I go to myrtle beach almost every summer that place is a big dream i love it. plenty of pot there too me and my girlfriend was sitting on our ocean side motel and we seen 2 killer whales going down the coast and there were sirens letting people know to get out of the water. theres a place called the red hot shop and they sell some of the best blown glass ive ever seen. i wish i lived there!

I live about a 2 hr drive from Myrtle Beach & in the summer, that place is wall-to-wall people. Drive from North Myrtle to Myrtle on US 17 [about 3 miles] & it will take over an hour in the summer.
If you're young & looking for action, Myrtle Beach is THE place. But if you'd prefer a more family-oriented, low-key beach...the ones along the NC/SC border are the ones to hit. :joint:

Rev Wills: Thanks so much for your gracious invitation! Sound like you have a real love for the place and I enjoyed reading your post and appreciate the information.

Buckeye: Myrtle Beach sounds like a great place to visit. I just checked the Real Estate there and it's a bit pricey. Cost of living and taxes is probably higher too.

I'd like to be near water 'cause I loves to fish but I don't want to spend too much time hustling to pay for a house! Ashville sounds good.

Crossthread. Name me some small towns close to the water on the NC coast. I don't think I'll have to worry about the lack of like minded individuals since there seem to be so many people on this site living down that way.

Zoltron et al, what do you think? I'd be looking for maximum appreciation and minimum cost in Real Estate. Than anyone think of up and comming areas that would provide a good return on investment? Do the houses have basements?

Redbone...a couple of answers to your questions.

1st off, for investment, the Pinehurst area still has inexpensive properties & that place is growing big-time for rich retirees from up North. They bought their homes in NY/NJ/CT back in the 40s for $15,000 & can sell it now for $700,000 bought & paid for, hit Pinehurst for a real nice house for $180-$200K. They got $500,000 still :yoinks:!!!

2nd, to live inexpensively, would be some little country town, with all the stores & shit ya need, but if you're still into nite-life, fuggedaboutit :badday:!! None!! But for a family raising kids, they're perfect.

NC has so many different landscapes, I wouldn't know which direction to steer you...the mtns, the Piedmont, The Triad area, The Triangle area, the Sandhills, Down East, Beaches. There's a bunch of different climates within 1 state. Mtns you'll get snow, the Sandhills no way [or very rarely]. But that's about the rundown. Damn, sorry to ramble...I'm ripped!! :joint:

Zoltron, you blasted again!?

A small country town would be right up my alley. I have no kids to raise but I find that in my old age I much prefer living in a small town as opposed to living over the bar. If I want night life that gives me an excuse to hit Vegas or the Islands.

Optimum would be a little farm. I'm a creative and I enjoy the company of animals more than humans these days.

I bet you had a big fat breakfast and went back to sleep. I like that in 'ya!

:yoinks: WOW!!! You know me like a book!! :chin:  :D

If you'd like a nice little town with mostly warm temps all year, a place like Whiteville, NC or even smaller, Rowland, NC [which is right near the NC/SC line]. They'd be inexpensive & small like Mayberry ....

But if you like a little more winter in your seasons, places around Hickory or Asheville, NC are beautiful & you will get snow. But like the part I live in [Sandhills], we've mostly been in the 60s so far. :bigeye:

Redbone...

Considering I know very little about your situation, but know some parts of the Carolinas quite well...I would say that a hip town which has a liberal undertone to it would be Beaufort NC or, if you prefer places farther away from watching eyes but still a small town atmosphere, head toward Cedar Island, as there are many good people along that way as well.

respect... e
