Cooling a sealed room within a room?

Just an fyi.... that Breeze Gnome suggest has a window adapter so you can run the line set thru the window without having to make holes in your wall to keep to your "no modifications" .

Your just gonna want to make sure its sealed really good around it....probably have to beef it up a little.

I only need about 10' of that, maybe 15'. The bedroom opens out directly to a large patio. I really like the quick connect option. The flexibility is worth the expense. I can't thank you enough for the product recommendation. I'm 99% sure I'm going to pull the trigger on the 12k btu unit. I will definitely be able to make more use of it later down the road when I'm finished with the bedroom.

keep in mind the lineset to connect the mini is only 25ft.
if your run is longer you'll need the hvac tech to add more line
vac, add 410 etc etc,
if thats the case I think your better off using another minisplit,
you pay more for the quick connect option
itll be cheaper and let the hvac install it.

I never cut corners. That's why I was here asking advice. I wanted to make sure what I was doing was going to work properly. Thanks to the great advice from Gnome and Granger I think I have everything put together.

I am 99% sure I'll be getting the mini gnome suggested. I will set it out on the patio and run the lines to the indoor unit. It will be placed directly in my sealed grow. I've got all the other equipment I need. I won't bother with a dehuey for the nighttime. I have a 4" fan that I'm setting up to run in the evenings to keep fresh air flowing. It will shut off when lights go on and a sealed damper will keep everything closed up tight.

Sealed grow is the next step for me. I don't think I can get better results than I currently am without adding C02. With my best strain I'm already pushing 1.2gpw of AAA with ~420ppm of C02 @ 72F. I can't wait to see what 1200ppm of C02 and ~80F can do. Thanks again to everybody for all the advice. I'll be sure to post some pics when I get it all set up. :)

4k btu per 1kw of light is what I work on!... Don't cut corners with a sealed room, do it right the first time and you will be among the elite, sealed rooms are some other level shit...

Listen to Gnome and Granger they know what's going on!

Wazzup Gnome? good to see you man!

ah so..
so your on a 2nd story, but have a 2nd story patio then....
I thought your patio was ground level.
well sheeeeit negroe, your on easy avenue then :D

and yeah what cat said,
theres a window kit that comes with the breeze that lets you take the linset through the window and still leave the window operational,
so no thu wall holes on the exterior wall.
just be very becarefull with the linset,
I really recommend 2 people to get it set up, you do NOT want to kink that line
or
your
fooked!!!

and sealed will blow you away, I nearly doubled my yield sealed w/co2 and now have the biggest nugs Ive ever grown indoors.

hey Mo.... keep an eye out in the mosca thread,
I'm be posting pics of my ot-ibg
C99bx2 and my Tsi Fly.

Yup, I think I'm set. :woohoo:

I am mostly going to use this grow to sort through new genetics. I'm on the hunt for some elite moms. I also want to give the Botanicare Kind line a try and see how these Gavitas do. Should be fun!

I'll keep that in mind thanks!

Mmmm I'm real excited about adding C02. w00t! Can't wait!

I'll go check your log out. I'll probably post one up of my genetic hunt. It depends on how my partners feel about it. :tiphat:

Also remember that these things need maintainance, my one mini split was installed by a technician years ago. Like as in thru the brickwall. Now I gotta become a technician myself to get the thing off, and reinstall it after it comes back from the agent. Soldering copper pipes, re-gassing etc... Growing has taught me so much about the rest of the world, besides the obvious!

Sniper Gnome throw up a link to that there Mosca thread?

Moses, lookup how to "Pump Down" your unit, it will reclaim all the refridg. back into the compressor. Then just buy a new lineset if you dont want to solder.

I just installed one myself....no hvac experience what so ever, just a bunch of research and help from some forum peeps.

Just get some decent tools and the hvac part of install is the easiest part :)

third coast has a room about your size w/4ooow of Gav's
he said his tank lasts...?? 6 wks... something like that.
maybe he'll drop in.

Hey there. I have had 20 pound tanks last eight weeks when not opening the door much.

I now get about 4-6 weeks but I leave the door open for about an hour a day while working so some of it fills my veg room.

My room is 12x13x8

I have an extra bedroom I can grow in for some experiments and I am going to be running C02.

Otherwise I'm stuck getting an uber expensive C02/temp/humidity/fan/everything controller and I'll have to exhaust the C02 from the room periodically to cool things off, which I don't want to do as I want to maximize the time the plants are supplemented with high levels of C02.

Thanks!

For exchanging heat, possibly, a heat exchanger.

e.g. car radiator or possibly a military surplus unit.

carefull brazing copper on mini splits,
from EZ Rider, an hvac tech in another post,
he said you have to run nitrogen through the line when brazing or youll get copper oxides inside the line that can clog your refridgerant metering device.
that's why they come with flair nuts...

here's his post fro the best mini split thread

The oxides can play hell with a 410-a system though.

+1, that is roughly the usage rate for me too, sometimes when all factors line up correctly the plants use noticeably more, and the harvest is bomb!

Yeah thanx man, the guy mentioned you gotta seal the system up. I will look before I leap!

Quick question:

WIll that 12k minisplit cycle too often with 2x Gavita de 1kw fixtures in a sealed 5x9x9 room?

I saw the description for the "inverter technology" used in that unit. I'm wondering if that will keep the temp stable without cycling the compressor too often.

mpl, the invertor technology with mini's is bomb!
Its hard to explain(for me anyways) but it kinda learns the room once its stabilized, like fuzzy logic on a co32 controller
and it hits the set point a lOT quicker because it's so effecient
that way you don't have those big spikes starting and overshooting the temps then stopping, and it goes on like that.
inverter will minimizes that,
look at it like cruise control on a car,
say...once you set it at 50mph, and when you slowed to 45mph it kicks in back to 50, but the car is still accelerating and hits 52mph then @50mphit steadies, until you slow to 45 again and on+on you go like that
but with inverter technology cruise control you barely notice the slowing down and speeding up at all and you just
cruise nice-n-smooth @50mph

I saw a graph and instead of going way up and then down and back up again like a reg. compressor works
its more of a slack wavy line.
let me see if i can find it.......

ok!
here ya go

i mentioned it cause I'm not the sharpest knife in the house
and it was news to me...
so i couldn't wait to tell someone :D

That's the chart I saw. I think 2kw in a small space like that will build heat up quickly, but if the unit works as well as that chart claims i should be set. :D

Gnome, does that breeze have separate programmable day/night temp controls?
not sure, my day and nite temps stay the same,
during bloom as flowers get bigger I'll adjust temps but day/nite are kept the same
