The woman chairing the tv press conference hasn’t stopped coughing into the mic for last ten minutes.... maybe go home?

That's asolutely frightening. She should be able to grasp the fear that she created. I hope she's not being held at gunpoint until she's tested, and I hope she's staying away from the public at this point.

If we are on what basically boils down to house arrest we had better get testing figured out. Mail delivery drop by drone?

F that WMT noise, the dude probably has skills that people will barter for, or pay cash. Fire season is coming to SoCal, they hire.

I bet I could stay busy tilling up gardens for people who don't have one. LOL, if they can fit a 6' tractor. Smoothing rock driveways.

Trump will get there too, and lock down the entire country, but i’m sure lots of cities and states will do it first. The quicker he locks down the country, the faster we will get through this. Since trump is such an incompetent coward, I’m guessing we get to a million infected before he pulls the trigger. We are currently at 2500.

I would like to be the fly on the wall in that meeting where someone finally said something to get him to reverse course.

Unfortunately I personally believe this is a case of the blind leading the blind

i'm hoping it is "the blind falling off of a cliff because he could not/would not lead..." the states are doing what an intelligent POTUS would have done months ago. unfortunately, we do not have one of those...

American bailout runs into Nancy Pelosi!!!

"From my standpoint, we're apart," Pelosi told reporters in the Capitol when asked if she expects there to be a deal today.

Pelosi said there's no bipartisan deal at this point, but that Democratic congressional leaders will be prepping their own legislation. "It's on the Senate side now because that's their deadline for a vote," she said, "but we'll be introducing our own bill and hopefully it'll be compatible with what they discussed on the Senate."

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer told reporters that "we need a bill that puts workers first, not corporations." He declined to say if he supports the bill.

The stimulus package under negotiation will likely total more than $2 trillion, according to estimates from White House Economic Advisor Larry Kudlow. The Senate has been under pressure to finish a plan with the House and administration as quickly as possible.

The flu has already killed 10,000 across US as world frets over coronavirus

Key Points

  • The flu remains a higher threat to U.S. public health than the new coronavirus.
  • This flu season alone has sickened at least 19 million across the U.S. and led to 10,000 deaths and 180,000 hospitalizations.
  • Roughly a dozen cases of the deadly coronavirus have been identified in the U.S., though the number has mushroomed aWhile the new coronavirus ravages much of China and world leaders rush to close their borders to protect citizens from the outbreak, the flu has quietly killed 10,000 in the U.S. so far this influenza season.
At least 19 million people have come down with the flu in the U.S. with 180,000 ending up in the hospital, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The flu season, which started in September and can run until May, is currently at its peak and poses a greater health threat to the U.S. than the new coronavirus, physicians say. The new virus, which first emerged in Wuhan, China, on Dec. 31, has sickened roughly 17,400 and killed 362 people mostly in that country as of Monday morning.
“In the U.S., it’s really a fear based on media and this being something new,” Dr. Jennifer Lighter, hospital epidemiologist at NYU Langone Health, said of the new coronavirus. “When in reality, people can take measures to protect themselves against the flu, which is here and prevalent and has already killed 10,000 people.”
The coronavirus outbreak, however, is proving to be more deadly than the flu. It has killed roughly 2% of the people who have contracted it so far, according to world health officials. That compares with a mortality rate of 0.095% for the flu in the U.S., according to CDC estimates for the 2019-2020 flu season. The CDC estimates that 21 million people will eventually get the flu this season cross its outbreak zone in China.

All this talk about the flu

All this talk about the flu

Whether it was WuFlu, a deriviaive, or a different virus, there has been something going around this winter. People are saying it hit their lungs hard.

Here are a couple guys from a local car forum:

Interesting point. In fact, at end of December, I came down with some sort of bug unlike any I've had before. Mild sore throat, dry cough that developed into bigtime shortness of breath. I could breathe shallow, but attempting to take a good breath sent me into a coughing fit. Took all of christmas break to get mostly over, but I couldn't take a nice deep breath for 3 weeks. I had to totally quit my daily rowing machine workouts for over a month, and I'm still nowhere near where I was when I quit.

No idea what it was, but this whole covid thing makes me wonder... But I wouldn't call myself "fully recovered" when I went back to work in January - yet I didn't cause a crazy outbreak at work.
I had something similar early this year. Bad bug like nothing i ever had that lasted over a week. But honestly i wasn't sure if it was that bad of a bug or if I'm just getting old. I hadn't gotten a cold or flu for over 3 years prior to this, but i do deal with bad allergies every spring and summer.

I went to a funeral the day before. Lots of people from other states. It started with a little tingle in the throat the next morning. By the end of the day I felt pretty bad. I stayed at my mom's house because I didn't want to get my children sick. Yeah, better to get my close to 70yo parents sick instead right?

I did end up getting my mother sick with similar symptoms unfortunately cause, like any good mother, she just wouldnt keep her distance. She is also a nurse so she was trying to doctor on me.

Didn't really have much of a cough but my throat was very sore. I was hungry but it made it hard to eat. Over the next few days the sickness just seem to change randomly. Some days i felt a little bad and some absolutely terrible. I had a fever of 102ish but didn't keep a regular check everyday.. Some days I was nauseated, most days i would cough a lot but it varied. I also felt weak and sometimes like i wanted to pass out when standing or exerting to much energy. Not sure if that was from lack of food. I didnt have much appetite and my throat was so sore i didnt want to eat even when i was hungry.

The consistent thing was the sore throat and shortness of breath like you mentioned.

Another thing that really stood out to me about this sickness versus others I've had in the past was how much phlegm I coughed up. I was coughing up the thickest phlegm I had ever seen in very large quantities for days. After a week or so I pretty much got back to feeling normal but I still had a mild cough with a little phlegm coming up here and there. After about a week of that i still had a little dry cough for another 2 weeks. I was back home im the 2nd week and didnt get anyone else sick.

I got the Flu in early Jan. and it took 6 weeks to finally get completely over it. Fever, lung congestion like I've never had before and aches every where. At one point I almost went to the hospital thinking I had pneumonia.
I've never had the flu where I felt so bad.

There are many difference between the Flu and Covid-19 and to Doctors it seems they are easy to tell apart.

That doesn't sound like the flu. Flu makes you puke and shit and hurt and get cold and hot, rinse, repeat.

These bastards are lying to us, while they are robbing us blind. When they start throwing around the term national emergency, watch out.

I'll say, they are terrified of a bank run. Kashkarry was on CBS 60 minutes tonight saying the fed can print faster than people can withdraw their cash.

We'll see. I suggest getting some, in case they run out of TP to print it on.

New Zealand has gone completely into lock down, all essential businesses and services are still open, all else to be closed for 4 weeks before a review. 102 confirmed cases so far (we're only a country of just over 4 million). Glad I got an Oz of White Russian sitting at home for me...

WTF is the point of this??

To try to trivialize the current situation?
