Do you know where the vast majority of infections come from?
I’ll give you a few clues...It’s not the bar, or the restaurant, or the church.
You guys run on about following the science and then you pay no attention to what the data tells us.

I'm still waiting for you to explain herd immunity from 3 days ago.
So please enlighten us.

I’m just a laymen but I’ll give it a shot...
The more people in the community who have antibodies for a virus.. the less the truly vulnerable people (old and infirm) are exposed to the virus...

That's true but getting there means a lot of people have to get the virus. My reading suggests 50 to 70 percent.
Our if 330 milion Americans that would be 200 million. Of only ten percent are hospitalized that's 20 million. Of those one percent will die....or more
That's 2 million dead.
We have 100,000 ICU beds in the USA.
That's a problem.
Without a vaccine herd immunity is not an option for most ethical decision makers.there's no real way to protect the most vulnerable in fact they will die first.

Ok, what if we tried..isolating only those who want to be isolated and are in a higher risk group.
If the bulk of those who are healthy and young get the antibodies all of those people could then interact with the quarantined folks...
The pool of people with antibodies grows and the amount of available hosts diminishes

Like I said I’m not that bright,
Mayb it’s far more complex than this,

Reports so far indicate the antibodies are good for 3-4 months, from my reading.

While the elderly and immune-compromised are the folks with the greatest risk of mortality, there have been healthy 20-year old persons who have died, or become VERY ill, and the effects of the Virus, in a substantial number of persons who have been ill, may last their lifetimes, as we are not confident in this yet.

My guess is that we may find that the vaccinations themselves need to be given on a more regular basis than the flu vaccines we commonly use.

Ya I read the 3-4 month thing.
Im hoping it’s not true (like the child super spreader thing... or spreading via contact with surfaces panic) ... because if it is... we will never be free of masks, or travel restrictions.
No one will ever see a concert again or go to a game.
My kid will spend the next ten years of schooling with a muzzle on 10 hours a day...
Anyway, I hope it doesn’t come to that but Im not optimistic..
What good is a vaccine if u need a booster of it every 2-3 months...
4-6 shots a year?
Sounds like a scam to me

With all viruses, the antibodies fade after a few months... it’s the memory T-cells that hang about.
Surely COVID shouldn’t be any different ?

On a darker note, there are more people in the uk in hospitals with COVID now than at the peak in April
And the nhs staff have not been prioritised for the vaccine.... meaning lots of nurses etc off sick.
They need to pull their fingers out of their ass and get on with it.

COVID-19 affects different people in different ways. Infected people have had a wide range of symptoms reported – from mild symptoms to severe illness.
Symptoms may appear 2-14 days after exposure to the virus. People with these symptoms may have COVID-19:
Fever or chills
Cough
Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
Fatigue
Muscle or body aches
Headache
New loss of taste or smell
Sore throat
Congestion or runny nose
Nausea or vomiting
Diarrhea
Look for emergency warning signs for COVID-19. If someone is showing any of these signs, seek emergency medical care immediately:
Trouble breathing
Persistent pain or pressure in the chest
New confusion
Inability to wake or stay awake
Bluish lips or face

WHO Chief Scientist Warns "No Evidence COVID Vaccine Prevents Viral Transmission"

Once again, the WHO has stepped in to offer some confusing comments about the coronavirus vaccine, warning that there is "no evidence to be confident shots prevent transmission" and that people who receive the vaccine should continue wearing masks and following all social distancing and travel guidelines.

The comments were made by WHO chief scientist Soumya Swaminathan during what appears to have been a virtual press conference held Monday.

A clip of the offending line has begun circulating on social media.

"At the moment, I don't believe we have the evidence on any of the vaccines, to be confident that it's going to prevent people from getting the infection and passing it on,"

Of course, a close look at the research released by Pfizer and Moderna shows the studies haven't actually tested whether the vaccines actually prevent transmission of the virus; the goal of the trials was to see whether vaccinated patients presented with COVID symptoms at a rate that was substantially less frequent than individuals who hadn't been vaccinated. That's pretty much it. Though the data might hint at lowering transmission rates, that's still tbd, apparently.

The doctor went on to explain that there's no evidence to suggest that those who have been vaccinated wouldn't be a risk if they traveled to a foreign country, say Australia, with relatively low COVID rates.

At this point, it might be helpful for the WHO to produce some kind of clarification that either offers substantially more context to explain this remark.

But we suspect they won't.

Why? Well, perhaps because that context might undermine certain government officials' insistence that there's absolutely no reason to question the efficacy, and potential side effects (both long-term, and short) tied to the new COVID-19 vaccines.
