My respects Doc. I just read the whole thread (as part of my education - Dr Bud vol 2)
I wanted to thank you for opening my eyes to some things which I will try to use in my setup. I would caution you to secure some of those cables inside the box, and to cover any exposed splices. My regards to Mrs Doc as well.

cheers

yo doc long time lurker but finally getting my own pad to do some dirty work. i'll be 215 compliant and pretty much have enough patients for as many babes as i want. with a 1000w hps what would be the most optimal grow. i read in one of your threads about 144 rockwool cubes but i couldn't find that post could you maybe give me the rundown on that. would perpetual or just one massive harvest be best? co2? organic? thx in advance dog

I have read up to page 38. The only thing I can say is you can double up your power by using simple screw in "Y"'s for more bulbs. I did this yesterday by converting a $9.99 triple lighting fixture from Lowe's and added 3 "Y"'s for 6 23W bulbs in a 24" x 24" x 11.5" cab already painted white from Wal-Mart for $29. It's blinding. I'm growing Autoflowering MasterLow in it. Germ baby, germ!

I've got a question about the nutes. The dr has told us he uses FE shults and superthrive. 1 tbs for FE and 4 drops for superthrive per gallon seems good to me, but 4 droppers of shults per gallon seems like a bit much. I counted 16 drops in one dropper, which makes 64 drops per gallon total. Would that be the correct amount of drops of shults for his solution? or am i just squeezing to many drops from the dropper

Hey Doc Great grow Much respect to you on your skills I've read this thread several times and keep coming back to it! I got a couple question if you don't mind sparing a few minutes-

1.I know you use the SOG Method here have you ever tried doing a SCROG in a small space like this? If so what were your results I'm interested in trying to do a SCROG with your method I'm pretty sure it will fail but I'd like to experiment

Yur not seein things...its a Tomato
I winter over my Tomatos....then take cuts in the spring
It lets me get a early start.
If they set fruit I will let them finish one in the house...now and then

you start with 1 full dropper and build your way up...

I have read through your threads and would like to know if you can replicate your perpetual SOG in a hydro...I have built a aeroponic system (based on POD RACER's TAG format) Its my understanding that some plants would get taken out of hydro while others were put in, creating a perpetual...but in my hydro system...they are all running off the same res, which is the same nutes for all, with no regard to what stage of growth they are in. If this was ebb and flow even it would be the same problem right? I use the dutch master one nutrients if this matters. Would it be better to just set up separate systems of lets say 16plants per sqft and set those systems in perpetual rather than trying to make each individual plant in the system in perpetual? If it was soil like yours it makes sense to me...just not in hydro..

In regards to lighting, would the 42w cfls be better than the 23w...I started germinating some seeds with a 42w daylight and the heat in my box was too much and the sprouts never came through until I switched to the 23w cool white...I know you can use t5's but sourcing all the parts to DIY is very hard for me. I have looked into PL-Lamps as they have the benefits of the CFL spectrum you both use and have a big more penetration (dont quote me on that as I havent used them yet just read from the forum) I guess my question is what lights would you use for maximum yield in a perpetual SOG. i dont want to grow bushes I would like to keep small plants and flower zero veg time doing it like you two - would there be any benefits in yield by using multiple 250w hps to cover 'x' amount of area with 'x' amount of clones vs using however many CFLs/PL-Lamps for the same amount of area? I know both of you have used HPS and now enjoy CFLs so I am inquiring as to your expertise in which lighting would be better for yield gains or if the small amount of losses due to "lack of penetration" would be mitigated by the better quality of bud due to less heat and less distance between cfls and the bud itself.

thank you so much dr bud

If you want to run them all on the same rez use the Lucas Flora Nova Formula of 8ml per gal all the way through...

I am starting this process using hempy buckets to isolate the roots, yet keep to the hydro ideal. Stop bye in about 6 months and I should have some form of a journal up to demonstrate Dr. Bud's method in hydro - passive hydro anyway...

Dr. Budgreen once again as i know you have heard this many many time..... thank you for this thread and sharing your experiences, also I really respect the way you handled all the harassment and bs that did go on through the thread, took me two days to finally finish this one thread of yours although most of commentary was unneeded it was entertaining and your information was golden, I will be starting up a similar grow in the next week and taking many cuttings from my bubblegum mom from serious seeds, Ill show you once its setup and running...youll hear from me soon :joint:

Dr. you are a genius and I will be trying to replicate your methods only on a smaller scale.

Thanks for posting up all this information and I look forward to growing some dank nuggets.

Peace

Damn. I just stumbled onto this thread.
WOW!!!!! the Doc does it again and has inspired me even more.

masterKahn

finished the WHOLE thread and boy did it take awhile!!!

People sure hate you too!

I'm not one of them, call me a noob if you must but I will be following you over the cliff soon and going the CFL SOG route soon. I didn't see you answer HAL when he asked why you used 42w over 23w. 23w bulbs are much cheaper and i'm on a budget. Do they put off less heat? I'm looking to make as little heat as possible!
