Dry Ice or Water?

HAD A THOUGHT . . .

has anyone ever made ice water hash and then use the same trim from the wet process to do a dry ice hash run. seems like it would make sense to do and you still wouldn't need too many supplies.

was watching some ice water hash vids on youtube and became inspired
 
Would it be possible to "clean" the dry-ice kief using the gravity/gumby method?

The dry-ice kief I made last year had a lot of impurities like stalks in it. Wouldn't they float on the surface while the trichome-heads sank to the bottom?
Or is it almost impossible to get the kief wet enough to separate the components?

I've a feeling in the next few yrs we'll see yet more improvements with extracts . . . but someone needs to be willing to sacrifice some weed for research, lol! you know, if things go wrong . . .

personally, I'm waiting my new bag set . . . sent by freakin Pony Express! jeez . . .

I posted there 3 days ago and it was deleted, your method is truly lacking and yield pathetic.

I like that you want to help people achieve full melt, but I dont like that you lack the ability.

All your pics are of the same product, also never a melt shot.

Smoke some of your just heads and get more then 2 melt pics lawl never gonna heppen

Here's a thread where I further refined the dry-ice I posted before into absolute amber. Then I used the amber to make a tincture from 190 proof moonshine, then used that as a sub-lingual spray or a cooking thc delivery method. The winterization step was able to remove all of the waxy capitate stalks that MrWizard is so crazy over.

DSW very informative thread about the dry sifting . . . but basically I'm lazy . . . after 5 mo of growing, watering, fighting bugs, prying eyes, then trimming, curing 7 everything else i prolly go with the simple thang first off . . .

besides, I need a starting point . . . yup! and then at least I'll know some of the taste/smoke differences . .. I haven't smoked any black Af. hash for 40 yrs lol

If you are saying you see little difference between bubble hash and dry ice hash, maybe try a shorter agitation time with your water hash, dont go over a 10 min wash, quality will be increased greatly.

You can do a second wash after for a longer period of time if you are worried about left overs.

The biggest keys to the fullmelt door are temperature, wash time and starting material. GL

Run it for 3 or 4 minutes by hand and yank 'em.

Do it again on the 2nd run for 10mins.

You can extract resin from leaf by touching it gently, you certainly do not need 10 minutes when entire bags of ice are involved.

Wassamatta U zachrockbadenof! sry, just had to throw out there . . . waiting . . . on bags . . . also got my dry sift screens picked out, thanks for the link, DSWizard . . . We are going to get to the bottom, or Top (depending on high) of this thang soon . . .

1st to go into the bag will be some Iranian Auto Flower . . . the sift from this stuff should good, then move on to headband? or white widow . . . .IF those bags ever show up . . . otherwise it's the screens!

as stated , I;ve tried bags and dry ice, and not crazy about either...

40+ yrs ago got high on black hash... it was black... and it was kick-ass... and have never seen anything approaching that quality since... pity...

But... if todays weed is stronger, and we are using better shit going in, then the shit coming out should be better... and imho it's not...

lol you heard it here folks, 10 minute washes are not ideal in any situation and if you do 10 minutes or longer you clearly are doing it wrong

(Sarcasm off, there are environments where 10 minute washes are PERFECT sorry you don't believe so, please quit misinforming people, thanks) :thank you:

40 years ago a lot of the hash had a dose of opium in it.

I am a young guy so I only know what people have shared from back in the day, from what I hear any real "thai stick" had opium mixed with it, sounds interesting.

I have also heard that back then it was much more common to come across laced imported hash, sounds like a crazy time to be a hash smoker

When I first started making bubble hash, I think I used to whip the bud with my electric egg beater for 20 - 30 minutes. I thought it was pretty good hash but hard to bind.

Now, I whip for 3 minutes, remove the majority of hash from the first filter bag and then whip again for 10 minutes. then remove the hash from both of the 2 filter bags. Both grades of hash self bond now and I just redry the bud and do a 20 second qwiso extraction. For me this work great, but I only do small batches.

For some reason, my favorite hash is made from fresh trim, I just do 10 minute whip and discard the trim (no secondary extraction). The hash tends to be waxyer but has a fresher taste.

I've never done dry ice extration, can I do it in my 3 bag bubble hash kit?

I use my bubble bags for dry ice extraction, just put the dry ice in a 5 gallon bucket with your trim, then pull the bubble bag over the top of the bucket. Turn it upside down and shake for a minute. Separate, then shake for another 2 or 3 minutes for lower grade.

Wonder what such extreme cold does to the life of the bags. Seems like it would dry the fibres out to the eventual point of brittleness. Peace GS

ps. makes me wonder how many folks have damaged their bags in this manner, then lied to be waranteed

It's not the best for them, but I wasn't using them anyway. They look to have frayed a bit, but no holes a few dozen batches later. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Here's some pics of a 20+ minute whip. I think it was from 2 ozs of Hawaiian Snow bud. You can see the impurities in it. That being said, it was very tasty indeed..........
