At almost the same time the world hits ten million total cases America will reach the predicted two hundred thousand dead.

Is it not beautiful when the numbers come out in such elegantly simple ratios? They are just as easy to deny as complex numbers but I can remember that one out of every fifty cases world wide equals one dead American.

The number could grow higher (even though we are already highest in the world) if we keep following Trump's guidelines.
But...
Folks are going to do what they they were trained to do.

Takes two to Tango, but only one to fight. More fighting than dancing because of that.

To this observer cowering under isolation in a forgotten backwater, while reading news accounts that even remote Brazilian Amazon tribes have not been spared devastation wrought by the Corona virus, and thus concluding that the contagion is likely permeate every human population group in existence on this planet, it is nothing short of astonishing to see footage of massive beach crowds with attendees crammed in together cheek by jowl, without a care in the world.

I do not personally know anyone felled by the Corona virus, yet the footage I have seen of terminal corona virus patients violently convulsing as they struggle to draw just one more breath, filled me with the sort of abject terror one experiences during those all-consuming nightmares from which jolting awake is welcome respite.

To be aware that one stands perhaps a 50% chance of dying in such an excruciating and prolonged manner, subsequent to Corona virus infection, has been more than sufficient to put the fear of God in me, and focus my mind on the existential imperative to keep isolated from the rest of society for as long as I can sustain that temporary new normal without running out of supplies.

The herd instinct notwithstanding, I still cannot fathom the reasoning that motivated such massive crowds to throng public areas, almost as though to present a direct physical challenge to the microscopic nemesis that kept them locked up for "too long already".

Clearly all these tens of thousands of revelers crammed up against each other as the states open up in sequence, are unified by a brand of zealous optimistic denial rarely ever witnessed. Time will certainly tell, whether that defiant never-say-die optimism was warranted, or premature.

In almost all cases, Canada's numbers have always been 10% of the USA numbers. That's true for population, business, medals won.... etc. OK... we drink way more and stronger beer. But for covid? Just Wow.

USA Confirmed: 1,700,000
Canada Confirmed: 86,600 (10% would be 170k)

USA (cases per 1 million): 5,192
Canada (cases per 1 million): 2,281

USA (Deaths): 100,038
Canada (Deaths): 6,637

Almost 50% of the deaths in Canada were residents in Old Age homes. Trudeau called in the army to take over old age residences. You can be sure charges will follow and companies will be shut down.

I'm no expert, but I'm pretty sure what is happening in the USA is because of Trump's lackadaisical attitude towards the pandemic and his (Kushner's) refusal to help the States. And I'm positive it's because the States that are being ignored are the one who didn't vote for him. That sickens me.

He's behaving like the Iraqi Government did when the USA walked in.
