public funding isn't socialism lol. police are also 90% or more voters of trump and either espouse and/or are sympathetic to white nationalist causes. hence why the proud boys were routinely protected in protests.
democrats and republicans are both capitalist right wing parties. what's so hard to understand? neoliberalism is literally the repudiation of new deal fdr era politics when the mixed economy analogy was more applicable. currently we have far too much capitalism, hence why both parties are firmly on the right. democrats are essentially 1980's reagan era republicans who pretend to care about lgbt rights.

it would mean the propaganda they feed themselves with wouldn't be true, most egos can't handle that, especially in the current climate. democrats being leftists is a foundational understanding of the far right. take that away and just about everything falls apart.
