(I'm not doubting you - I just want to know what your reasoning is.)
I can think of one reason - everybody is dependent on China for their manufacturing.
The 1918 flu didn't shut down manufacturing.
This virus is squirrelly, contagious as hell, and anti-bodies don't work.
i.e. people who have just had the virus are getting re-infected and then dying. So either their anti-bodies aren't working - which would indicate that a Vaccine won't work.
OR the virus mutated, and their second infection is with a different strain.
The scientist I trust is calling this a 100 year flu, i.e. comparable to 1918. (but not a flu)
I'm waiting for him to revise that, to 500 year flu.
I was just talking to a friend about it.
At this point it's a wise move to stock up on just about everything, but especially medications, since they're also mostly made in China.
Also, even medications made in India or Mexico - they buy precursors from China.
I wouldn't be surprised to see China recovered in 6 months, and the US is where China is now. Because China is doing the quarantine and the US isn't.
You guys getcha some LDM-100, it may actually work.
As for the people waking up and noticing things they buy are getting kinda scarce, and maybe they better stock up before it's too late... I made another run this evening and am still thinking of stuff I should have around. A whole WMT carries about enough TP for maybe 10 families to last 3 months. People haven't been paying attention to the crisis in Venezuela and other supply shortages. Wait till it hits here. You won't want to be anywhere near a city. Or my place.
Like the filters the heat/AC use. Changes of oil/filter for the truck and grass mower.
As for the people waking up and noticing things they buy are getting kinda scarce, and maybe they better stock up before it's too late... I made another run this evening and am still thinking of stuff I should have around. A whole WMT carries about enough TP for maybe 10 families to last 3 months. I think it's on par with the 1918 flu ,the world is different. People are even stupider...besides the 1st world countries most others might as well be living in 1918 with a much larger population...the supply shortage to follow will mean massive famines and chaos in the 3rd world and developing countries.not to mention all the secondary diseases from just the sheer numbers of rotting bodies that surely will happen in the extreme poverty stricken areas.
Even with what the Chinese did and is doing, it had little effect to control it.

Any Caucasian, Hispanic, Negro healthy people die yet? Why has the news been so quiet all of a sudden about the regular flu season, which has keeled a bunch of people so they say.

In Italy there is currently a 38 years old in severe conditions. He was healthy, practiced sport and never flown to China. The virus is actually spreading between locals and I'm quite sure that the same is happening unknowingly around Europe as I'm writing this.
Haven't heard by others that Asian males are more vulnerable to this virus than Africans or Causicians or Hispanics.Children seems to be less vulnerable.
Btw perhaps its already going on in Africa without any proper testing.In Iran 5 people died and 18 new cases.

When I see this numbers I think it is questionable which countries will be more affected: Countries like Germany and Japan with modern health systems but very old societies or Africa, with nearly no health system but young populations.

Now those 14 are not going to Anniston, which it turns out is now the FEMA training center for ALL chem disaster and health emergency training. Imagine infecting the place where the responders come from?
