What might COVID cost the U.S.? Try $16 trillion
Apair of Harvard economists estimates that the coronavirus pandemic will cost the nation at least $16 trillion if it ends by next fall — timing they describe as “optimistic” — and say that a number that large justifies interventions such as a coordinated nationwide program of testing and contact tracing that would save 30 times its cost.

“It’s almost hard to understand what a number of that size means,” said David Cutler, the Otto Eckstein Professor of Applied Economics. “This is like a hurricane hitting the whole country.”

Unexplained Covid-19 cases prompt first lockdown in New Zealand since August
"We all get that sense of ‘Not again,'" Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern told a news conference.

WELLINGTON, New Zealand — New Zealand’s largest city of Auckland will go into a three-day lockdown beginning just before midnight Sunday following the discovery of three unexplained coronavirus cases in the community.

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern announced the move after an urgent meeting with other top lawmakers in the Cabinet. She said they decided to take a cautious approach until they find out more about the outbreak, including whether the infections are of the more contagious variants.

The lockdown is the first in New Zealand in six months and represents a significant setback in the nation’s largely successful efforts to control the virus. It will also force a delay in the America’s Cup sailing regatta.

Over and over again, the military has conducted dangerous biowarfare experiments on Americans

On September 20, 1950, a US Navy ship just off the coast of San Francisco used a giant hose to spray a cloud of microbes into the air and into the city's famous fog. The military was testing how a biological weapon attack would affect the 800,000 residents of the city.

North Korea attempted to hack Pfizer for coronavirus vaccine information: report

North Korean hackers tried breaking into the computer systems of pharmaceutical company Pfizer to access information on a coronavirus vaccine, according to a South Korean lawmaker and multiple reports.

Seoul's National Intelligence Service "briefed us that North Korea tried to obtain technology involving the Covid vaccine and treatment by using cyberwarfare to hack into Pfizer," said Parliament member Ha Tae-keung following a closed-door hearing, according to Agence France-Presse.

The U.S. State Department and Pfizer did not immediately respond to emails from Fox News.

India’s dramatic fall in virus cases leaves experts stumped

NEW DELHI (AP) — When the coronavirus pandemic took hold in India, there were fears it would sink the fragile health system of the world’s second-most populous country. Infections climbed dramatically for months and at one point India looked like it might overtake the United States as the country with the highest case toll.

But infections began to plummet in September, and now the country is reporting about 11,000 new cases a day, compared to a peak of nearly 100,000, leaving experts perplexed.

I have a friend in India who says their low rates are down to the borders being properly closed and everyone wearing masks
Compared to us in the uk, who (over a year later) have only just introduced quarantine for arrivals in the country.
Seems that all the countries who shut their borders to travel have done far better so far.

If you can believe the numbers, Vietnam is Killin it.

A recent outbreak from a Taiwanese visitor messed up their two month long winning streak against the virus.
