I make seeds from all new varieties I obtain. When it comes to crossing my strains I am much more reserved. So far I have one unique variety from my efforts. It is an autoflowering landrace sativa. Celestial Temple Sativa x Lowryder. It is now F5 and a stable IBL. Created it because at the time there were few sativa dominant autoflowering strains and Lowryder was thought to need improvement by some. I think breeders need to think more clearly about their goals for breeding. Any fool can make a cross but so what? Why would I be interested in it? What makes you think it is better than anything else? Many crosses are unstable, unfinished breeding that is pawned off as something new without any proof it has superior characteristics. In order to use these crosses productively you should take clones of the best as you grow them out. I have no interest in clones personally so I have no interest in pollen chuckers seeds. Breeding is all about selection. Unstable crosses must be selected by cloning. Pollen chucking everything in sight will just give you a million unstable seeds. You will never have the time and space to get to bottom of it all. Crosses made with a vision or goal and time spent selecting only the best parents will lead to a more stable plant and eventually even an IBL. It takes time to get there and if you go chucking pollen about willy nilly you only delay your arrival.
