don't worry about bring the ph down slowly ,the longer it takes to get it back to good the longer the plants will have to suffer (even longer).goodluck
As you can see from the pictures they seem to be doing ALOT better after PHing the water. There's still some yellowing on the leaftips, but growth have picked up and they generally look alot healthier, pretty fucking beautiful if you ask me (compared to before). Node spacing is very tight as well, wich I like alot.
Should I cut off the damaged leaves in the lower section or just let the plants do their thing?
I PH'd the runoff at todays watering. I pegged it at around 7-7.3, so next batch to be mixed up in my 5L jug will be PH'd down to 5ish and see where I end up. Right now I got like 6 going in.
Say PH is stable at 5.5-6 when water with 5 going in, do I always have to PH down to 5 then or will it stabilize so that I can go with 5.5-6?
Regarding the old plan with a scrubber at the top as well. Hell yeah brother, a scrubber is definitley needed! They are starting to smell! Very cheesy smell, have not caught any blueberry smell yet though. I love it!
I'll give em a few more weeks in veg, no idea how much they will stretch though.
killerweed: Welcome! Yeah didn't I learn the hard way (read stupid way). Lesson learned, no grow is another alike.
Just keep watering with pH 6.0-6.5, it will eventually stabalize, then just be sure each time you feed or water to make sure the nutrient solution or water is pH'd to 6.0-6.5 and your good, just give a good flush of 1/4 strength nutrient solution every 2-3 weeks, unless it's your final flush, then just use plain r/o water @ pH 6.0-6.5
I've used the same bulb and ballast, it is a great lamp and that ballast is kick-ass! Probably one of the best digital ballast around, Gavita really knows their shit.
Another week passed. Brought the PH down to 5ish on the ingoing water, the plants loved it! Finally that deep green color I've been looking for. I honestly didn't think the PH mattered as much as it does. Rookie growers about to start: Learn my lesson, don't fuck around with the water.
I removed the dead leafs at the bottom, there are some yellow/brownish leafs left but I left them. I gave them a gentle pull and they wouldn't come off, not comfortable with cutting in the plants just yet.
Some thoughts: THEY STINK! Thanks to the hydrostore being open during crappy hours, and me working craptastic hours I havn't had a chance to go get the ducting I need to hook up the filter the way I want it. And the whole place smells like cheese! Nothing outside though, wich is the most important. But you can clearly smell it when opening the front door, even more so when opening the door to the growroom. Heavy cheese smell along with a dieselish smell. Still no blueberrysmell. This is definitley a strain you need a filter for if going stealth.
Not entirely happy with the Secret Jardin reflector. The light spread is kind of poor. I'm noticing the plants stretching towards the middle of the light. Like right between the two CFL's. Not entirely happy with the power either, I don't know if my plants are slow/normal/fast but for the next veg I will probably add another 125W CFL bulb.
Algae! Yeah so people told me algae and rockwool goes hand in hand. They are correct. Not a whole lot but enough for me to not want to have it. I'll buy some diamond reflective plastic when I get to the hydrostore and cover up the rockwool. Should take care of the problem.
@LokiLoki: Thanks buddy! I like it! I hadn't read alot about the ballast when I bought it, I'd just read that Gavita is good quality gear. Nice to know that my equip is good from someone with experience! Welcome to the show!
The two in the back are a bit taller than the others. Can this be signs of different phenos? Would be nice to see it for choosing my motherplant. I will probably give them 2 weeks more in veg before flipping. Dying to give my HPS a go!
I got my oscillating fans home today, BLT 6" clip fans. They are fucking useless. The only time I could feel air moving was when I put my hand right on top of the protective net.
Any advice on good oscillating fans for my tent? The one in veg doesn't have to be a clip fan, but the one for the bloom chamber would kind of have to.
I understand I don't need a tornado, but this one didn't even move the fan leafs. Yeah it took a while, but I gave it a couple of minutes and no improvement :-/
Today I got all the ducting up, smell control is on it's way. Unfortunatley my nose got used to the smell while working in the tent so I can't know for sure until tomorrow. I didn't take any pictures of of it, not much to see. Bottom chamber draws air from the top, through the filter and out from the tent.
I also got some mylar to cover the pots up since I got algae. I'm not feeling the mylar AT ALL! Shit is crazy annoying to work with, especially when you need to do cuts in it. Any advice on good stuff to use to cover it up?
m8 they should a foot tall(minunum)by now there tiny u put those to 12/12 now ur gonna fuck it big time,i no it ur first grow we all get there by trail an error ,good look m8,nice looking tent u got there as well, good set up.
Thanks for your input smokingdog. I know they are tiny, real tiny I don't know if it's because of the small light or because they suffered at early age? They have recently been close to the PH I want them to be, around 6 last time I checked runoff. A bit lower and we're good Thinking about vegging them under the HPS for a while as well.
I can't afford nutes right now so I'll wait until the end of the month to flip them. First grow isn't really about yield for me. I've never smoked before so it's just to learn and to try out the smoke
