Do you consider air travel expensive/or take it for granted?

too expensive to travel by air these days imo.

add in the taxi to & from the airport(s), or even parking your own car @ your departure airport. next you're either stuck with taking taxi's everywhere or renting a car, not necessary in NYC if that's your destination. I prefer to take my pets when I travel, a real expense and major inconvenience if flying.

I prefer my own car if traveling the lower 48.

Driving is tops for me. I also really like Amtrak, very chill way to travel. The trick is to treat the train ride as part of the experience. If you are too antsy to get to your destination you'll hate it. I like to bring some edibles to make it interesting.

The destination isn't moving...
Enjoy the journey.

Did I meet you about 12-14 years ago on the Amtrack between Reno & SLC?

I got on a double-decker bus on monday, it's great fun traveling on one of those, upstairs, and right at the front, you get a great panoramic view of London, and it's not so expensive....

In and around Europe there are alot of budget airlines, many of them in close competition with other airlines, and if you fly off-peak its relatively cheap...

Wasn't me bud, but its always rad when you get a hookup on the train. People tend to be more friendly on the train vs flying/airports; I've gotten food and beer given to me, and I once treated a kid who was moving across the country to lunch. Gotta spread the good vibes:biggrin:

If I wasn't traveling cross country I would definitely considering driving just because of the unreal gas prices. I'm paying around $1.99/gallon compared to over $4 just a few years ago.

My wife's family all lives in the east coast, so we've flow out for the holidays the last few years. If you're flexible and keep an eye on prices, you can get some sweet deals. We also rock the airline miles. This fall we're flying to Nicaragua for the cost of taxes and fees thanks to that.

I do live the train though, and we're taking a two day journey back east this summer. We're flying home, though. The flight is only marginally more expensive than the train.

54 days in advance will get the best prices on airfare.

when you just gotta get there, it's the only way. try taking the train to Maui.

i dislike flying and yeah I take those white streaks like a bitter pill.
