I use convoluted pots that go in and out around the side of the container and I put my stakes in that. I always have a dozen steaks in my plants just before they put in the flower. I’ve never seen your thread drippy Sally and I’m quite impressed with your skills. And here all this time I thought you were just another pretty face…bwahahaha
Oye Mr. @Boo thank you for your compliment! I try to let my growing skills build my street cred rather than my sexy ass and pretty face. It's better to be known for dank than skank. I tend to lay low about growing on the other threads, especially because so many of you are somewhat intimidating with your growing skills. I'm glad you like my setup. I will probably look into those convoluted pots also.

We went diving "The Corridor" off Singer Island. Six wrecks in ripping current at 85'-90' deep. We are fucking around on the deck of this wreck taking pictures and in the background there is this girl just standing there like she is waiting on a bus. This is one of my favorite dives and this picture always brings a smile to my face.

Thanks SD...for one reason or another I didn't get the plants staked early now I'm 4+ weeks into bloom. I will have to give this some thought. I sometimes forget how fast time goes by. Plants got off to a slow start because of a change in soil, I wouldn't want to do anything now to disrupt the momentum. Maybe I can devise away without staking. My tent is small 3'x3', perhaps I could tie some 4"x4" plastic trellis to the frame of the tent and lower it into the flowers.

Like turning 76 this year...first your young, middle aged and then your old.

Any particular reason why your changing your growing medium?
76 seems like old but not real old. I hope you are well brother and have many good years left in you.

I didn't dive the corridor but did an immense amount of diving in and off the keys...we were diving off a trawler(bale boat) when one of my buddies challenges us to hit 250'...went down to eerie green and tan bottom and let the bubbles show us just how fast we should return...bragging rights and no brains involved...

The Keys have some insane diving. My favorite dives are the USS Duane and the USS Spiegel Grove which are both around 130-135'. We meet at the propeller for photos and then usually wander off over the sand to check out the circling sharks. But you my friend......going to 250' without a plan or training sounds absolutely frightening to me. I have over 1500 recorded dives and I have a ton of training. I have done 250' and 300' in the Middle Grounds to get some bis ass black grouper. We only have about 3-4 minutes of bottom time and have to be able to find the big fat mack daddy of the reef. At the middle grounds the sharks show up pretty quick and will take your carbos from you if you are not careful. I've had to hide for a few minutes to wait out some bull sharks and ended up shooting a few hogfish snapper.

we dove deep one time and never again...I was certified to dive deep after an additional course for deep dives...we touched the bottom and came right back up staying way below the bubbles...when you dove the middle grounds you had bottom time...we were smart enough to know we had to return directly...I dove the coral reefs when the were colorful...now they are dark and not happy...

There isn't any real reason I want to switch. I may not even do it. I like coco. It has served me well and let me pump my plants up without fear of drowning them. My friend went back to Serbia for a few months and left me a couple 1000W lights, a bunch of organic nutrients and additives, 100lbs of Promix HP, bags of loam, and bags of worm castings. He didn't want to pay to put it in storage so he dropped it off at my place and said to keep it. I ran a couple of plants in the soil side by side some coco and found it to impact the plants differently. My hunch is that coco is superior but I want to really try it. I have been growing in coco for a very long time and really like the ease of it and the amount of control you have on nutrients and water. The more I think about it the more I think I may keep using coco and add the organic soil into the rotation a few plants at a time. Coco grows layers of trichomes and I don't recall if organic soil is comparable in that regard. It should be but we will see.
you have some very generous friends :p
And should I ever try my hand at coco again I now know who to ask for advice ;)

good luck with your freebie organics and the other stuff -it´s in good hands (y)

Order a pack of plant yo-yo's, they're cheap. Then you put them at the ceiling, and run the little hook down to the branch you want to hold up. They're like spring loaded yo-yo's, and you can lock them so they don't strain the branch.

But I've staked plants at that stage. If you're in five gallon or larger, and sharpen the tips, start at the outer edge at the top, and slightly angle them toward the center... usually if you go real slow, it works out okay. I sort of twist them back and forth as I push, very slowly. I put one hand at the soil surface, and the other maybe a foot above that. Then you have good control. If you get resistance, stop and try another spot. You will tear some roots no matter what, but as long as they aren't big main branches, it hasn't affected mine too much in the past. If they're clones, there's no tap root, but all seed plants have them. But like Sally said, hit a big root branch, and it's gonna slow them down and cost some yield.

I think you should run a few as a good test comparison, for a couple of cycles. For me, a good, very well aerated soil with about 20% coco by volume is the tits. I've run straight coco as well, but I get much better flavor and nose with a well made soil mix. I do a custom blend, it's a pain, but right up your alley I think. You're anal as shit too, I think you would dig it.

I'm really struggling with some things and am not finding any reprieve. For some reason I am not happy at home and am not happy with the few people that are left in my life. Keeping the relationships healthy is taking way too much work for me and my efforts often don't help as intended. Not sure what I want out of everything at this point in my life. I'm not trying to make a plan, figure things out, build a career. I am way past that and am in the middle of exercising my plans and fine tuning the various endeavors I am involved in. I'm just not fucking happy anymore and can't shake this horrible feeling that plagues me.

At 75 I've had times of change, some good some not. For me, sometimes the transition is the most difficult time.
You seem motivated, ambitious, organized and willing to take a chance. I trust you will work your way through these troublesome times, you have some good attributes.

hang in there, you´ll find a way out of this again. How about going a trip, or meeting new people:)
But in the meantime you´re invited to share some comfort food I made with me :yummy:
It´s my version of apple pancake , still warm ;)
