Do you wear camo?

Never grown outdoors before, but guerrilla growing is something that i've been considering. I think that camouflage would be considerably more important for guerrilla growers than for hunters, as they are trying to hide themselves from other people and not just animals...

So this question is for all of you guys that grow in secret areas, what do you like to wear when you're sneaking around in the woods?

Yep. Just like in the Marines. You will never see me unless I want you to and then it is much too late.

Wear normal hiking clothes, plan a good story for what you are doing out there, and act normal until about 100m away. Then at least cover your face when checking them in case if anyone put cameras up around your grow. Do you really think people won't see you walking out if you wear camo? How do you think it will look if you meet anyone on the way and you dressed like a sniper in the middle of summer? Bad idea.....

Where I LIVE EVERYONE wears camo...........everyone hunts. So it is normal. They see some fairy running around in Northface hiking cloths they will call the cops.

I was coming back from my grow. Walking in rather open country while wearing desert cammo. Off in the distance I saw two people on horseback headed my way. There was no real place to hide so I lay down prone on my back behind a bush. A horse almost stepped on me before the guy saw me LOL! So there I am in cammo laying on my back in the middle of nowhere trying to shoot the breeze with this couple as if nothing was out of the ordinary. Pretty weird situation. I can only imagine what was going through their heads.

Figure out ahead of time the role you're going to play and dress accordingly. At the very least have a bird book and binoculars in your pack. All your gardening tools should live at the grow.

Long story short , yes camo is important and a good head net / face mask even more important ! I got busted this year because of not wearing my head net one time this past summer. They had cameras up !

LOL! Ok, maybe that will depend on where you live!

Just wondering, what do they hunt in the middle of the summer? Do you carry your gun? Or can I guess people wont talk to you too much if you look like you are hunting, so it don't matter...,
I think the situation will be very different if you are on someones property you are not supposed to be.

 This is frigging GOLD!!!! And yes I would wear camo as it's better to blend in than stand out like dog's balls :D

Wow all i can see is a black pr of track pants! Amazing hehe ;)
I drape myself in the skin of a dead kangaroo and hop through the bush. You'd never know it was old kenny under there.

Badticket, Nice plants - thanks for sharing what someone who really does guerilla grows outdoor needs to do for protection.

I like the black track pants alot better than full camo and no gun during a season when most people don't hunt. At least this way when he leaves his patch he can take down his hood and look like he has nothing to hide. I like a dirty grey color best. It looks normal but you can't see it well in the woods.

Maybe where vonforne lives it's different, but most of us need a story that really makes sense. Where I live 9 in 10 people will go back, find your patch and rip you if something don't look right!

Happy growing guys, good thread.

I prefer dark, earth colored clothes. Something that blends in well enough, but doesn't look suspicious. There are some nice face coverings that aren't suspicious to use on a bug filled day.

does not matter what you wear if the helicopters are over head.we all look like the guy who is gonna get nailed by the predators if the choppers are about ,from the heat signature .i would say dress as a bear but even thats dodgy .you may get shot ,or even worse come across another bear !

Yea man. I have pix of full camo, but then it's just a head floating in the woods, the rest is so super stealthy i thought this would make more sense to post :)

Seriously tho, army stuff is great for guerrillas, they last, usually are warm and wind/waterproof, not to mention the camo for some extra.
Also you can get that shit dirt cheap from army retail stores.
And those are not track pants, they are work pants, used to be waterproof too, but not anymore. Still, very good for forest action where stuff gets smelly, moist and dirty. No place for pinstripes.:tiphat:

HEHE. Yeah i've got a couple of mates who hunt feral pigs and most of the time they poach on other peoples property's. A BIG no-no! Anyway i went out with them one day and i swear they were dressed as if they were going to war lol and of corse i took the piss. He looked at me and said 'well they'll see you first' he then explained things to me about how risky it was to be seen by the redneck farmers and how they're quite happy to shoot you, after this lil chat, i totally understood and i I felt totally under dressed lol.

I don't wear camo because I grow near the city and I would stand out way too much. Also I don't want to be shot by some idiot hunter.

You don't stand out because in every good entrance and exit strategy you're not wearing your camo. You put it on once your in the bush.

90 deg mid summer I have camo everything including backpack. I wear gloves and a hat too no matter what the temp. Guerrillas are usually growing in hard to get areas. Thorns, roses, nettles you need protection from the sun, the vegetation and of course HUMANS.

The point is to not be seen. I agree that coming up with a back story is a good idea but its plan D not A,B or C. I would assume you don't need a back story when growing on public property. Hell you can be naked its none of their business. If its private property they have to catch me I'm not hanging around to tell them I'm bird watching.
