Yeah right - so if your next president is called Mr Chess - then the whole world has to change the name of the game?

The game of 'Trumps' was here before Trump - and it will surely be here after he is long gone -

The English word trump derives from trionfi, a type of 15th-century Italian playing cards, from the Latin triumphus "triumph, victory procession", ultimately (via Etruscan) from Greek θρίαμβος, the term for a hymn to Dionysus sung in processions in his honour.

Trionfi was the 15th-century card game for which tarot cards were designed. Trionfi were a fifth suit in the card game which acted as permanent trumps. Still in the 15th century, the French game triomphe (Spanish triunfo) used four suits one of which was randomly selected as trumps. It was this game that became extremely popular in Western Europe in the 16th century and is ancestral to many modern card games.

The English word is first documented in 1529 as the name of a card game which would develop into Ruff and Honours and ultimately Whist.

In German, the term is attested as Triumph in 1541; the modern German spelling Trumpf is recorded from 1590. In French, triomphe remained the name of the game, while the trump suit was called atout, from à tout (as it were "all-in"). Some European languages (Hungarian, Greek) adopted the French term. Russian козырь kozyr' is of unknown etymology, possibly a loan from a Turkic source. Polish variously uses atut, trumf and kozer adopted from the French, German and Russian respectively.

The Trump family 'made up' their name as Trump, which was Drumpf when they came from Germany.
They say it was to 'americanize' the sound but they probably chose the name Trump because of it's meaning, i'm guessing.... i mean they could have chosen something else like 'Dump' but they went with 'Trump' :biglaugh:

Hello all,

Just a observation....

The State news network (aka Fox News) is desperately trying to spin the narrative that Mueller is bad and conald is being picked on....

Scared? they sound scared.

That is all, carry on.

Like Pence in the infamous Pelosi-Schumer-Trump-Pence meeting.

A 24-7 video feed of Trump's office and his staff's office would be way more entertaining than his Twitter ramblings.

Mr D

Ed Butowsky contacted Sy Hersh to discuss Julian Assange and the leaked emails to Wikileaks.

Butowsky told Hersh the leak was from the inside.
Ed Butowsky later leaked the audio of their phone call and it was posted up on Youtube.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_VaQcglmZvY

Hersh told Ed Butowsky the Russian witch hunt was started by CIA Director John Brennan and it was an American disinformation operation.

Seymour Hersch: Look, I’m going to tell you something and you’re just going to have to trust me. I have, what they call in my business ‘long form journalism’ a narrative on how that whole f*cking thing began. It was a Brennan Operation, it was an American disinformation and the f*cking president, at one point they even started telling the press, they were back-beating the press, the head of the NSA was going and telling the press, the f*cking cocksucker Rogers was telling the press that we even know who in the Russian intelligence service leaked it. It was all bullsh*t. They were telling the, I worked at The New York Times for years and some of The New York Times they have smart guys but they are beholden on sources… Trump’s not wrong to say they all f*cking lied about him.
