I just know you need that radiant energy & DE HPS is the best & cheapest way to do that - what do you use for radiant energy?
What do you mean by "radiant energy"? All energy that is radiated is "radiant energy". It can be any wavelength. Radio waves are radiant energy.

Or are you referring specifically to infra-red (which doesn't drive photosynthesis, except to speed up the chemical processes of pretty much all organic life that contains water, which readily absorbs infra-red energy)?

We have done UVB vs UVA grow-offs and seen cannabinoid levels go backwards. Here are some 12% UVB Arcadia reptile bulbs. A screen was hung between the middle and the UVB plants on the left tested 14% THC while the UVA plants on the right tested 25% THC.

The reason was simple: UVB photo-oxidises cannabinoids faster than UVA or other forms of light. The UVB bulbs were run for 6 hours a day, which was far too long. Small doses of UVB can have the same effect as larger doses of UVA.

I like your project (y)

I did the UV studies nearly a decade ago; posted extensively on it; pros & cons of everything, including UVB and levels matter…. Keep on studying is my advice

Hint look into reptiles deeper and what they need and also we as humans and vitamin D synthesis, it’s no coincidence where the real goods are for UV

You know what I meant as radiant being the near infrared & heat energy, no reason to be a wise ass trying to sound smart - KISS - plants with 400-700nm lighting are sorely lacking, now 290-850nm+ and now we’re a talking - just like the Sun & earth

Peace

For us interested could you link to the postings?
I also wonder why you go for vitamin D synthesis actionspectrum rather than uvr8? I grant you that nature and physics seems to be very much in to recycling and that vitamin D synthesis may be a good lead but why would you think its a better lead than the absortion spectrum of uvr8?
Its also worth mentioning that uv leds have come a tremendous way in the last 10 years, i agree that 10 years ago reptile bulbs would have been much superior to any (uvb or uva) leds available to reasonable prices.
