Man I just wanted you to know I feel your pain.

I used to clone like a champ even as a beginner but I've been messing them up lately.

I recently took about 20-30 clones, basically all my bottom branches of plants that were going to flower, and only one rooted thank god at least it did..

I took 3 clones a few weeks later and after 2 weeks they weren't showing roots.. so I took them out of the RRs and redipped them in cloning powder I hadn't had success with earlier... 5 days later and I they've just started to root :)

Hey man I see you use a heat mat. Do you think this makes a big difference?
I have a heat mat but I never bought the thermostat so I have a hard time regulating temperatures and sometimes I accidentally cook my clones and won't use it anymore.

it does speed the process up to keep clones between 18 and 25c but if your cooking them then its best to not use one :)

higher temps and excessive humidity will also help fungi or bacteria turn clones to mush though,,

i dont need a thermostat for my mat as its so cheap and low wattage unlike my old one. i got several of em their sized for seedling trays. the trays i use are thicker and have like a bump on bottom all the way around leaving a small gap. keeps temps just right. i have never cooked any . it looks like a rain forest in there for first week i dont do anything.then i crack lid for week .then remove lid and mist once.done. and i can take big clones

I hear ya Bro. Last year I'd get roots in 3-4 days. Trying to do my outdoor thing and it's taking up to 2 weeks. I also, am doing new strains and attribute it to that.

My house looks like a damn garden center,I have clones here, there and everywhere.Hoping I put a couple in the right spot.It will work itself out,it always does.
But for now Im still blaming that darn kitten:)Bob

When I first started cloning I spent way too much time paying them any attention. did rockwool, dropped 300 on an ezcloner, tried coil, always failed.

Starting doing it with coco, dome on it for two days, take it off, and never look at them again and now I have roots starting in 7, totally filling the 7oz cups in two weeks.

biggest thing for me other than leaving them alone was burying at least two nodes. NEver did that before.

Hope you figure it out soon bobcat.

keep it green.

i learned using olivias. which contains zero root stimulators. just ferts. took me like 5 years to realize that. then when i started using other stuff with i3ba and naa my cloning took the hell off.i have tried every method since and goback to promix or similar and perlite 50/50 in solo cups with humidity dome. never fails me

I have a new bale of sunshine mix and a bag of perlite somewhere around here.....Gonna give your method a try,Thanks

it has never let me down. and worked well on every strain so far. i tried peat pucks and rapid rooters. they both suck and are overpriced. i aint looking to fix what already works anymore. anyone need 150 rapid rooters LOL

good luck bobcat. i love my sterilite trays from walmart for cloning i must have 40. one for top ,one for bottom. they are way sturdier than those wimpy seedling trays . they also hold more plants and help buffer the heat from the seedling heat mat.

damn it wont let me edit. i have never cooked a tray either. as long as it looks like a rain forest in there your good to go. maybe find some occasional mold where leaves overlap which just gets cut off and isnt an issue. the trays dont perfectly seal either by the handle are on each side is a tiny air gap when one tray is used for a dome. started using em in og days and several states and locations with success each time .

I still suck at cloning.....5% success rate at best. The best batch I had was back in February when I had to tear down the grow on short notice, and had put all my clones in a trash bag and tossed them under my bed.I found them two weeks later, and "most"of them survived.Oh well, have not lost my ability to Vape.Peace.Bob:)

Here a little story

I learned to clone at a job where we made hundreds of hundreds of clones daily. We did this in 50 ct trays, with a dip in root hormone and then under plastic tarps under a humidity domed greenhouse. We would get around 80-90 percent most of the time depending on weather.

Over the years I have had a range of cloning results. I once had roots in 5-6 days using peat pellets with clones under the shade of another plant in full veg 400MH lighting.

Recently I have had much longer times for roots to emerge. I thought I was losing my mojo. Turns out it was really a matter of patience. I once left a frustrating tray of clones sitting in the top of a trash barrel under an upstairs window. I thought they weren't going to root since it had been 2 1/2 weeks. Sure as shit though those babies almost all cut roots, it just took an amazing amount of time.

My last batch I was more careful about two things.. temp and how I cut my clones. Instead of cutting a big fan leaf with scissors to reduce surface area, I cut off fan leaves if they were too big and just left whole leaves. Other then that I left them the hell alone except for 2-3 mistings early on. Got nearly 100 percent in around 25 days. Longer then usual but fully successful.

Rapid rooters and clonex never fail me. Once I found those things years ago, my rooting troubles vanished. I had tried EZ clone, peat pellets, home made shit, but nothing touches rapid rooters. Idk. I have abused the hell out of some cuttings in the past and they still insist on popping roots.

I use clonex powder from my local grow shop. I also use KLN in my water. That helps a lot.

Im not throwing in the towel just yet....picked up 50 rapid rooters today(which I have used in the past with limited success) and a buddy sent me some Juicy Roots cloning gel,he swears by it.I swear at gels in general, but will give it a go.
I know damn well its not the product, its a flaw in my technique.I have proved that.On hand I have juicy roots, hormex liquid, hormex powder, dip n gro, greenlight and bontone.I love a challenge, and have been mentally challenged with cloning for a long while now.We will see....Thanks to everyone for their tips and support.Bob
