Do you believe THC can "cure" cancer?

Have a friend diagnosed with cancer and has been going for traditional (chemo) treatment but is also self medicating with MMJ as his wife mentioned that the "THC protocol" is having more of an affect on the cancer going away than the chemo.

Im a skeptic...I work in pharma, and from what I can tell there simply is not a lot of hard science to back up the claims that THC cures cancer.

Don't know been reading up on cannabis oil still skeptical but I do know before a lot of cancer victims die they get thin lose their appetite(cancer has taken a lot of my family and friends most who refused mmj to stimulate appetite) not sure if its due to chemo or what but when my time comes I'll be ready and stocked with different strains and extracts to get ready for the fight it's genetically on both sides of my family so I know its most likely coming for me as well not to mention the statistics some say 1 in 4 some say 1 in 3 I've seen 1 in 2 either way odds are good cancer is going to effect you at some point.

Maybe a cure for cancer has not been scientifically "proven" but one thing you can count on is that Cannabis treatment will do no harm.

It's safe to say Cannabis can make unpleasant things less so. It can help with appetite and sleep. None of those are "cures", but useful nonetheless. Maybe it also helps reduce the production of stress hormones? It's probably not a cure in the antibiotic sense but if it makes life easier and helps us heal ourselves, I'd call it a valuable tool.

I think it heals the mind which helps you body heal itself.

I think cancer can be beat without chemo thru diet, like the Gerson Method, where you basically bombard your body with organic fruit and vegetable based nutrients. Cancer is caused by imbalances in the body and prolonged inflammation, I think prevention is the cure.

i believe there is strong evidence in suport of cannabis reducing oxigen flow to some malignant tomurs which stops them growing and can even cause them to reduce.

but even if it's not directly curing cancer, the fact that it makes chemo bearable and gives you an apatite despite chemo as well as helping with the nausea related to chem, means that it will help over all. your body can not fight off a sickness if you don't eat well. further more it's known that the head state is important too when it comes to recovering from being sick. if you are happy you have a much better chance of getting better then if you are miserable and depressed.

there is a study that was done on rats with tumors i believe that was very promising.

in breast cancer they have found that coffee and ooh long tea helps by restricting the bloodflow to the cancer cells causing them to die...was on Dr Oz..but haven't seen where thc directly has any benefit except for appetite...dj

If you had a defect in a cell cycle checkpoint like an over expression of cyclin then how in gods name does diet or weed cure that? Do you guys honestly believe that a molecule inside that smoke you inhale travels all the way down to a tumor site and magically attaches itself to our DNA or protein for the purpose of regulating expression? Or maybe that thc is flagging cancer cells distinctly for apoptosis? Wtf man learn your cell biology. If weed cured cancer there'd be no such thing as cancer, plain and simple. Life isn't one big conspiracy theory and no one is supressing the secret healing abilities of marijuana. It doesn't cure cancer. It merely improves the quality of life for someone with cancer. People dedicate their entire lives to studying cancer and finding a cure. Don't insult them with drivel. Genetically altered antibodies...now there's something that has potential. Fuck weed, real people are dying and you're talking about something that gets you high. It's just like these drunks that can't stop crowing about the benefits of wine. It has hardly any benefits which are negated by the terrible effect that alcohol has on the body, but that doesn't stop drinkers from jamming their bullshit down your throat. Weed is no different. Some of you need to accept that it is not a miracle plant.

kills cancer.

Yes there is evidence that it can reduce tumors. Kills cancer? Absolutely not. It does nothing on the genetic level and eventually tumor growth would overwhelm any of thc's ability to reduce metastasis or shrink a tumor. You're not respecting the complexity and persistence of the disease. Quoting research articles on what happens to mice in isolated experiments (assuming you're not a molecular biologist) and having no real experience in cancer biology kinda makes this silly. No chemically balanced scientist would extrapolate "kills cancer" from those papers. I'll say it again...MARIJUANA WILL NOT CURE CANCER

There is every probability that NO ONE KNOWS just what cannabis can and cannot do.

YOU need to understand that we don't know. ........

If anyone might know,,, and has actually done some research?

You might look to Israel, Canada, and France... and see what they have to say. We here in the U.S. for the most part, can't even legally get it TO study.

Also there would seem to be some probability that if you just stop adding carcinogens to your system that the body does a fairly decent job of healing itself. That belief thing you know?

Positive thinking is really good too. What the heck, if your going to die (and we all are), you might as well enjoy it. I do however, prefer edibles, to smoke in my lungs. lol

Clinical trials are now legal in Canada so maybe soon we could figure this out. I believe Cannabis will be a useful tool for many serious Cancer doctors. As for an outright cure, I am not sure. I would take a (somewhat)educated guess and say whole extracts are more likely be anti-cancer than THC alone. The problem I see currently, with many studies the focus is on THC, when they should be looking into all aspects of the plant, including other Cannabinoids, terpenes, and many combinations of both.

No it's not. Prevention cannot stop cancer.

You are not just born to have cancer. You may have a genetic predisposition to cancer but it is life style that makes that predisposition a reality. It's called epigenetics, where your genes express themselves and your DNA can be altered thru environmental inputs.

If you eat garbage your whole life, smoke cigarettes, and abuse your body chances are you will get cancer, so is that environmental or is that genetic?

I bet if you looked at a wide range of cancer patients, there was something they did, ate, used or were exposed to which made it happen. It is so hard to avoid it in today's world with environmental pollution, toxins in our food and products we use.

I don't believe cancer is just something that happens, anyone I have known personally with cancer lived unhealthy lifestyles, even if they didn't realize their lifestyle was unhealthy as an outsider looking in I can see what may have caused what they had.

I'm sure that just because two hospitals in Israel have vaporizers IN the hospital......

That there is NO medical benefit derived from cannabis!

Ya buying that STILL?

By the way, my wife's Kimo DR. agrees with the Israelis. (Twice now, but she doesn't participate.) Go figure.

And FDA approved!

But cannabis 'has no medical value'.
