this 8th grade bickering only shows the non smoking public, like the gov't entities that are watching, that YOU ALL are brain damaged fools, and THC should indeed remain an illegal dangerous substance.
just my not so humble 2 cents.

I have a question for you folks. Anyone have any experience with the omicron or the new model, the persei?

I think I used one with this chick that worked at a dispensary, but I was pretty drunk at the time (3am, at a wedding). It was the best tasting e-cig that I had toked on for concentrates by far. Thing was huge, too, more like an E-Spliff!

They say you can vape primary extracts (as in not acetate, just first wash bho), without any additional constituents.

I am quite versed in the realm of extraction, but e-cigs are not something I have really explored or researched. A way to vape my own pure oils on the go without turning them to acetate would be something I would love to do.

Until then, it's capsules and tincture on the road and Ti at home and when circumstance allows.

i am visiting the bay and am buying a bunch of pre filled omicron cartidges and will be using them with the atmosRX ecig, which i will be ordering on the interet in a day or two

i found pre filled romulan hash oil cartriges for 40 bucks in vallejo and in sf sparc hash prefilled omicron with c02 for 70 but i think im just gonne get maybe 4 or 5 romulan ones lol

wowww, what a long drawn out discussion!
great posts by grey wolf on acetate, and i applaud badkitty for starting the thread and providing all the details and incite about glycerin tinctures and thier use with ecigs. Ive got a V2 on its way and look forward to making an attempt at getting a tincture loaded into a cartridge. With that said, the V2 is to help me quit smoking cigarettes, if i can also load some wonderful cannabinoids into my V2 its just a bonus! I think a lot of people in this thread missed the fact that an e-cigs purpose is to help people quit smoking, not to inhale cannabinoids and medicate, but if it can do both, more power to you! Many companies, as people have already mentioned, sell handheld vapes that are made specifically for MMJ grade oils and tinctures, an e-cig is made for nicotine, but can still be used with the proper knowledge and ingenuity.

Bugler, commons sense and a dose of reality, cooley pooling my thoughts as I read.

Also switched from analogs to an eGo 510 Passthrough after my lung surgery, very successfully I might add. I was a skeptic proven wrong.

That said, we've been working in our compassion club with Risk Simpson oil with great success, and have been testing methods of doubling our use of our PVs. While we can "drip" or pack a rice grain size dose on the 306 (?) atomizers, it burn them out too quickly. But it does work as well as taking it orally on the roof of the mouth, and better than capsulisation. Thinning the RSO is the wall we're up against.

The problem with the OP's system is the production timeline, we're limited on quantity per patient and have monthly patient needs to supply.

Keeping an open mind, I for one would like to see where this direction is leading those of us on this particular journey.

Sure ripping a bong or bowl of hash was nice when we could do it, but what about those of us that no longer have that luxury. Time is not on our side.

Please everyone, let's not digress to the ICmag of trolling and flaming disasters that we've survived, we're more mature than that I'd like to think. Let's air it out like adults and see where it leads...on to reading, dam this thread is almost as long as mine without the bud porn. LOL

Hey BadKitty (and all others) Just want to say that the way i tryied making E.juice (earlyer in this tread) takes a looooong time but ... IT WORKS JUST FINE every month i put the e-juice-jar in the chocolate melter with water and warms it up for 10-15 min, then i shake every day for at least one year .... yaaaa you read right ONE YEAR :/
every 1/2 year i make some new so i have enoff in storrage for the future :D and one special jar that have been there for nearly 2 years now :D looking forward to testing that

It works bedst iff you are a little high first and then smoke on the E-cig to keep beeing wasted and i must say it works :D it wil NEVER replace my RooR bong ... BUT is a exelent supplement when i are places a can´t smoke a joint ... busses, trains even airplanes :D AND in the classroom at school *LOOOOL*

the first E-cig (earlyer in this thread) was to small and I did not get enoff smoke to feel enything. BUT i just got a JANTY Ego Jets and it ROOOOOOKS baby :D ALOT off smoke and a buzz after just 3-4 hits

:thank you:
You "learn to read, 'homeboy'"... if you're going to go around neg-repping people because they grow better herb, or make better edibles or tincture, then you're a very sorry case *shakes head* Who neg reps over a disagreement like this, anyway?

Hash tincture and herb tincture are two very different things, you obviously don't understand that. With herb, you're getting a lot more plant waxes and chlorophyll which takes up holding space in your glycerin, meaning a less efficient hit. So you use it in a table top vape. The fog machine was for fun, spoiled sports need not apply.
So I'm sorry if you couldn't comprehend 5 minutes worth of my typing, if I need to edit some information later on that I didn't get across clearly enough for certain people who have a difficult time understanding things, I will. But I assumed I already made it simple enough.

I haven't even shared any of the tincture recipes yet themselves and you're already judging the effectiveness. That's a bit premature.

And you said yours tasted horrible so you absolutely 100% did something wrong, because mine, like any decent tincture (never said I'm the only one who can make it, so grow up fellow), tastes smooth and creamy after a few months processing with zero additional flavor added. And glycerin can hold and liquefy a lot more glandular material than you think, so if yours didn't set up properly, again.. something went wrong.

So don't go around neg rep-ing and whining at people, just because they succeeded where you failed. That doesn't look very 'cool' in anyone's books. Just try again, and eventually you'll get it. Practice makes perfect ;)

Ok so i wanna try this...
I have about 1oz of really nice sticky black hash made from isopropyl.
I have a good new school ecig (glass chamber type you dont need to drip into, just fill it up and theres a day plus of juice in there) my friend who uses the same model for nicotine changes the atomiser once a week for best effect, so i dont mind burning one or two for experiment sake if needs be, they only cost a buck to replace...
I am about to make an attempt to create the tincture using vg, but just a couple things im not clear on... Hopefully we can continue the positive aspects of this thread with fine tuning aspects of vgho tincture :)

Before i even start on making the tinc i guess i should first get the main ingredient to be as good as it can possibly be. The iso hash was made quite recently. Would it be benificial for the end result to allow for some sort of setting process to cure the hash first or could it be used 'straight off the bat'?

so i put vg and hash into a jar, seal jar lid and emerse in water inside my croc pot on LOW for 12 hrs. Is this as technical as this bit gets? Is there any temp i shouldnt exceed or specific temps to stay inbetween (i have one of those culinary thermometer things) or doesnt it matter as its sealed in the jar in the water? I guess if the water starts to boil that would mean its too hot??

MOST IMPORTANTLY, How much vg to hash ratio for maximum potency that will be utilisable in the ecig bearing in mind that i will be needing to mix in dist water and everclear to the tincture to get the right consistency? I want to make it as strong as posible :)

I understand to mix 4ml dist water plus couple drops everclear per 10ml to the finished vg tinc. Shake every day for 2 weeks and then let cure. Will it be fine to do this in bulk as opposed to individual little containers as i do not plan to make up different flaves?

for curing, i guess put it in a dark place but what sort of temperature environment is best? And i guess still shake it every now and then ??

...i suppose i would occasionally pippette a bit out into a 10ml dropper as required and hopefully see increase in potency over time...

I also understand from this thread that at some point in time i would refrigerate the tincture for preservation. After how many months would it be advisable to do so? Fridge or freezer?

Answers to the above questions and any other advice would be HIGHLY appreciated!

Thanks BadKittySmiles! I am now on my first week of quitting and it feels like hell. I stare at a stick for hours just thinking about how good it could have been to puff it but I am determined to stop. Luckily, one of my friends hooked me up with an e-cig called Hydro Cigs. It has helped a lot.

You asked for it, and you’re getting it.. a how-to, for using Canna Tincture, with Electronic-Cigarette Personal Vaporizers... and, a Fog Machine.

Feel free to ignore the single outspoken nay-sayer or two on page 2. Turns out, they were
complaining about how a completely different, failed tincture using alcohol alone, didn't
work for them. Apparently it tasted bad as well.. very unfortunate.

It takes practice, if your opinion of yourself is too high to keep trying, because you "have to get things
right the first time, or 'it's not possible'", then this recipe (the whole hobby, really) isn't for you. Practice
makes perfect, I wasn't impressed my first few tries either, but I didn't let my product go to waste :)

I guarantee if you follow a decent -glycerin- tincture recipe, and they are all over the net but I will
share mine soon, this will do wonders for you via a table top or personal vape.

I'm new to the boards at icmag, but not to the hobby; I've been moderating canna forums,
growing, and processing canna around the world, for many years. I've grown on two continents
in three countries in over a dozen locations of my own, and have participated and contributed
to several co-op warehouses, kitchens and labs in other places around the globe. This is a
tutorial I wrote up yesterday for another forum, I figured it would make a good first post here.

Whether you’re trying to get healthy and avoid the nasty contents of the ashtray above,
whether you're supplementing your smoking supplies, or you’re just looking for something
a little different to break up the monotony of your smoking regime...

These little babies, are the way to go.

Using a bud tincture for some of the work we're doing here, but I would really recommend
a hash tincture for e-cigs, as it's generally much, much more concentrated and contains fewer
plant waxes and chlorophyll.

It’s basically very simple, just so long as you follow a good tincture recipe… be on the look
out, I’m posting mine shortly. If done right, 3 - 5ml tincture taken sublingually (under the
tongue) will knock your socks off, but when vaped via an electronic cigarette, I find it
takes only about half that to get me where I need to be.

An electronic cigarette is made up of several pieces. I’m using a 3 piece 510 model, some
of the older models had more pieces, some of the newer ones have less.

Your basic components are: your cartridge, your atomizer, and your battery.

- The cartridge, is where you insert your tincture drop by drop. One end attaches to the
atomizer, the other end goes to your lips.

View Image

- The atomizer, is the heated element that turns your liquid hash tincture, into vapor.

View Image

- The battery is the longer portion of the electronic cigarette, some are manual as seen
here, some are automatic. The difference between the two being, whether or not you need
a button to begin ignition (manual), or simply the ‘draw’ of your breath (automatic). I
prefer manual, as the autos are still a bit finicky.. they can go off in your pocket from
noise, and from wind.

View Image

Some newer models now contain ‘cartomizers’, or, carts that you use for your liquid and
the atomizer, all in one piece. These form the 2-piece models. I have nothing against
them, I just prefer the three piece at the moment.

What we’re using today, is a simple, no-name 510 model. It’s a great starter piece, but
I’d recommend that you upgrade to the thicker eGo, which is still very handy and portable,
for the battery life. Or even better for home or even vehicle use, one of the various
electric cigars, which are larger and less convenient, but generally have even greater vapor
production, as they are the e-cig equivalent to the analog cigar.

There are several companies available, they’re all basically the same, however there are
fakes and knock-offs being sold within the US, and world-wide. Nearly all e-cig
components are made in China, so don’t go thinking you need to avoid their parts,
because it can’t be helped. They make the best e-cigs and the worst. It’s certain local
vendors, that you need to be careful of. They come and go, so it’s best to check with the
manufacturer to be sure who you’re buying from.

My suggestion would be to find a reputable brand (Joye/Riva etc), and use one of their
licensed vendors. Buying from an unlicensed vendor can get you cheap e-cigs, and some
of them may certainly be healthy and functional, but there are many that look almost
exactly like the legitimate copies, made with inferior (dangerous) metals and components
which can burn and emit smoke, rather than producing vapor exclusively from your chosen
liquid.

- To apply liquid you’ll want to take either a new cartridge, or clean out an old one as I’ve
done here.

View Image

- Using tweezers, you can easily remove the core material to clean. The first few times I
just press it between some paper towel, later on when it’s messier I run it under hot tap
water, and finally, you can also give it a quick Iso wash followed by a hot water rinse (this
is also recommended when switching flavors, otherwise you’ll have a blend between the
last flavor and the new flavor).

- Boston Cream is the flavor we’re sampling for the tutorial.. it’s my own blend (more on
flavor blends will follow). It has hints of mocha/cocoa, none of that cheap chocolate taste,
and a more dominant, rich creamy vanilla taste and almost-caramel flavor notes.

View Image

- You can use a syringe, or a pipette like I’m using to get it all in there as neat and tidy
as possible, or when you’re on the go a simple spray bottle will do the trick.. I press the
nozzle of my spray bottles directly to the end of the cart (and I only very rarely make a
mess doing it that way, lol). A pipette is what we’re using here. You can get hundreds of
them for a few dollars at various online shops, so I usually toss them out after each use
to avoid flavor cross-contamination.

- Using your pipette or syringe, you’ll want to sip up a few ml of your modified ‘e-liquid’
tincture (keep reading for the correct dilutions).

View Image

- Depending on your cart, it will take between 12 and 20 drops to fill. A fresh, blank cart
on its first filling will take a while, as you need to ‘prime’ the core with some liquid before
it absorbs more quickly. Subsequent fillings will go quicker.

View Image

- You’ll know when you’re done filling it when your cartridge begins to pool, or have
standing liquid in the top, settling above the core material. A drop on the inner 'bridge' of
the atomizer itself (below, on the right), will help to get it going.

View Image

- Once you’ve put the two pieces together, cartridge to atomizer, you’ll want to give it a
few moments to wick the liquid further into the atomizer. This prevents dry burning, which
can drastically shorten the life of your atomizer... it tastes pretty foul as well.

View Image

- - While we wait... Flooding is something you’ll learn to live with, when it comes to
cheaper 510’s. With a 510 I find it’s either a tedious process, or I’m flooding a bit, and I’d
rather flood and wipe (or lick! Remember, ours is edible) the fluid away. Meaning, in my
opinion you’re better off using a bit too much tincture, than too little.

This is another reason I recommend the eGo model, also called the Tornado by one
brand. That model has a cover, that slips over the atomizer, and the atomizer collects the
pooling liquid along a ridge on its side. Much cleaner for the finger tips, and it’s safer for
your battery as well. - -

- Then, you simply twist the cart/atomizer onto your battery, and away you go! They
recommend never to depress the button longer than 5 seconds, but if you don’t have a
knock-off and your atomizers is nice and wet, I go for a good 8-10 seconds.

View Image

E-cigs seem to be finicky, as far as 'lasting' or duration of life goes. Most people claim the
parts are only good for about a month or so. But with the proper care and cleaning, they
can last up to 6 months or a year, minus the carts and cores of course.

You can replace the core material with the real stuff for pennies though, and if you have
some expired tea laying around you can even use –some- types of teabag material, and
eventually when the plastic cart itself wears down they’re only a few dollars for 5 of them,
and they’ll refill and last for ages.
