It's a Mammal in close contact with people.

That's not mis-information.

It doesn't mean the dog gets sick, just that it is infectious, like a stair railing (after someone infectious touches it) or the nipple/nozzle of a Hookah (part of Iran's C-Virus story).

California is going to get WHOMPED by the C-Virus, partially because they are heading towards another dreadful wildfire year. Which has already started. The 2 acre fire on San Bruno mountain is now an 8 acre fire !

I rode my bike up there a few times. It's one of the last wild areas between SF & San Mateo.

The combination of C-Virus & wildfire ... well maybe it'll take some of the air out of rental prices.

The SARS-CoV-2 virus is a betacoronavirus, like MERS-CoV and SARS-CoV. All three of these viruses have their origins in bats. The sequences from U.S. patients are similar to the one that China initially posted, suggesting a likely single, recent emergence of this virus from an animal reservoir.

My old wolfdawg used to ride in the back of my PU and when people would come up to meet him, he had a lick for everyone.

he caught a 24 hr flu once, so dawgs can catch flu. Poor guy was miserable with aches and pains, and the shits.

I think this will be affecting the sports world in a big way. Probably the IOC won't be a leader, but athletes and tourists will drop out.

Wonder how much the Dow will drop the day they cancel the Olympics ?

Assumed the Covid mortality would be 2.5%, than it is 25 times more deadly than the flu.
BUT it is even more deadly because it got a higher R0. The R0 of SARS-CoV-2 is higher than the R0 of the Spanish Flu, Ebola or MERS. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Basic_reproduction_number)
The usual flu just got a R0 of 1.3: range 0.9 to 2.1 and SARS-CoV-2 of 1.4 - 3.8 (Wikipedia) or may be even 1.4 - 6.48 (https://www.reddit.com/r/Coronavirus/comments/f8k2nj/why_sarscov2_is_not_just_the_flu_with_sources/), depending on the source.

This mean MUCH more people will get infected by SARS-CoV-2 than by the flu, what means Covid-19 will kill even more than 25 times more people, because much more people will get infected.

So all this 'it's just a flu' talk is nonsense. Covid-19 is much more dangerous than the flu.

German media just reported more than 100 infected in Germany. Also some in my area. But don't worry. Media say only the old people with pre-exsisting diseases would be endangered.

I just think of it as Herpes you can get from a handshake, the handle of a shopping cart. except instead of painful itchy watery blisters :woohoo:

it gives about 10% of patients serious pneumonia and about 1/3 of them die (stats from covid19info website.)

I thought "Viral Pneumonia" was a good Label for it.

I think the scientists will find out that it is freakishly buoyant, like a dust or smoke particle in the air. Which is part of how it spreads.

It really is a potent sort of "weapon". People can't see it, so they tend to ignore it.

I read that in Iran, people are going to some historical mosques to pray for health, in very crowded conditions on floors that are touched many times by many people.

You mean the Olympics that are supposed to happen near Fukushima? Who remembers that? I do, it was 6 yrs ago, and the Japs are about to dump all those flimsey tanks full of radiated water into the Pacific toilet. BTW, after that water passes over the AK crabs and salmon, it probably makes the rain Washington, Oregon, and the triangle gets.

One vid I saw said the little cielia (sp) hair tentacle things in your lungs, that normally move up flem and carry away contaminants - FUCKIN DIE AND FALL OFF. The chunks pile up in the bottom of the lungs and fluid tries to get rid of them, maybe too hard if re-infected. Probably don't want to get WuFlu, sounds worse than Vit E.

This isn't wuFlu, but it makes feel better about the 10,000 mg Vit C I am taking every day. The study has kids 1/3 to 1/2 my age so I had to up the dose.

SUBJECTS:
A total of 463 students ranging in age from 18 to 32 years made up the control group. A total of 252 students ranging in age from 18 to 30 years made up the experimental or test group.

METHOD:
Investigators tracked the number of reports of cold and flu symptoms among the 1991 test population of the facility compared with the reports of like symptoms among the 1990 control population. Those in the control population reporting symptoms were treated with pain relievers and decongestants, whereas those in the test population reporting symptoms were treated with hourly doses of 1000 mg of Vitamin C for the first 6 hours and then 3 times daily thereafter. Those not reporting symptoms in the test group were also administered 1000-mg doses 3 times daily.

RESULTS:
Overall, reported flu and cold symptoms in the test group decreased 85% compared with the control group after the administration of megadose Vitamin C.

CONCLUSION:
Vitamin C in megadoses administered before or after the appearance of cold and flu symptoms relieved and prevented the symptoms in the test population compared with the control group.
