Was checking out a wood heated hot tub the other day at a guys place, seemed ideal because you wouldn’t have to run electric to it, simpler design.
Had to fire it up several hours before using it, but other than that, no electric bill, just need a wood supply.

I've seen several versions of these up here, including most that were made from larger Rubbermaid (or similar) livestock troughs, with submersible stainless steel wood stoves that feed and breathe from above water line.

One fellow brought his out to some remote cabins we use in the bush on some lake trout lakes. Pulled it out on a fairly wide freight sled a couple winters ago.

All you need is a container for the water (e.g. the metal tub a neighbor gave me) and an 800 watt heater. Depending on the circuits in your home.

I have a 900 watt wirewound heater. Current is about 9 amps, but it keeps blowing circuits. I think I have cheap outlets.

If it's 115 VAC, that would be 16 ohms to get the 800 watts.

Which means I need to add about 30 turns of I-forget-which-gauge-wire.

Guess I'm going for the "group rate". 1/2 the sockets in my home are blown. Got to stop running electric kilns on the house current.

Oklahoma continues to have our of control spread, but today is bedlam...ou plays osu...then we have thanksgiving holidays, many are planning huge family gatherings. Drs. And nurses Are crying in social media because all the ICU beds are full, but we aren't in the red because we still have mattresses in our hospitals. No staff, but we got some mattresses so we are all good.

Despite most of us pursuing comfort, as a way of being, for the majority of our lives, I believe it is one thing that makes us less responsible, less responsive, less politically active, less adept at taking care of ourselves, and less deserving of continuing on as as species.

Seems the more comfortable we've become, the less we've been able to perceive proper priorities, the less we care about our communities, each other, an awareness of health and safety basics, and so much more.

WTF ? A 14-hour line for a fast food opening, during a pandemic ?

Oh well, I shouldn't find fault in that lemming swarm event, since I happen to get my kicks running about in the middle of the freeway during rush-hour while dodging cars and big-rigs like a pro, just for the adrenaline rush, as a poor man's alternative to donning a flying squirrel suit and leaping off mountain cornices in the Alps.

After Sonic opened in Fairbanks, Alaska, literally occupying the old Carl's Junior building, there were bizarre lines stretching from their drive-through lane, out their parking lot, and down the road for a ways.

A person might wonder, on occasion, why a Country with such wealth, ingenuity, resources, and more, has stooped to such strange pleasures as consuming food that inevitably will kill them, and waiting in line for hours to take part.

Are we THAT f'ing bored??!!!

The fainting goats have nothing on us. They at least reserve their suicidal theatrics until AFTER a threat actually presents itself. Many in our Country go and find the threat, then pay money to immerse themselves in it..

I'm thinking there's been cheating on IQ and other tests for a -LONG- damned time now.

fights ensued, and people don't wear masks in their car, doesn't look like they put them on when they hopped out to brawl for a fast food burger
