DIESEL GENERATOR, (as your primary power source)

They have generators now you can use veggie oil from the store. And Motor oil when you change your oil.

Any Compression fired Engine...will run on Veggie Oil...the First Diesel engines ran on Peanut Oil
the one i saw runs 2 gals of veg oil for 24 hours. not bad at all for 6kw
Can U please show me ANY generator that makes 6Kw on 2gallons of ANY fuel for 24 hours
Our Genny a 4500 watt Model burns 1Gallon of fuel every 6 Hours @ 1/2 load
WOODGAS.....
That is our future here

QUOTE=SYK Agreed - who posts that on the internet.

Lets do some fantasy math.
Good idea lets do some fantasy math
Say a pound per light in an 8 week period. This means NO veg time.

48lbs / 8 weeks = 6lbs per week or 24lbs per month.
Double these numbers! if your running a 48k genny set-up you are probably aware that its better to run the generator 24/7 and have a flip-flop so you can have twice as much production.
Even at the HIGH end for medicine, $5K per pound ....
Medicine ...Right...lol
We are looking at much closer to $150,00 a month (or less) with everything running tits.
Gets you between 200k and 400k, much closer to 200k but the original numbers weren't completely out of line... for fantasy math.
Then you have the operating costs involved with such an operation.

This is why I said you may want to recheck your math.

I agree that a 48KW grow would cost between $150-$200K in investment to build out and be done correctly.

...maintenance on 48KW worth of generators would be a bitch. That would be prob 2 gennys with both needing over a gallon of oil to be changed in each one of them at least every 2 weeks.
Only one generator needed for 48k, only reason for two would be one as a backup I guess. 48k diesel generator is small.
...then if you want to run dirty biodiesel, plan to change your oil filters/oil even more frequently.
bio-diesel is burns much cleaner than dino-diesel, and is better for the engine. Only reason you would need to change filters more frequently would be if you used straight diesel prior to running bio-diesel as bio-diesel will clean your entire fuel system of the dirt and grime left behind from dino-diesel.
My suggestion would be to look to the Power Company for assistance in getting this much power (if that is truly what you need and you are seriously going to move forward), and have a good story for legitimate use of large amounts of electricity.
The whole point of using a generator is to NOT involve the power company.
AG Power comes to mind. It takes a LOT of electricity to pump water around a huge farm, and AG power is cheaper than residential power as well. + you have lots of land around your op :)

Hope It Helps

You guys need to get with the times its all about Portable Nuclear Fusion Reactors.. well that doesn't exist yet but there are alternatives that might be available in the near future.

"The Santa Fe Reporter has up an article about a portable nuclear reactor, about the size of a hot tub. Despite it's 'small' size the company that is planning to develop the product (Hyperion Power Generation), claims it could power up to 25,000 homes. 'Though it would produce 27 megawatts worth of thermal energy, Hyperion doesn't like to think of its product as a reactor. It's self-contained, involves no moving parts and, therefore, doesn't require a human operator. "In fact, we prefer to call it a 'drive' or a 'battery' or a 'module' in that it's so safe," Hyperion spokeswoman Deborah Blackwell says. "Like you don't open a double-A battery, you just plug [the reactor] in and it does its chemical thing inside of it. You don't ever open it or mess with it."' If all goes according to plan, Hyperion could have a factory in New Mexico by late 2012, and begin producing 4,000 of these reactors."

lol for the time being get yourself a nice warehouse :)

I bet they would be spendy.. but 27 mega watts... now were talking lol.. you could run an entire neighborhood of grow houses and not even put a load on the NUCULAR REACTOR!! I have a feeling this is farther off than LED lighting...

Hard to say, probably to good to be true though and definitely not something that the government would want people having in there backyards. It really baffles me how someone would run 100kw off of a diesel generator you'd be filling your 1000 gallon tank every couple days, don't you need a special license to travel with that much fuel? I can just picture it.. "guy on way to dangerous grow op with 1000 gallon fuel tank towed behind his truck gets in accident and blows up entire neighborhood, it was said he was reaching down to take a sip of his black strap molasses that friends and family claim he took for health reasons".

Double these numbers! if your running a 48k genny set-up you are probably aware that its better to run the generator 24/7 and have a flip-flop so you can have twice as much production.

Yer right - my bad. I was stoned on BHO and wasnt thinking that gennys are run 24/7 (I'm a PoCo guy)

Gets you between 200k and 400k, much closer to 200k but the original numbers weren't completely out of line... for fantasy math.

Ok then, I concede. Closer to 200K, but no where near $400K ... even in fantasy math.

The whole point of using a generator is to NOT involve the power company.

So you'd rather trust the guy at the gas station when you are purchasing 6gal an hour+, paying cash, then needing to transport and store 500+ gal at a time.

That and only in the most rural of lands can you run a generator 24/7 and get away with it.

I'd also like to point out (as I am sure you already know but for everyone else) that a 48KW LIGHT grow requires at LEAST a 60KW (IMO) genny as there is the overhead for pumps, fans, heat or ac, etc to account for, as well -most gennies are not made to run at FULL capacity 24/7/365.

I'd still rather come up with a legitimate business reason for requiring that much power (there are many, use Google) and working with the Power Company.

Just my personal opinion based on my personal research.

Dam right its suspicious buying that much fuel, shit it would probably be easier to just haul up all your stuff which could happen even running a generator, save the trips that you would of been getting fuel, for the times you gotta haul ass and get those plants out. Those numbers are very inflated unless your in New York, if your in BC expect to only get 2200-2400 lb for Indoor of the very best pot and sorry to say but in bulk prices go down so those numbers could be lower and since pot is like fashion that 100 lbs of Hashplant might not even sell, sorry bro your gonna have to pull your wieght with Purple Kush.

... and here I was saving up for my Anti-Mater Energy Generation Machine ... Bob Lazar says they work wonders  ... OK ... Back on Topic ....

Yer right - those numbers are FAR inflated for dealing in bulk (I'm Guessing) .... That is why I called it 'fantasy math' and why I initially said that I didnt think those numbers were realistic.

The sheer work alone to process $400K worth of meds in a month period ... even with Automatic Trimmer Machines (think Centurion) and a crew of guys ... would be MASSIVE.

... again, just my personal opinion - take it for what internet babble is worth to you.

I think it would be safe to say that alot of the indoor grow operations are small but the sheer number of them adds up, there looking for quality not quantity they already have that, if you got a 1000 people producing a couple lbs ever couple months of much better quality than what you could produce commercially on a large scale it puts you out of business or drops your prices, you need scarcity and unless your in a state that has that than your gonna be competing with everybody else to produce the best.

In Texas, you could sale up to 5lbs at a time for $5200/lb, if it is quality, homegrown. Our power here is also much cheaper; my normal rate is .0322 cents/KWH.

possession in Texas
1 to 5 lbs 180 days to 2 years $10,000 Fine
5 to 50 lbs 2 to 10 years and a $10,000 Fine
more if its for sale

I personally prefer the no jail time and slap on the wrist at $2400lb, you sleep better at night. Around here people get busted for 100kw grows and are back growing in a week somewhere else. Id rather it be legal though, prices are just a number to me nothing more, they gotta stop putting people in jail over a harmless plant.

can anyone give me an idea if its realistic to run a say... 15kw (or even 10kw??) deisel genny in a residental neighborbood? i mean, realistically, could you place it in a shed and soundproof it to the best of your abilities and run the thing 24/7 without your neighbors 15 feet away wondering what the hell that noise is?

Dr420CloneX

Very thourough info on generators. I was thinking about getting one but not sure what the cost ratio would be to have my whole home soley ran on a generator and 3 5,000 dolla solar panels vs an electric bill of around 500 a month. any suggestions guys? excellent thread by the way

Fact.. i think the idea would be NOT to have neighbors 15 feet away.. shit my closest neighbors are over a quater mile away...

lol christen yah i was more just trying to get an idea for how loud they are than actually serious about throwing one in a shed in the suburbs. thatd be crazy.

The BEST IMO 24/7 Gennys .... are made from MQ Power

www.mqpower.com

The WhisperWatt Series is what most people on here would most likely use.

These Generators come "Skid Mounted" - so you will need a trailer for them as well if you want to move them.

They are NOT expensive for what they do. You are looking at about $25K for 50KW worth of power.

Good Luck

ya ive been looking and what ive been seeing is like 12hr continous use stuff like that ( such as this one http://www.emergencypower.com/Silent-Diesel-Generator-EDG6000S.html) So does could this run 24/7

I would not recommend that unit due to 3600 rpm engine speed. Dont cut corners on your energy source. look into the mqpower whisperwatt, you wont be disappointed. If price is a concern look into a used unit, these things can last for decades with the right maintenance.
