Disturbing Prophecy from "Breeder Steve"

I just read this in another forum, it was written 11 days ago (1-10-2007) by "Breeder Steve" (SOL) . I won't name the forum, and I'm NOT trying to stir anything up. What he is saying kind of disturbed me, and I wondered if anyone knows what he is talking about more specifically?

I just wonder if LEO 's days of being naive about the internet and the seed business are over. After Emery's bust it will be interesting. Part of it is also Alberto Gonzales and Bush. Two huge incompetant idiots. They have an agenda. It will be interesting to see since they have been backing down off mail interception, the undoing of habeus corpus etc... with a new congress and house. But we have two more years of this asshole left.

My paranoia about the limited number of days of ordering peaked when OG went down. I still haven't grown out all the seeds I bought and I am making f2's of everything.

I ordered the Blues Sat x OG Kush to check out Reds' service, stealth etc. plus it's sold out everywhere else. They didn't make many...

Safe addresses, dummy names, money orders... but still so sad to have to go to such extremes for a plant that people have been growing for thousands of years.

it wont last forever, thats for sure. thats why everyone should do private breeding and work on private lines. im pretty decently stocked for such an occasion, being the cautious individual i am. now i need to start working on strain preservation so i can keep fresh stocks.

Stocking up is the way of the wise, learning about breeding outcrossing plants is recommended.

Hobby breeders buy more seeds than anyone.

The up side is Steve is no prophet, on occasion he does utter drunken rants.

Probably means Steve is quitting, a going out of biz sale. Didn't he go out of biz the year Shanti was busted by the swiss, only to come back?

You couldn't stop the seed biz (especially by the end of the year) if you wanted to. The DEA is almost entirely ineffective at slowing the growth of home cultivation.

Just look at shit like Weed the TV series. The movement is going more and more mainstream and getting more people into it. Of course the bad side is the extra attention we may be getting.

But, Bush has little time and power left. Did you guys know Pelosi (our new democrat Speaker) has spoken at GrateFul Dead shows ?

Don't worry people the grow biz was fine before the internet, it's not going to dry up until legalization becomes a reality. Look at the wiretap law, it just got court approval pushed onto it.

However, don't buy into the better stock up now BS. The time to stock up was years ago before OG went down and seed prices skyrocketed.

Whats the point in stocking up when a new killer strain comes out like every 3 months? Just keep your freaking mom alive or GASP grow you own seeds.

Even if the seed biz magically disappeared by the end of the year it's not like there isn't a massive amount of quality genetics out there already. It's not as if the seed biz drives indoor cultivation. It's just most of the good forums are served out by seed vendors, which is a FUCKING STUPID idea.

OG would still be up if you seed vendors would start seperating yourselfs from owning/running a forum. That's got to be the dumbest idea ever. To run a seed company and forum on growing weed. Man why can't you guys just do one or the other. Running the forums isn't illegal, but you can bet it will be a major part of any investigation agaisnt you. Plus think about your community breeders. By linking your seed operation with a grow forum your putting everyone in jeopardy and making it FAR more likely we lose our forums someday.

If you'd just ensure that the forums are not run/owned or payed by seed business the community would be protected. seed vendors should not be so public about their business that they host forums. I mean how many forums are out there for meth production?

Worst case senario is that we develop an invite only community like many of the new torrent file share communities. Stealth shipping could also be a lot better than it is. Courier services are a potential resource also.

The best idea is a distributed network of people who work together or independantly and superceed the postal service if it ever becomes necessary. Really if you have a couple official seed re-distribution centers in your state you could just drive there because how often do you really need to buy seeds. Might not be as convenient, but it's probably safer and faster and leaves little to no trail for law enforcement to follow.

So, don't worry peeps. The end is not near and the worst case senario is that we go a little more underground, which IMO would be better for us anyway.
The real killer of this community will be when MJ becomes legal in the US and the seed vendors can no longer profit therefore they no longer pay for our forums and we lose everything again.

Hence another reason seed vendors should not be in charge of OUR forums.

Man... the seed business generates too much money, its not going anywhere... even if they DO open up our mail, so what, they cant get em all... even if they bust one seed shop, there'll be 10 more popping up to take its place, in other countries.. there's just too much money to be made.. i dont know breeder steve personally but I think its really, really irresponsible to make statements like that to a community thats usually paranoid to begin with, and not back it up with facts (remember the boy who cried wolf?). If i didnt know any better id think its a sales pitch to sell more seeds.

Facts still remain like as long as theres been black market supply and demand of any item there will be a continued market for it. Everything else that was 'busted' like Emery, Tommy Chong, Cali med clubs but still today we have plenty of online seed suppliers, plenty of glassware and bongs, and still plenty of cali med clubs and places like Jays joints.

Unless Steve has inside information that the internet is going to disappear theres not much chance that online seed vending is going anywhere but into an area of growth.

Also wondering how he has such an inside scoop that noone else knows about???

is this a surprise to anyone? i don't think you'll be able to recieve seeds in the usa for much longer either, but i've thought that for awhile now.

only because eventually i think it will be to much of a risk for peeps over seas to send into the states...but that doesn't stop friends trading seeds or clones locally.

if you know them certain strains that you always thought were must haves i'd get them while you can....even if nothing does happen atleast you'll still have the strains u always wanted.

That's pretty well rounded for sativas and indicas. That's how I thought about it when I bought seeds. Luckily it's been expanded with a little help from my friends and I have some things I would never had tried. Which is really fun.

So even if the " biz" goes away, there are still friends.

And the only site I know of independent of seed sellers is PG. And that is only through the extraordinary generosity of Gadabout who foots the bill. Otherwise, who is going to pay for the bandwidth and maintainance? This is a pretty nice site and at one point I believe Gypsy asked for donations. I imagine it costs a pretty penny to run for free.
