I’ve been reading and educating myself as well in the difference (and grower perspective) of a landrace genepool vs a more worked hybrid but with landrace background.

My idea was to select bigger yields within a landrace pheno selection but I’m not sure that even happens in a landrace (having exceptional yields), from my personal experience seems like big yielding landrace derived cultivars have had a more compact “indica” structure put in.

I have only worked with some landraces not all of them. And seems like the inbreeding factor plays a big role when it’s coming from a open pollination population.

Absolutely. Cannabis in its feral state has no need to carry broccoli, any extra "yield" given by the plant is always and exclusively human selection.
Any landrace should be grown simply for its aesthetic appeal and chemotype when outside of its natural habitat, yield should be the last item on the hierarchy.

Part of the new chapter in cannabis should be education new generation of growers on the actual looks and overall organoleptic properties/characteristics of real landraces/heirlooms/feral cannabis.

I been on the transition from expectations to acknowledgement when it comes to breeding and using landraces to create new phenos.

Not even 3 months old and she's already giving me a headache, the lady wants to grow. She's showing signs of yellowing because her royal highness was displeased with the amounts of P in the feed. So now she's getting only N and K (she's already showing regretting EDIT: regreening this week). But, the good news is, she's started showing some trichomes on the main cola. It also looks like it inherited a more compact bud structure as it's less stretchy than the mother.

*edit: but also regretting, yes, regretting feeding her like the bagseed instead of like a tropical weed that loves to grow in the sand. My bad

I would like to open with a side note, hur hur
The picture below shows 3 different sets of leaves, what I find interesting about this picture is the fact that thrips ate the shit out of the bagseed (indoor variety obvy) while the "sativas" suffered less chewing from the bastards. Now, in their defense, I'm a cunt, because I let the little buggers thrive without pest control on my side because I wanted to see how much damage did they cause and if my strain had any resistance like the Naga has shown compared to the others.

Unfortunately the nuteburn was too heavy and she decided to abort the recovery following an accidental over watering on my side (my bad). Aside from all the trauma I'm putting her through she's a solid female that has, so far, shown no signs of hermaphroditism. The stem rub is woodsy, citrusy and on the high notes like a-pinene, however it doesn't decay into the typical Durban liquorice/aniseed (yet?) aroma, so I weigh in the option that the trait might not be transmissible in the male line. The buds are airy and small, but they stack nicely and there is a lot more resin production on the "sugar leaves" than on the original Jamaican mother line. And the aroma is out of this world mango madness, it smells like all kinds of mangoes I've tried in my life very high and sharp tones that are sweet never decay into candy aromas.

I don't think I'll ever manage to finish a run without some pest damage, not that I care, cause I'm the one smoking this, and tbh it mostly affects leaves touches barely ever the bud... However this did not stop her from stretching this far. You can see the damage that trying to fix your neglect with overcompensating will only turn against you. Don't feed too much P to your sativa in soil and definitely don't try to flush the nutes out because you feel guilty, just don't make it worse.

This is the main cola, I had started training it, but since I had her in the back I couldn't reach her until today that I harvested the bagseed.
This is also why I love equatorial thin leaflet cannabis, it just wants to grow.

She's been under 11/13 a couple weeks now. No sign of slowing down as now she's foxtailing like crazy. Never mind that she's survived a heavy thrips invasion as well as really bad watering schedules and feedings, she keeps going. 33cl beer can (empty) for scale.

Thanks and I would agree with you if I had the facility to carry out that sort of selection. This was just the first of the cross. I'll be putting up more seeds in the future which, hopefully will not herm at all. When it comes to these types of plants that are inconsistent with their hermaphroditic expression I have a 0 tolerance policy. If they herm they die. And if none survive I restart the project. (I'm stupid that way)
I'm forcing a binary sex selection because it's the best solution for the hobby grower with little space and lots of stressors for the plants.
The only time I would not mind keeping a hermed line would be if it was to preserve it, but this is just an F1 cross I can remake.
