Don`t call it Marijuana...

C

Chamba

Hearst couldn't call it "cannabis" because that was an ingredient in just about every over the counter medicene during from the previous 150 years up until the WW1 (then big pharma co's changed from natural to unnatural medicenes that could be Patented which in turn guaranteed their profits)....

he couldn't call it "hemp" because everyone knew that was useful for windbreaks, rope, canvas etc...

so he grabbed the word "marijuana" , sentationalized and smeared it and since then this word has negative connotations... at the time of Hearst's rascist smear campaign on cannabis most people in the US did not know that hemp and cannabis were in fact the same as the "new deadly drug" that was sweeping the nation that causes white women to become naked and lose their innocence with dark skinned males and every white man to become instant murderers and or suicidal....Hearst was merely protecting his profits, as he owned vast tracts of land planted with trees used for paper making..he knew that hemp would wipe out some of his fortune...read the "Emporer wears no clothes" by Jack Herer

everytime I read or hear the word in the media it is associated with more negativity and lies....I never use the word marijuana...to do would be to help the controllers in further demonizing this useful plant

call it cannabis, it's legitimate name.....or "ganja", the Sanskrit word for cannabis which is still used in India, Thailand and other countries

I call it Ganja

btw the word "dope" is a very common name among smokers in Australia for cannabis! go figure!...but that's an Aussie sense of humor..if every Aussie carried a gun they call it "my murder weapon" for a laugh..ha!

especialy the congres that passed the tax act in 90 seconds...

Chamba nails it, +1,000,000.

 they screwed all of us by deception and lies and they used that M word to do it.

It could have been any word and i would h8 it because of the context that created its means for THEM to control US :badday:

ok, so they grabbed the already existing word 'marijuana' since it was not associated with names people already knew and related to useful and good things so as to have a name to use in their crazy propagandas. now, this does not mean that them bald heads actually created the term; as i already explained, the term was created in relation to entheogenic uses. there is a difference. hence not the same as the word 'nigger'.

peace.

That`s cool, nothing wrong with that.

However,

I try to not only grow and use it, but to try and clear it`s bad rep, support legalization/medical efforts and educate those around me that have been fed mis-information re: Ganja.

I`m not content just to smoke it, I want to help get the truth out. The nomenclature is a part of the effort to repress. Just a subtle part.

Fair enough, and definitely admirable. I fully support the legalization, though I myself never considered bringing forth specific nomenclature and its use in propaganda.

Well said and you've opened my eyes to it. :headbange

Back in the early and mid 80s my friends and I used to sometimes call it 'doobage' but usually we used the term 'pot' , 'dope' , or 'weed'. Back then the older cats (those that grew up in the 60s and 70s) tended call it grass.

These days I usually refer to it as smoke or ganj. Why I leave off the 'a' I can't say. Must be a syllable thing. Sometimes I still call it pot or if I am being facetious or mocking something I'll call it Mary-ja-wanna.

I've never called it cannabis .I can't imagine calling it dope these days, but it was a more acceptable term 20 years ago and used by a lot of people.
