High All.....

I had issues with clogging jets. i built a filter and installed it on the intake end of the pump. Or find a premade filter. theres filter bags out there. now i clean my misters every other rez changes,7-10 day change of fluid. 2nd rez change i add half strength nutes, 400 ppm or so.

Had issues with ecoplus & sunleaves pumps. NOT enough PSI to make my 5 misters on my 350 gph pump Spray right, they spray, but not like my 350 GPH pondmaster. My pondmaster is equivalent to 2 -3 eco or sun pumps on the amount of spray coming from my misters. Not to mention getting severley electrocuted by my ecoplus pump when i stuck i opened the cover to breifly stick my hand in the water to grab the floating thermometer. ZAPPPP... damn eco pump got me

Eco an sun leaves pumps can move water, but they have weak back pressure. Back pressure is needed to build psi to force the water out of the misters to create a nice even quick small droplet spray.

Had issues with clones just kinda of putting out root knubs, or not rooting period. healthy clones would sit for 20-30 days with no roots .

Turned out to be the issues with clogging misters, 2 the poor spray patterns from previous weak pumps. and 3, not enough light from my previous cfls.

I now use a 110 watt T5 6500k setup. I set it at 2-3 ft above when the clones go in . 4-5 days later i lower it to like 1.5ft. by day 8 it's 1ft above.

MUCH better results. i had clone that were there for 30 days now root. clones usually take about 8-10 days, some show roots day 6-7. BUT, now by day 15 almost all have developed healthy root systems suitable for transplanting.

Also dont crame in lots of clones on one lid. have like 2-3 inches bewtween pucks.

Also, if you pucks are thick, make sure NO WOUNDED/ trimmed portion of the stem is within the puck, or above the puck. Below is fine. I find less root issues by practicing this.

That's my story after thousands of lost clones...to my 3-4 diy cloners i built over the past 3 years.

Now ,I finally can count on a good amount of my clones taking. Dont cram them in there, they need the light.

The straight up DIY cloner listed in the thread may work for some, but it didint for me. These where some improvements and practices not mentioned that made it work FOR ME.

Damn gman be careful bro unplug those pumps before sticking your hand in that water. Glad your ok....

i lifted the cover and quickly put my hand in the water to grab an check the thermometer, like i have done so many times before.

I hate unplugging the pump. I can not tell u how many times i have forgoten to plug the pump back in, then i come back 16-24 hrs later to a lid of dead or half dead clones. So many times. I even wrote reminders all over sayin " everything plugged in, ASS!" ..... and i still forget.

"Yes they do stay on 24/7."

Mine is on for 45 sec. every 5 minutes... you can have it on 24 hrs but you don't need it to be... save some electricity.

Timer?

Timer?

Hey you guys, do I run it all the time or do I need to get a timer? And if I use a timer, how do I use it? 1 minute on, 15 off? What?
Wait, I think that this was just answered 7 posts back. 24/7. ok

What's the longest anybody has left their clones in their ez-cloner?

I'm just wondering because I'm low on veg space and it would be great if I could leave them in there another couple weeks... (they're already rooted lol..)

Give them a bit more light and throw in some low-level nutes and they are good for a really long time.

I had a situation once where they remained in there for a full two months after thry rooted.

I had to clip both the leaves and roots to keep them managable, but they looked great.

Granted they were fairly large mature plants when they were finally removed, but they produced excellent results in the end.

im getting alot leaking.
Ive cut the pvc from the pump as short as possible.

Anybody have any tips for the leaks?

Sealing wont be the best option as i need to open the lid quite often.
THanks

Built my own 70 unit cloner out of a 18 gallon rubbermaid, but I'm starting to get a little worried. Temps start at 74 degrees and haven't gone higher than 80, but my nice clear tap water (1ppm chlorine from the faucet and adjusted to 6.5ph) turns cloudy and has a mild odor in 24 hours. So far I haven't used a drop of fertilizer and clean the unit with bleach. I've done this 5 times. How are you guys going days or weeks with clean water? I can't imagine how bad it would get if I added fertilizer.

It looks like I'll have a 0% success rate if I let the water get swampy. Any suggestions that don't involve dropping water temp to 68 degrees with a water chiller?

Forget to mention I use an air pump to aerate the water. It's not exactly boiling, but it looks like both air stones are moving more than enough air for 10 gallons of water.
