DEA licenses 55 unnamed Big Pharma pot farms

this is great, if the DEA really did license these companies, they can't ban a substance for having no medical value while licensing its use to pharmaceutical companies, that is just way to obvious of an abuse of power. (obvious to those who's minds aren't full of shit on the matter, which is many people) We are tired of having our God given rights stolen from us, just so a select few can sell it back to us, fuck that.

If this is real, they need to hear this from all of us

btw, here's a link to the original east bay express article

...great shit always coming out of the bay area.

i cant believe you think its a good analogy to compare growing Opium vs. Cannabis for their medicinal properties.

one is highly addictive with a low LD 50 while the other is fairly harmless, not addictive and doesnt have a determined LD 50.

good comparison bro.
Any drug can be abused. People have used opium for centuries for various medical ailments without becoming hopeless addicts. I think the analogy is valid in that governments and companies have a monopoly on something that people could easily produce themselves. If you grow it at home, you are demonized, if you buy it from the pharmacy you're a red blooded american.

funny, that's exactly what they're doing, MJ is against federal law, so they can prosecute at will
we're seeing cracks in the dam because these exceptions are politically(read that as money) driven
i really hope this action will get brought up in the court system
at some point, the flagrant misuse of this law may finally turn some federal court's stomach enough to issue a rational decision

i agree but the reason i dont like the analogy is b/c opium can cause someone to become hoplessly addicted even when used medicinally whereas this is not possible with Cannabis, whether used medicinally or for recreation.

Does that mean you believe the story?
Of course big biz, big unions, or anything else with money, like big Pharma, and a reason to influence the government and laws will try. As long as you can grow your own, do you really care? Lets get everyone to admit Cannabis can help patients, products legal like SATIVEX should help in this effort.

I wish more people really thought this way. This is where we should hope to be in a few years.

Sam, didn't I read somewhere that you were involved in the development of sativex? Maybe that was something else... Either way, don't you think that these 55 companies are just waiting for an OK so they can get in on the boom if there is a reschedule? Is that not why these companies have the cannabis listing? And even now, just because we are told "they don't necessarily produce mj, they never said that they don't, right? If Sativex, or any other med derived from natural mj comes to the US do you think it won't be produced here? That is a silly asumption don't you think? approved medicine = rescheduled = a brand new world, right?

BOGUS story like Sam said. Marinol's patent expires and 55 'companies' would like to make their own generic substitute...that is all.

UPDATE:
Paul Armentano confirms that the author of the quoted East Bay Express piece has jumped the gun with this pronouncement. There may be 55 companies that want to produce the generic Marinol using naturally-extracted THC, but that would still have to come from Dr. El Sohly’s farm at U. Miss. See the comments section for more explanation. I apologize for the mis-hype.

Remember the saying, “It’s not paranoia if they’re really out to get you?” Well, is a conspiracy theory about Big Pharma takeover of medical marijuana still a conspiracy when you have evidence?

Hey guys DEA has adds in newspapers looking for botanist with AG consulting experience? My partner tried to show me the add but I didnt read it. Hopefully he believes that my team of farmers and scientist will provide a better career!
