Day 50? Too much vaping lately, been trying to get over this cold. Lets see... Flipped 12/12 on 2/23/12, yesterday was exactly 7 weeks which is 49 days. So yup today is 50. Some of the day counts above may be wrong...
Chocolope looks like she wants to finish faster than I figured. She just got a bit of koolbloom but it seems late so that is all she gets. TGA ladies are on a sucanat water mix. Smells like a fruit stand in there.
Giving them a bit of UVb via zoomed reptisun 10.0 for the final days.
Good for the ol pet and sniff hehe. Blasphemous I know but sometimes flowering bores me so much, just feeding and watching. I love veg where I can snip and bend and twist and get handsy with her.
I'm going to try a tomato or something else in there when it gets too hot to run in the spring/summer just to have something to do. Got my eyes on a few hot weather varieties. Might even scrog em lol.
Great grow and shows pl-l are useful grow lights, mine are vertical in corners of tent. I am gonna get the reptisun 10.0 cfl. Is yours the tube or the cfl, distance from plants? I was planning on using it 1 hour a day for the last month of flower.
Thanks Opus, can't wait to give it a try after a proper cure.
yesum that's pretty much what im doing, using the tube version. You'll see in my weekend update but getting them close burned up some of my querkle fans. I read on a reptile forum that they have a pretty big burst of output in the beginning and normalize after a certain number of hours so maybe that was the problem.
Unfortunately because of the way I set up my light + reflectors I can't incorporate a light that will get even coverage, so what I have to do is manually stick the tube between the AH supply reflectors and move in one space over each day, to get "evenish" coverage. I keep my plls about 4-5" above the canopy so that's about where the UV tube is but it dips a bit lower than that once its sitting in there. The ones that really burned up weren't that far off at all a mere 2-3" or so.
(lower than that now, but to get an idea) I wanted to get it below the reflectors so I can get the side dispersing light instead of losing it to the upper part of the reflectors. Once I get some LEDs into those spaces I'm going to have to come up with another way to get uv in there.
lookin good, i bet that choclope is gonna taste good, i tried it and liked the flavor a lot, dont remeber much on ptency, think it was average, but flavor was up there with the best
Hope you're right! If I was just going for peak "high" I would have chopped by now but I'm mostly oil these days and just use flowers for the occasional joint/vape session, so full flavor is a must. I am starting to see some amber here and there on some of the plants. They've all been tapered off nutes and just got their first water-only flush.
Day 59
Querkle burn from being too close to the UV. Luckily it was only the ends of the fans. Some of the popcorn undergrowth nuggets have fully purple calyxs mixed in their buds, so it has potential to do it. Pretty high temps here lately so unless the genetics take over I don't know if I'll see that on top.
Space bomb. Some amber showing up here and there now. I'm not sure if these leaves are going to fade much by the time too much amber shows up, we'll see.
Chocolope. I wonder how much more trich coverage adding LED will push out.
They're all very close. I'll play it by eye and scope from here on out to chop. Waiting for the other space bomb to fully fill out, foxtail a little bit more maybe. Also wondering if being PLL only is lengthening the time til ripeness a bit.
Just read the whole thread. Sick grow! As soon as I saw that first full screen shot in early flower, I knew you would nail it. No easy feat either. Well done.
Thanks Scrub - with the wealth of information out there (thanks for all the work on PLLs!) and experienced brains to pick here I didn't run into too many surprises along the way. Luck + much prep/reading!
There are already tons of things I want to tweak and do better next run. I really wish I could have popped one right away instead of having to wait a season but it is what it is.
How long were you running that uvb bulb? I have to put my uvb within 2 inches of the plants because of space limits, so I was planning to only run it 1 hour a day.
The bulbs burn in at about 150 hours as I remember it. After that they are a little less intense. Might get a 5.0 instead of the 10.0 too.
yesum, I had them showing damage at 2 hours a day, and have scaled back to 1 hour a day for a while. I still have random spotting on some leaves so I'm not exactly sure what the right way to go about it is. Maybe I will just need to get a lowered powered tube or even a different source altogether. Maybe burn it in before putting it in the cab.
However not all plants showed damage. Querkle handled it the worst with clear burning/death on many of the closer fans, and I am getting some rusty spotting on the back R space bomb and slight evidence starting on the chocolope now, but the back L space bomb is still unaffected it seems. All plants definitely showed response via pistil browning/coloration though.
I might chop the chocolope tomorrow, funny since I expected her to go longest. The rest haven't faded to my satisfaction yet and the trichs are still holding well.
I've just decided to throw out the breeder "harvest times" out the window at this point.
Probably could have waited another week if I wanted to... but I didn't.
Sittin' on her throne, pre-chop.
Root porn. I saw no ill-effects of going 100% perlite. The roots permeated through evenly and completely.
The haul. Now I get to watch these micro-sized buds shrink even further hehe. (not pictured, a load of popcorn/trim)
I will re-trim when it dries a little, which will be annoying but I need these to dry slowly being that they will still be in the tent with the other plants.
Chopped a ton of root mass... we'll see if she makes it. 24/0 under 36w of pll.
TGA will be re-assessed as the week goes, but I'm out of town next weekend so we'll see what happens.
I will come back with final weights and smokes reports when those are ready as well. Not done yet!
