Hey all! Been a while since I been on the forum scene. Grew as a hobby about 10 years ago when I was young and dumb. Picked it back up because I realized even now 10 years later I'm still young and dumb!

Anyways onto the search for the holy grail. But first some backstory...
When I got back into growing about a year ago, I stumbled onto some really special strains in my research. They are strains that are known for having mutated leaf types. They are:
Freakshow, ABC, and Ducksfoot.

Over the years, the canna community has worked these strains a bit more, improving on the originial low-THC varieties. Fortunately for me, I got back into growing at the perfect time (seed availability) to be able to acquire these genetics, which others have graciously worked with to improve. Back in the day I had heard of the Ducksfoot strain but it was incredibly difficult to attain because of the way customs was back then. Flash forward to today and these are the strains which I have the true joy and pleasure of working with:

Supafreak (Freakshow BX6) by Humboldt Seed Company- I have 2 females, 1 male, and 17 seeds left if I need them. I prize my male because he showed sex first of the 3.
Drunken Bastard F3 by 7 East Genetics - I have 4 seedlings currently going, with 20 more seeds (this is ABC strain with purple flowers and 21-26% THC)
BerryFreak F3 By CannaResearchCo - I was fortunate to get this female out of 12 seeds she was the only one who germinated. Don't have any seeds left for this strain.
Duckweb IBL by Olympic Seeds - I have 4 seedlings and 8 more seeds to sprout if I need
Imperium X (fem) by Anesia Seeds - 1 female I kept out of the 5 seeds I started. Never had a purple strain before her and she's absolutely beautiful to grow.
GTR by Aficionado French Connection - I have 2 females, 1 leaning towards G6 Jet-fuel mom and the other seems to imitate the father. I also have 9 more seeds to sprout if I need to.
Blueberry Muffin F9 by Humboldt Seed Company - I have 3 regular seedlings and a mutant. The mutant does seem to be growing so I may have gotten lucky and gotten something interesting to work with! Hopefully it turns out male.

Onto the purpose of this thread: I made this thread so I have a place to show the world what I'm working on, and collaborate with other breeders. I am interested in possibly chucking pollen on some of my girls if there are requests for it. I have thrown around the idea of creating a blog website and going that route but I have a feeling I will connect with more people this way. As a side note, whenever I talk about breeding strains together, I will ALWAYS put the male in the first place. I'm not being sexist or anything that's just the way I've decided to do it.

For example... ( Drunken Bastard F3 male x BerryFreak F3 female ) x ( Supafreak BX6 male x Drunken Bastard F3 female ) .... might be shortened to look something like this....
(DB/BF) x (SF/DB). I used this as an example because this is the cross I intend to make. I will then take the F1 seeds and select the perfect pair to breed together to create F2s. In theory, because both leaf-traits are recessive, there is a possibility that the mutations combine to form a different, new leaf mutation. This is assuming that both recessive traits can coexist. From what I've read the Ducksfoot lineage does not combine with ABC, so that's not really encouraging. Either way, there should be mutant offspring in the F2 generation that are both ABC-pheno or BF-pheno, and the rare chance they combine for something new. In theory one out of every 16 F2 seeds sprouted should show something strange. Assuming one strain doesn't assert complete dominance. In the F2 generation I'm looking for a female from ABC and BF which both show purple flowers and have ideal growth patterns. Blueberry terps, good THC, calyx ratio, yield, pest resist, yada yada. Of course I'm looking for the holy grail of both sides of the cross.

(DB/BF) - I will select the best Drunken Bastard male I can grow. Honestly I may only have 1 or 2 to work with for now though due to it's insanely long germ/growth rates. Either way, the short stout nature Bastard will get crossed to my BerryFreak female. She seems to grow quite apical. When topped she does form side branching but once those grow out it still continues to grow apical-style. I think the blend of these two will produce a good father plant for the F2 seeds. I'm looking for a male with purple coloring on his big resinous pollen sacs before he drops, and the most important thing I think will be an apical style growth pattern.

(SF/DB) - Fingers crossed that 1/4 of the DB seeds I sprouted is a purple-pheno female like advertised on their site. If not I will have to continue the search and take much much longer to find the purple female needed in this cross. Even if I get a purple male I'm not entirely sure he will pass that trait on, but if I find a female I will know for sure 100% that the purple alleles are in the genome pool. My SF male grows compact and short, with really small leaves for a Freakshow plant. I selected this one because he showed his sex before the ladies did, and apparently this new Supafreak has a flowering time of only 40 days. I hope my male passes on genetics for faster flowering, mostly. The select mother plant for F2s will be purple and fast flowering. Those are the only 2 criteria I want from the female side. If yield, structure, and all the other good traits come along too then even better.

I have several other crosses I would like to make, but that one will take priority over the others. At least for the time being. I may change my mind in the future depending how much I like the strains I'm working with now. For the record, I have not had the joy of tasting blueberry bud in almost 20 years so I'm pretty excited for Blueberry Muffin. I've never really been able to enjoy a true sour diesel strain either, so I'm excited for GTR. Additionally, I've never sampled mutant weed before so I'm super super excited for my Freakshow plants.

Anyways, onto the plant porn for everyone to enjoy!😁

Pulling up a chair. Very nice pics, and really fun lineup. It's so cool to see a big canopy of the Freakshow as there have been precious few on the forums. I'm always interested in unusual plants and these are definitely them. :)

We are on a similar path...I just scored a couple of packs of Freakshow and a pack of Berryfreak. I popped two Freakshow beans so far and they are still tiny but already showing ruffles. Such cool genetics and I am really hoping for a male.

My idea for crosses would be with Mexican lines or Peyote Purple. I think either of those could be fascinating. But, for now I just want to get my freak on...

Supafreak! Excellent, I think this is the first grow I see of it.

Really interesting strain because of the Freakshow stealth look along with the faster flowering time that makes it possible to grow in more places.

Some updates:
Got some kind of mites in my plants which seem to be handling it decently so far.

Oddly enough, they’ve stayed completely free from all of the Freakshow plants. Imperium X, Duckweb, Blueberry Muffin, and GTR all have them though.

The GTR and IX in flower both have them all over but honestly from what I see day to day it seems like the weeds are trying to grow like weeds. Imagine that! I bought a couple of different organic products to use but I’m hesitant to use anything on a flowering plant. The little buggers don’t seem to be doing massive damage, yet. And they’ve been here for at least a couple weeks now. I hope I can get these plants through flower and then I can sterilize everything and eradicate the little heathens!

Oh and I also read on Reddit that some have gotten non-purple ABC-phenos of Drunken Bastard. I’m relying quite a bit on this strain to have that trait so I germinated another 10 seeds. So far I have 10 healthy seedlings and one that’s iffy. Between 10 seedlings, I hope to get a male and female with the purple traits.

Those Freakshows are very interesting indeed. Are you getting any aromas yet?

Oh yeah!! My Supafreak male (in veg) is pretty skunky. Both the females in flower have very strong aromas! The one in the back has a real fruity vibe to it with very little funk. It's all fruity. It's also the tallest of the three. The other Supafreak female has a slight floral note to it, but it's mostly skunky. It's also the shortest of the 3, and looking at the pistils forming, looks like it's going to be the heaviest yielding. Time will tell. The BerryFreak girl smells EXACTLY like berries. I have another strain which tastes like berries and I'm thinking my BerryFreak is going to make the previous one look weak.

As far as the mites go, they don't seem to be doing too much damage. I don't believe they're actually eating my leaves unless it's happening on a microscopic scale. Everything seems to be growing so I'm just biding my time unless my flower girls are ready to pluck, then I'll go on extermination rampage!

Here’s my Drunken Bastard seedlings. So cool!

Awesome! Just curious, did you go with ABC from 7 East or did you go with another breeder? From what I can find, there's about 4-5 different sources for ABC, and they all seem to be a little bit different from each other. The reason I went with Drunken Bastard F3 is due to the amount of work that went into making the strain more potent. Typically most ABC lines are around 8-11% THC and are fairly mild in effect. The Drunken Bastard they claim gets up to 21-26%, so I went with that. Not to mention purple flowers 😎

I went with the Inbred Line 7 from Gnome Automatics. No idea how these will be but the pics look interesting. THC is not everything so I'm not too concerned about potency.

I hear you there. Looks like you misread the title. I did the same thing when I first visited that page. If you look closely it's ABC Inbred Line 7 seeds, but that's ok! It does look like it has quite a unique structure compared to other ABC out there. I hope you enjoy them! I'm really starting to get fond of my little Bastards! 😈

Anyways, onto the updates!

Recently I purchased 2 landrace sativas to add to my collection. I'm pretty excited to work with both. The first is a Malawi Gold which is known to have high THC-V and CBG, as well as being super potent and some other cool traits like red stems and petioles. The second is a landrace from the Philippines. It has 6 different phenos and they say they're all unique with that classic sativa high. Both strains are capable of having purple flowers, and I'm hoping I can find some real keepers from each group and make F2 seeds, as well as outcrossing to my Supafreak and Drunken Bastard. I don't know why I've picked up this obsession with purple flowers. *shrugs* My Imperium X in flower has me thirsty for more purple buds! I keep telling myself, no you already have 50+ solid strains to work with, but there's a few strains which have still caught my attention!

Back from the future wonder that are my breeding plans, we're moving along nicely here in the present. Currently on Day 34 of the flowering cycle. I did have a few male flowers release pollen off the GTR because the zipper for my grow tent must have had a pinhole of light shine through between both zipper pieces. Could not find any anywhere else which is awesome. It's too bad I didn't catch it in time because I would have tossed the fem pollen on the Imperium X on a single branch. Oh well, I'll make seeds the right way on the next flower cycle. From here on out, it's likely that each run I do will be seeded.

Anyways, bud porn now!

It looks to me like the Supafreak in the back on the left might be a faster flowering girl like they advertise. The harvest date for the 2 Supafreaks (far left) is supposed to be the 18th. The one in the back maybe, but definitely not the front one. It doesn't have a single orange pistil on it yet. Oddly enough, it seems like the BerryFreak is coming along pretty well for being a 11-12 week strain. I'm thinking it's going to get culled long before it gets to that stage. All 3 Freakshow-style plants are starting to lean under the weight of the buds forming. The BerryFreak look surprisingly dense for a mutant. I've felt some of the greasy sticky resin from a fan leaf and let me tell you I'm downright excited to try her! And my Imperium X is starting to stack those nice purple calyxes pretty hard. And finally the GTR on the right with some serious funk like acrid acidic fuel notes.

Here's the Veg babies (most got topped and starting to take off):

Last but certainly not least we have the cute little Bastards 😈

Update time! Day 43 into flowering. Looks like about 3-4 weeks and they'll be ready to chop! They're starting to plump up real real nice. THC levels are much higher than my previous runs. Looks like my UV-A and IR LED lights are doing their thing.

Bad news, somehow my GTR (Sour diesel) threw a few nanners last week. It looks like they tagged all the ladies in there, but fortunately it doesn't look like a lot of seeds. I see one here and there. Still makes me mad enough though where I don't want to work with the strain anymore, no matter how good it is. As a new aspiring breeder I do not want to use these kinds of genetics in my crosses until I have a lot more experience.

Anyways, onto the bud porn!

Decided to show a pic of just the Duckweb. I'm starting to become quite fond of them. They do have quite the strong aroma to them even in veg here. They also have really dark leaves. Seems like a traditional indica to me, even though it's an IBL.

Drunken babies (lol):

Really hoping the plant in the lower right hand corner is a male. If it is a male, it's going to mingle with my BerryFreak lady! That one seems to be the most vigorous of the bunch. When it was just a tiny seedling, it actually broke free from the seed way before it was ready. I also ripped a whole cotyledon off accidently before it even started throwing out the first set of true leaves. So this little guy grew from really tough conditions, and it seems to be growing faster than all the others! I named it Rocky. If it does turn out to be male, awesome. If it turns out female, hopefully it should be a good one with how vigorous it is.

Really nice progress on everything. How are the aromas on the Freakshows? They look to be covered in trichomes on many of the leaves too.

Thanks! They're coming along nicely 🤗 The aromas are exactly as described on the website. The 2 phenos I have are very similar in terms of aroma. It's fruity smelling, with a slight hint of chem/skunk in there but very subtle. The BerryFreak on the other hand smells exactly like berries. For some odd reason even though they both smell really good, the BerryFreak seems to be a bit louder. The leaves are completely coated with trichomes on all 3 freaks. Soooo excited to sample these in about a month!

Day 48 updates... things are coming along as well as I could hope.
This time, I'll go over the veg babies before the flowering girls, since there's more change here.
In the veg tent I made some changes:
+12 Supafreak seedlings
-2 GTR plants
-2 BerryFreak clones
-3 Imperium X clones

The reasons are:
- GTR shows intersex tendencies. Removed immediately. Can't have this crap in my garden no matter how hype or fire it is.
- BerryFreak I still have 2 clones remaining. 1 of them was an experiment. I cut off every single fan leaf except for the tops to see if the lateral branching could be encouraged. My BerryFreak likes to grow with an apical nature with medium internode distance. So far, it looks incredibly high yielding compared to it's Freakshow counterparts. Like....BerryFreak is going to outweigh both of my Freakshows and they have about the same amount of room to work with.
- Imperium X - Still have 1 clone of her. Decided with the new additions I do not have the space for identical twins in my veg garden. BerryFreak is an exception because she's super special. The only reason I'm keeping Imperium X is that her effects are different from other strains. When they say in the description that they believe there's a high THC-P value I could believe them. The purple coloration is just a bonus. At some point I will integrate her genes into the mutant lines in the hopes of making a mutant with a much better effect than we have currently.
- Supafreak seedlings - This is purely a pheno hunt for a fast male and fast female. According to Supafreak's description they have stabilized early flowering into the Freakshow. Supafreak is supposed to finish at 40 days. I would like to find both a fast flowering male and female.

Here's the new seedlings (they may be hard to see but they're all doing well):
2.jpg
3.jpg

Here are the Drunken Bastard seedlings. Some are pulling ahead as clear winners for vitality.
4.jpg

Onto the flowering girls...
GTR has quit throwing nanners, as far as I can see. It looks like the girls are switching to their final leg of bud production before calling it quits. They're really starting to pack it on now, especially the GTR and BerryFreak. Pulled out a seed from a Freakshow bud I could see in the back.

Here's the GTR x Freakshow seed going. If it pops up and doesn't show the Freakshow leaves, I'm pitching it. I'm fairly sure it will look like a normal F1 would, but hey you never know. I heard a guy talking about an old school Sour Diesel female who would throw nanners here and there... well supposedly every now and then a male would come from these seeds! If it does sprout into freakshow leaves maybe it might have a sour diesel leaning pheno. Either way we'll see what happens!

1.jpg

And onto the flowers....

7.jpg

9.jpg

Here's a closeup (with my old iphone) of one of the best BerryFreak colas on the plant. The buds are really starting to lean hard with the weight they're putting on. I'm guessing each cola should be around 10g. Might be over exaggerating but this plant seems awesome. I'm humbled by her every time I see her. I can't wait to see how her genes show up in crosses. I'm excited to begin my journey as a breeder just because of this plant.
8.jpg

Freakshows only have 20 days or so left, so I'll start "finish" nutes on them tomorrow and after a week they'll switch to straight water for flushing. On day 65 they will be harvested. Then a week later I'll take Imperium X, and a week after that both GTR and BerryFreak will come down. Then the shenanigans for the next cycle will commence!

Here we are at Day 53! Veg babies first
12x Supafreak seedlings & 2x Quack Bastard F4 seedlings. To be honest I don't care about these except to find a fast flowering female. That's the only purpose of these babies. The Quack Bastard on the other hand I'm excited to see grow

Drunken Bastards desperately needed transplanted. Here they are after new digs.

All 3 freaks under the same tent now! Only 1 Blueberry Muffin and 1 Imperium X otherwise the rest are mutants.

And of course the flowering girls to drool over! Day 53.

BerryFreak is definitely a strain that needs staking to support her weight! I can't believe how heavy the front cola is that's almost 90 degrees bent. The GTR smells amazing, and I can't wait for harvest time! Hopefully the next few weeks are busy at work to keep me from drooling too much.
