Mills and DNA does it again. This was a fine run. Everything turned out very frosty. Ive got a new room now with alot more space and the same number of plants. I will be able to move around alot easier. The Docs by far was my favorite.

hey dude, whats the scoop on these lights? Ive never seen them at retail or trade show (recently). Are you still using them?

If you guys like DNA labs, why not just buy the lamps on Ebay?

Same lamp?! Apparently, DNA isn't even using their digi ballast anymore, because guess what they found out...the lamps don't like em. :)

Thing that bugs me about DNA is that nowhere in their literature or when I've seen them interviewed, have they mentioned Philips at all. They talk about their innovations, research...how wonderful the lamp is, on and on and on...yet nothing about the actual bulb, where it comes from, etc.

I find that kinda thing wishy washy...rebranding something and insinuating that it's your own..more or less. You know, just admit it up front...tell people what it is and put a competitive twist on it.

I know that the 860w bulbs are designed for 248v low frequency 50/60hz operation and the DNA 900w is just a rebranded 860w, so when looking at the DNA ballast specs the input voltage and Hz seem correct but the output is high frequency still at 100-200khz which yes it may run the bulb but the efficiency and longevity will be sacrificed so you end up having to switch them out more frequently and have spectrum inconsistancies.

The Only real viable one to run them I can see are the accendoe digital ballast with has a LFSW(low freq. sine wave) output 50/60hz and is a digital mulit voltage ballast but range between $350-430! Another option that may work would be the hortilux platinum but the LFSW is still at 120hz so it may not be much different than the DNA ballast as far as proper bulb operation.

At least though DNA is tring to be on the edge I guess.

It's an excellent bulb, no doubt. The entire company(DNA) is built around the Philips 860w cdm, more or less.

AFAIK, 860w cdm shouldn't be used with anything digital, magnetic only(preferably Philips pulse-start MH), even tho DNA has their own ballast. Pretty sure I heard someone say they're not using it anymore.
