Build a wood fence around them and cover it with shade cloth. Make a secure locked gate. If they can find a reason to bother you , tell them it's a green house.
They bust those ALL the time out newberry way.
Do what you want, but berdoo county is about as conservative as it comes. The sheriff will fuck with you if you ain't in permitted greenhouse, and usually just before harvest. After you spent $$

i don't mean to hijack your thread OP but i didn't wanna start a new one as my questions are somewhat related. i'm gonna do an 18 plant outdoor grow this year in LA county in the santa clarita area. it's technically not the true desert out here. more of an intergrade zone in the foothills between the coastal/inland valley areas south of the mojave but it's still hot and dry with average summer highs in the mid 90's.

we get A LOT of wind out here, strong westerlies and the dry offshore santa ana winds as well. i'm more worried about this stressing out plants than the heat.

how tall should i build a privacy type fence around my grow area? do you think 8 feet or so would be enough to keep most of the strong wind out without blocking the sun?

also do you think it's necessary to build a shade cloth cover over the top? i just want the best quality bud and i don't know if a well acclimated plant in a buried pot or straight in a hole would tolerate the strong midday sun or not.

If your summer highs are mid 90s youre going to want some of that wind. Plus more wind the more the smell will move away. Hanging 2 80% shade cloths about two or three feet apart will give you a breeze and some privacy. I'm talking vertically.
Overhead I wouldn't do more than 20% in the summer and pull it back in the fall/winter.

Guys instead of burying the pots what about going straight into ground, 4ft down maybe?? Avacado leaf mulch?? maybe dead fish at the bottom of each hole

Don't think that deep will do you any good. Have read that there is not much oxygen below 24 inches.

I'm growing in 3 counties in socal right now and SB is the worst. I did outdoor there this year, but it was a hassle. Next year I'm renting greenhouses in SB probably instead. If you can fight the elements the sun is a beast out there and except for my northern lights the plants love it.

I'm sure it depends where you're at but until you've seen what 45 mph winds do to your beautifully vegged plants, you haven't grown in the desert yet.

ChingonLSU I just go my caregivers License with heightened plant count 100:party:, now i just need to run that 100 strong outdoors, in your opinion which county works best for that sorta situation 100 outdoor:rtfo:

MM, shade shade shade, but SB is off the table bredren. That place is cursed with military installations and more federally operated land to feel the comforts of Medical California. If you are an out stater mingle in the grow shop with the employees, they probably know the environment and will more than likely have a configuration of products to pull through.

Some advice, start and maintain non canna crops, once you've covered them observe if they bring unwanted attention: Choppers , rabbits neighbors the usual subjects ya know. If you confident of your stealth apparatus then go for it. But if THEY come for you don't think for a second that medical will save you in San Bernardino county take that as gospel. Sun =free light so your on the paths we all aspire to at least me anyway. Good luck that place scares the shit out of me. I'd do az over sbco, much more tree covert

Well, maybe let's back up a minute. Not many people have love for SB county growing for good cause, but it is also the largest county in the USA (or at least was at some point in recent history), where in the county is more important than the county and that goes for any here in socal. I've got a great spot in SB and know the only 2 LEO'S that work my area, my neighbors are 70+yo and have been growing here for 30 years before I got here and I hook them up with genetics and process for them and they watch my place like a hawk for me when im not there. My property there is on a dirt road and has zero traffic. It's perfect in many regards and more profitable than my indoor grow in San Diego county.

The spot you have in mind is likely the more important factor than county. With our seasons here in socal, a light dep greenhouse would be something to strongly consider.

Below the sand/dirt/loam there is usually hard pan. I think it is mostly calcium though they revoked my geologist licensce last month. It won't let you water drain kills roots and is an all around pain in the ass.

Keep it a bit under 100. These nice pigies they like to write you up just enough for federal charges. They just charged my buddy with cut whole plants and live ones, so like Mojave said these cops don't fuck around.

Call the water guy in unincorporated desert and try to get a tank refill around august. It isn't near as bad as you guys make it sound. It becomes civil in violation if you have your rec and keep within your plant numbers.

Keeping it out of the neighbor's faces helps too.

So i have expanded my search to include, Riverside County, Palm Springs county & possibly Kern

Riverside county is friendly, I find commercial space willing to rent for grows with more ease than other counties. LEO has been cool with me here when pulled over with hundreds of clones. CHP has been cool here too.

I am pretty sure that the cultivation recs.have been fazed out. I believe the limit is 100 Sq ft. in California, and you have to prove that your condition needs that quantity of meds. not sure exactly, Mojave will probably have more knowledge than me. I know people who have been popped stealing power and got house arrest and probation, they just want a huge fine. I heard something about Adelanto approval for commercial grow. I don't have any idea how that's working.
