I unfortunately have a much more realistic doomsday scenario.

I have heard through trustworthy sources that isolated incidents similar to this have already happened, and will continue to happen on a increasing scale.

What do you think happens, when we tell all these people on wellfare/obamacare/gov. support - that we can't afford to provide for them anymore.

All these people who rely on others to provide for them, will eventually not be provided for, which will lead to a struggle.

The most recent natural disaster that I recall in NY that caused tons of have nots, to have even less, ended with roaming hoards of looters. These consequences of natural disasters are hardly ever released by the press, they prefer not to scare people. If your lucky enough to have an inside source on news that isn't biased and censored, you would have heard about these large gangs. They were traveling in large groups going from house to house ; looting, stealing, murdering, raping people and taking there resources.

Now let's consider what proportion of people in the wellfare demographic, that are minorities. Last I had read minorities were the majority of the people on these programs. When the shit hits the fan and all these people without shelter/food/resources realize they are mostly from the same background, it will begin a race riot.

An then we will have the same scenario where people who have lost their way of surviving, start taking drastic measures to survive. Such as finding someone with something, and taking it. These people already feel entitled to things that aren't theirs.

Believe me, with our current state of affairs, I see this being the most likely, Doomsday like event.

Who cares if the hoard outside your house is zombies, or a hungry hoard of have nots. Either way I'll be shooting them one by one in the head, when they come to my door, to take something that doesn't belong to them.

I believe that electrical failure would lead to a generation that once again will find what truly matters.

Facebook crashing will put people back into touch with REALity.

Amazon not delivering whatever you desire to your doorstep will push you out into the world to find it.

Food will not be driven 1500 miles on fossil fuel just to be eaten.

Where this scenario could prove useful, it's also destined to plunge us into further corruption.

If a better intellectually equipped more resourceful society had the burden it would turn out far less negatively.

I'm guessing that people will probably just rob shoot and pillage until only the simplest of minds remain to rebuild.

An economic collapse? Barrack campaigned on the fact we are heading in the right direction.......
2008 collapse vs 2013 stats:
US federal debt 2008 = 6.4 TRILLION 2013 = 16.7 TRILLION!!!!!!
Unemployed Americans 2008 = 6.7 million 2013 = 13.2 million
Individuals receiving food stamps 2008 = 27 million 2013 = 47 million
Price of gas 2008 = 2.70 2012 (last full year) = 3.53

Get your monies out of the stock market people. I know it has hit historic highs this month, but this is by design.

Mr. President, I rise today to talk about America's debt problem.

The fact that we are here today to debate raising America's debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can't pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government's reckless fiscal policies.

Over the past 5 years, our federal debt has increased by $3.5 trillion to $8.6 trillion. That is "trillion'' with a "T.'' That is money that we have borrowed from the Social Security trust fund, borrowed from China and Japan, borrowed from American taxpayers. And over the next 5 years, between now and 2011, the President's budget will increase the debt by almost another $3.5 trillion.

Numbers that large are sometimes hard to understand. Some people may wonder why they matter. Here is why: This year, the Federal Government will spend $220 billion on interest. That is more money to pay interest on our national debt than we'll spend on Medicaid and the State Children's Health Insurance Program. That is more money to pay interest on our debt this year than we will spend on education, homeland security, transportation, and veterans benefits combined. It is more money in one year than we are likely to spend to rebuild the devastated gulf coast in a way that honors the best of America.

And the cost of our debt is one of the fastest growing expenses in the Federal budget. This rising debt is a hidden domestic enemy, robbing our cities and States of critical investments in infrastructure like

bridges, ports, and levees; robbing our families and our children of critical investments in education and health care reform; robbing our seniors of the retirement and health security they have counted on. Every dollar we pay in interest is a dollar that is not going to investment in America's priorities. Instead, interest payments are a significant tax on all Americans — a debt tax that Washington doesn't want to talk about. If Washington were serious about honest tax relief in this country, we would see an effort to reduce our national debt by returning to responsible fiscal policies.

But we are not doing that. Despite repeated efforts by Senators Conrad and Feingold, the Senate continues to reject a return to the commonsense Pay-go rules that used to apply. Previously, Pay-go rules applied both to increases in mandatory spending and to tax cuts. The Senate had to abide by the commonsense budgeting principle of balancing expenses and revenues. Unfortunately, the principle was abandoned, and now the demands of budget discipline apply only to spending. As a result, tax breaks have not been paid for by reductions in Federal spending, and thus the only way to pay for them has been to increase our deficit to historically high levels and borrow more and more money. Now we have to pay for those tax breaks plus the cost of borrowing for them. Instead of reducing the deficit, as some people claimed, the fiscal policies of this administration and its allies in Congress will add more than $600 million in debt for each of the next 5 years. That is why I will once again cosponsor the Pay-go amendment and continue to hope that my colleagues will return to a smart rule that has worked in the past and can work again.

Our debt also matters internationally. My friend, the ranking member of the Senate Budget Committee, likes to remind us that it took 42 Presidents 224 years to run up only $1 trillion of foreign-held debt. This administration did more than that in just 5 years. Now, there is nothing wrong with borrowing from foreign countries. But we must remember that the more we depend on foreign nations to lend us money, the more our economic security is tied to the whims of foreign leaders whose interests might not be aligned with ours.

Increasing America's debt weakens us domestically and internationally. Leadership means that "the buck stops here.'' Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better.

I therefore intend to oppose the effort to increase America's debt limit.

Barack Hussein Obama, 2006

I think that it's important to understand the vantage point of a senator versus the vantage point of a president. When you're a senator, traditionally what's happened is, this is always a lousy vote. Nobody likes to be tagged as having increased the debt limit — for the United States by a trillion dollars. As president, you start realizing, you know what, we, we can't play around with this stuff. This is the full faith and credit of the United States. And so that was just an example of a new senator making what is a political vote as opposed to doing what was important for the country. And I'm the first one to acknowledge it.

Barack Hussein Obama, 2011

His masters set him straight quick. To raise the debt ceiling is just a political of a move though, he just doesn't want to be the guy who pulls the default trigger.

So that is exactly what preppers are worried about. If a roaming gang shows up you bug out fast and save your lives. You may lose stuff but they will roam on and you will still have a home and your lives.

So in worst case scenarios it doesn't look rosy. That's why I started this thread.

Not to get attention to try and sell more seeds. We hope for legalization here in California.

When this debacle occurs you may see all the states seceding like in the ussr and a break up of Europe too.

So we all can see that no real solution even seems possible but one good thing is that our military forces won't be affordable and America might stop having so many wars to feed our massive military industrial complex.

This is power govts don't want to cut and they tend to make it a priority rather than a necessary evil. All this points. To chaos really and going back to a more sensible agrarian society may be ok eventually but the transition back to the dark ages will be a bitch.

When this debacle occurs it will be whole countries led to war for a "great cause".

North Korea?

We haven't heard much about Iran lately?

They can't have even more, isolated, financially independent, individual state actors. They will do their best to consolidate power further and further until all soveriegn nations are finally under overt supranational authoritarian rule.

This has been a pipe dream of conquers for eons. For one person or institution to rule the world.

Granted they are pretty much already there behind the scenes, but to bring the world under one universal rule known to all is impossible IMO. A major crisis may allow TPTB to consolidate even further, but national self determination ends all attempts at controlling to much land mass with one ideology. They will try, but will fail miserably as any attempt will descend into chaos.

Ya exactly! but we all (most) point our fingers and laugh at these preppers. We make our selves feel better by thinking, "what an idiot, zombies will never hit!" or "The cold war is over, were not at threat" or "Things have always been fine in this area, so they always will be".

When the reality is, things far beyond our control, can make these scenarios come upon us quickly, and sometimes unexpectedly.

An it won't be likely that it's a group of zombies out there coming for ya. It's gonna be a huge group of have nots either through the loss of wellfare, natural disaster, or financial collapse.

Some may think this is crazy talk, but I'm telling you, those roaming gangs made their way around NY after the natural disaster. They don't get any news coverage, because people can't swallow the reality. If you know anyone in law enforcement though, they can tell you all about it. They get special reports and in some cases get recruited for support to deal with these crazy situations.

Glad I recently cashed in most of my mutual funds, and bought some land. Hope the market does tank so I can make a killing when/if it rebounds.

I like those quotes from obama. What a joke, responsible spending? HA

How do politicians not see the seriousness of balancing the budget, no matter what, and starting to pay debt, no matter what. I don't care what it takes, it's not an option to continue running up countless debt.

I don't laugh at the preppers because I am one too. Many people are able to see the depth of the worlds problems while others seem to put their heads in the sand.

Why worry eh? A lot of folks care about their kids and home and the dogs and the cat.

Ya know I had a home invasion once and they tied me up and tapped a pistol with a silencer on my head. I told them where the weed was and asked them to take it and go.

I could have killed them but I didn't choose that route. It worked out ok but you don't want to surrender and hope it turns out ok. You may need to protect yourself and your family and you should.

Jesus was right about forsaking violence even to the point of taking a slap without fighting but instead turning the other cheek. Did that once but don't try and slap me the second time.

We thought about it and decided to have a war plan long ago. Being prepared and even fighting isn't crazy. Sometimes it's the only thing that makes sense.

I could sacrifice my life but not my family and they still need me. Be the man!!

Don't hide your head in the sand in fear and denial. Be prepared for anything.

I know someone who filled his cellar up with canned and dried foods, camping kit etc, in preparation for 2012.

Actually a lot of it was left over from when he filled his cellar up in preparation for the year 2000. Fuck all happened then either.

Worse case scenerio I can grab a gun off a dead person.....even then it would be for protection and stealing food. If things got bad the govt would be handing out MRE's and having huge mess tents. I think people would share unless there was no Govt at all...in that case ya better got something to trade or a farm of your own.

Weed is good to have if their is no gov, cause fact is that stuff trades nicely! If we had to grow our own food I would be in a ghillie suit all day and all night.

I agree, I'm just saying they will forever be trying, and great wars are one of the tools used.

i think some have confused the "new world order" which has been/is still being implemented with "doomsday", possibly because it is approaching doomsday for christianity/islam and judaism as well as alot of other things, and many can read between the lines and see that is a major part of the paradigm shift that will define the age we are going into..

this crusade in the middle east and the impending implosion of israel is all apart of it.. this is actually why israel was created, it's a timed bomb.. i bet you 2015 is a bad year..

What is funny to me is the idea of prepare for the worst, hope for the best is lost on people. There is a reason, you just can't see it yet.
